  • Perfect Vacation!

"Everything about this vacation was perfect, from the moment we stepped off the plane. Our driver was waiting for us as soon as we came through customs, and we were off to Casa Chocolate. The location is gorgeous, the condo was beautifully appointed and exactly as described (there were even chocolates waiting for us upon arrival), and all the staff were wonderful! Alexandra, the Palms concierge, is a joy to work with, and Leo at the poolside bar is a sweetheart. We loved the property so much, the only time we left was to eat. I highly recommend Coco Loco (a very short walk from the villa-try the fish tacos!), Angelina's and Shogun in Playa Flamingo, Papaya, La Sodita, and Ander's in Brasilito, and Season's by Schlomy in Tamarindo. If you are in need of a taxi and you speak Spanish, Charly is great. We requested him every time we left the property. We used the pre-arrival form, and all provisions requested were stocked in the condo as requested. We also requested more provisions while we were there, and they were very quick to accommodate. I am looking forward to planning another vacation to this amazing villa in the near future. Carlos, thank you again for sharing your beautiful home with us!"

  • Great location, nice condo, needs some TLC

"Overall, our stay was great, it was warm and sunny every day and that's why we were here. We did snorkeling and zip lining, watched sun sets, enjoyed the ocean. The condo was nice, roomy. However, little things were broken here or there, I counted 9 small issues, won't list them as they were minor. The only major thing was that the internet broke down on our third day here (out of six days). The property manager was very responsive, came look at it, but it needed cable company to come and fix it. They were supposed to show up on our last day to fix it, but never did. Considering that these days you need internet access for everything, it was pretty major problem. We managed to connect to the neighbor's unprotected wifi, but that shouldn't be a solution. AS far as the beaches, and this has nothing to do with the property, if you have small children, Costa Rica is probably not a good place to go. I regret that I didn't do a better research, this is not Caribbean. water is quite cold, especially on windy days and the waves are very strong. Otherwise, OK area, not much to do besides water sports. If you like quiet area with very few tourists, you would like it."

  • Perfect place to stay

"Our second stay here. It's a fantastic house, well laid-out as regards the bedrooms and great social areas with amazing views. There are two beaches very nearby, one wild without facilities and another with nearby bars and the possibility to rent sun loungers etc. We alternated between the two. The house was well-staffed with someone always cleaning the pool or the house. We've already recommended this house."

  • Perfect Family Getaway

"This was the perfect place for our family (3 kids: 8, 5 and 3). There are several beaches to choose from all less than a 20 min drive away. Lots of variety ranging from white sand with hardly any waves to full on surfing beaches. Beyond that the kids loved playing in the two pools on the property. Great restaurants to choose from nearby, though we were able to do most of our meals in the condo's kitchen, which is always convenient with picky eaters. Everything was clean and in relatively good working order, and the owners as well as the local management company were responsive and helpful. The balcony connecting the three rooms is what makes this location. It overlooks the bay and mountains beyond and is a great place to sit early in the morning to enjoy a cup of coffee watching the sunrise, take an afternoon nap in one of the loungers, or hang out in the rocking chairs enjoying the evening. I would definitely want to have a car here-- there isn't much within walking distance. It is a sleepy beach town, it shuts down early, so if you want the late night fun stay somewhere else. Hope to come again! Beaches: - Danta/Dantita - park at Las Catalinas which is secure and they will let you go through to Playa Danta which is a good boogie boarding beach. Walk across the rocks at low tide, or hike up and over the mountain to Playa Dantita for a much calmer beach. Nice restaurant and ice cream shop in Las Catalinas - Conchal - go to Brasilito and then drive across the beach (or walk if you are worried about driving on the beach) and you will find a beautiful beach made up mostly of ground up shells - fairly calm water - Flamingo - just down the street from the condo - bigger waves, for boogie boarding, and the best sunset around - Tamarindo - if you want surfing lessons this is the place to go - a little too busy for our young family, but could see teenagers or older really enjoying it Restaurants: - Coco Loco - down the road along Playa Flamingo - great place for dinner and watching the sunset - Tubla - pizza from in town - delicious. - A lo Nico - good burgers and fries and really friendly staff. Variety of foods - Sol y Mar - great for a Costa Rican dish (casado) Other: - It is a bit of a drive but the big cat rescue center (Centro de Rescate las Pumas) near Canas and Waterfall/Catarata Llanos del Cortes in Bagaces made for a nice trip when we needed a break from the beach. - DON'T take Route 911, it is about 20 km down a bumpy dirt road"
