  • Perfect location for rest and relaxation

"The condo is in a perfect location for rest and relaxation, yet close enough for active adventures. The condo is just as pictured. The view from the condo is outstanding. To see the blue sky and hear the surf from the front window is heaven on earth. The condo is nicely appointed with all the comforts of home. Beds are very comfortable. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and Rita from the property management company greeted us and led us to the condo to give us an overview of everything. She was most helpful and readily available for any questions we may have. The information provided by Kalli was wonderful. She did not miss a thing in terms of what is provided as well as recommendations for dining and recreation. We took advantage of having groceries delivered to the condo on the day of arrival so that we could have a restful evening and enjoy breakfast items in the morning. We took long walks on the endless beach and enjoyed cocktails and appetizers at the Beach House, which is walking distance from the condo. There is a fruit and vegetable stand just as you enter the property and the pineapples were sooo sweet and delicious. We had a private chef come to the condo on two separate occasions and it was worth every penny. We also had two massage therapist (Alejandra and Karen)come to the condo for heavenly one hour massages. We were so impressed that we had them come back again. Roxanne was the name of the concierge we worked with prior to our arrival and she is the one who set up the private chefs as well as the massage therapists. What a wonderful service. I do recommend renting a car since it is a distance from areas that have more action, such as Tamarindo. Tamarindo is about 25 minutes by car. Everything else is within walking distance; the Beach House, The Shack (best Tico breakfast in town), Playa Flamingo and its beach vendors. I would not hesitate to rent this condo again. Kudos to Kalli, Rita and Roxanne for a job well done! Pura Vida!!!!"

  • Papagayo Paradise

"We highly recommend staying at Vista Hermosa if you are planning a stay on the Papagayo Peninsula!! It is beautifully appointed with gorgeous art and stylish furnishings. The main living and dining space has a huge balcony and there are also individual balconies off of each bedroom, an infinity pool right next door - all of which overlook the driving range and ocean. There is also a nicely equipped kitchen and great jetted tub in the master bath! If you are looking for relaxation - this is the place. A typical day was waking up early, driving the golf cart 9 holes looking for monkeys and birds, checking out a beach or two (again with barely a soul in sight!). Back for some breakfast and then going to either the Prieta Beach Club, Four Seasons or Andaz to hang out with a day pass. The Andaz adult pool was awesome, with howlers and white-faced monkeys lazing in the trees around the pool all day, plus a couple of coco-loco tropical drinks and some cevice - can life get any better? If had the kids with us they would have loved the family pools at the Andaz and Four Seasons too. In the afternoon we'd hang out by the condo pool (basically our own pool as nobody else was ever there during our entire stay!). For dinner, sometimes we would grill (we stocked up at the Mercado in Coco and Liberia - we preferred Liberia - both about a 45 minute drive) and sometimes we'd head out to a restaurant (lots of options close by!). We did get some great tenderloin and lamb chops at the butcher (Carnes San Martin - stellar, right by airport in the Solarium development at the back left hand side). The grill is awesome and I was able to sous-vide some ribs and sear them on the grill; sooooo good. Note, a great place to go and see the sunset is the 3rd hole or the Prieta Beach Club. Honestly, the decisions to be made were really about which beach, what drink? It was that good. Totally recommend it! Bari is awesome too - makes scheduling anything easy. Took the boat to a few beaches and saw the caves one day. Was a nice change of pace and learned to paddle-board too. She also arranged for our car - which was great. Another tip is to get duty-free rum after you land in Liberia - it is right in baggage area. A liter of Flor De Cana there will set you up for the week!! Book it. You'll love it!"

  • What a great place to stay in Costa Rica

"We just spent a long holiday week-end with family at Villa Encantada with a number of family members. It was as beautiful and comfortable as advertised, if not more so. The owner, Glenn, was great to work with. He provided a wealth of information about activities in the area and helped us select a zipline tour that did a great job accommodating a seven-year old member of our party. Since our party was too big to all stay at the Villa, he arranged an additional house a few minutes away to take the overflow. He met us on our arrival and showed us around the property, providing a map of the trails, and checked on us regularly during our stay. We really enjoyed the well laid out trails throughout the property. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and well maintained and the views of the lake and rainforest are spectacular. We had six kids aged seven and under who would have spent the entire stay making the circuit up and down the water slide if the adults had the stamina to stay with them. (OK, the adults had their share of fun on the slide as well, especially when they could splash an unsuspecting onlooker.) Another popular activity was fishing in the pond located on the property, especially from the island in the middle. We hiked down to Lake Arenal, but didn’t fish there – that will have to wait on a future trip. The house itself is beautiful and comfortable with lots of nice touches. It is well stocked with towels (including for the pool), pots, pans, dishes, basic spices, etc. – far better than we have experienced in other rentals. Nuevo Arenal (sometimes just called Arenal) is only three or four miles away and has a grocery, meat vendor and bakery, as well as a pharmacy and we shopped and cooked most dinners at the Villa. There are a number of good restaurants in the area, and we had lunch at several, but we preferred not to drive at night. But watch your fuel level – the “gasolineria” in town was closed while we were there and is reputed to be expensive when open. The closest we found was Tilaran (about 15 miles) or La Fortuna (about 30 miles), but there are a lot of activities in and around La Fortuna, so you may be going there anyway. Remember that you are in a rainforest and I read somewhere that it typically rains at some point during 22 or 23 days in September, the month we were there, and it rained three of four days we were there, but only one day for a long period and you can find activities nearby that are rain-free since the climate changes wi"

  • Location, Location, Location!

"Our family loved the house and secluded beach of Playa Pelada. This beach has beautiful tide pools and a small blowhole that was fun to check out. It is a short stroll on the beach, from the house, to a lovely restaurant and little beachside bar. We all loved playing in the warm water and watching the sunsets each evening. It is a bit of a walk over to the next beach of Playa Guiones, but definitely doable. It is a 5 minute drive and easy to find parking if you don't want to walk. Sitting on the porch of the house, we saw monkeys playing in the trees and even walking along the power lines. We went surfing, horseback riding and took a family yoga class during our stay here."
