  • Great service and unbelievable view

"I don't think there are many places around with such nice panoramic view. We had the upstairs room facing the volcano, so the view was amazing. This place provides easy access to the West side of the volcano and Cerro Chato for hiking. It is far from town but we had plenty of eating choices around, specially in El Castillo town. The road to get there was an adventure. We had a small Toyota Yaris and initially it was intimidating but after a little while we realized that even our small car could handle it just fine. Eduardo was always willing to help and him as well as the rest of the staff offered great service. They started to serve breakfast the day before we got there. Except the last day, we had breakfast there every time They are doing a great job at it! This place offers great value and I recommend it."

  • Stunning property! A great place for everyone.

"My wife, 3 kids and my parents just returned from Costa Rica and the highlight of our trip was staying at Villa Encantada. The house and grounds are simply amazing and will leave you wishing you had more time. We stayed for 4 nights and could have easily spent 7. The best bird watching was on the property with many types of jays and toucans eating at the feeder. Everyone enjoyed the pools and the 100 foot water slide. 5 star properties also have 5 star owners and Glenn is the most welcoming and helpful owner. He was like a personal concierge arranging our tours and giving us maps to the places we are going since the roads in Costa Rica are not well marked. He even put up a fence around the patio so that my 2 year old could not run off into the pool or pond. All members of my traveling party from my 70 year old dad to my 2 year old son thoroughly enjoyed Villa Encantada. All of us can't wait to go back."

  • Family vacation at the peak of the mountain

"This awesome place served us well. We arrived late in the evening after a lengthy drive from San Jose and woke up to the most impressive view one can ask. The owners are very responsive and the handiman on place is ready to help in a short notice. The activities nearby include Hiking in the jungle, (recommend only with a guide), zip-line, hot springs all within 30-60 minutes drive from the place. Speaking about the drive...highly recommend to have 4X4. This amazing view is only possible from a high point and the last 40 minutes to the house is a dirt road that will put you car and your driving ability to the test. If you arrive at night, the last leg will take you from the lake to the top of the mountain in a 25 degrees slope. The owners did right and placed stones on the road to increase the traction, however, at 3/4 of the way there is a sharp left and the slope increases to about 35 degrees. At that point, in a dark night, your headlights will face the opposite mountain and you need to be careful making that turn. I highly recommend that a nice light reflected sign will point the way, if a lamp post is not available. Adding some guard rails at that point will be great. The rooms are specious and the yard is spectacular. I wish there was a laundry machine too. Overall- it is highly recommended."
