  • Great Villa for a Nosara Surf Adventure

"Dear Dave - Many thanks as we enjoyed our 8-day stay at the Four Winds Villas!!! The villa was well-appointed and we were comfortable immediately. We went surfing everyday and the the short, five minute walk to the beach allowed us to maximize our time in the surf at Playa Guiones. Your property manager, Rebeca, helped us to arrange for a fishing trip and ATV tours to a cattle ranch and snorkeling in San Juanillo. During our fishing trip we caught a beautiful dorado and a red snapper, which we were able to cook and enjoy using the grill and nice kitchen. Our boys (ages 7 and 9) loved the pool, and it was a perfect way for all of us to relax and refresh after a surf session and during the afternoon heat. The groundskeeper, Jorge, was so pleasant and we enjoyed practicing our Spanish with him. We also loved that the villa is centrally located and we were able to explore the entire Nosara area with ease. We went to Olga's on our last night to watch the sunset and enjoy some cold Imperials and Pilsens - spectacular!!! This was our first trip to Costa Rica and we had a great time surfing, fishing, exploring, and our "downtime" at the villa. We cannot wait to return. Pura Vida!!!"

  • Cleanest, Safest, and most economical place to stay in Guiones

"Villa Canadiense is clean, safe, and has everything you need to relax. I stayed there for two weeks in January/February 2016 and lived care free and happy. Me and three of my friends surfed all day every day at the world famous Guiones beaches and had a blast. The local Ticos were friendly (as long as you didn't paddle battle for waves) and the local Super (grocery store) and sodas (mom and pop restaurants) were relatively inexpensive and convenient. Villa Canadiense is only a short walk through the jungle to the beach and I woke each morning eager to see the wild dogs and other native critters that inhabited the area. At the Villa, we had everything we needed. We cooked plenty of meals, relaxed by the pool, listened to local music and partied. One night, we even had dinner with the owner of the Villa. She was great. There was plenty of room for all of us and four longboards. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT LOOK AT ANY OTHER PLACES IN GUIONES. Villa Canadiense is the cleanest, safest, economical, and most convenient place to stay. Each day we left a tip for the cleaners, and most of the time, if we didn't specifically tell her to take it, we would return from surfing to find the tip untouched. The staff is like family and made our stay worry-free. We already booked our stay for next year and plan to return there each year to surf and take in the local scene."

  • "We're kinda staying at a mansion"

"Our group of 10 loved Villa Bellitza. When invited to stay out at a beach party, one member of our group said, "No thanks, I'm kinda staying at a mansion." Most people in our crew surfed throughout the day, and the private jungle path to the beach was an asset. No coordination necessary. Want to surf? Walk down the path, and you're there. On the path we saw monkeys and crabs. At the house, we had visitors including iguanas, a coati, raccoons, armadillos, and birds. The house has plenty of room to spread out, hide from the sun, and hide from one another if necessary. Also, the plethora of outdoor seating and an inviting pool area drew the majority of the crew throughout the day. I didn't think the pool would be important. It was. It is HOT in the middle of the day, and the pool was the lifeline. Town water shortages meant that water was turned off from about 6pm-7am, but you get used to it. Tried to sleep without using the A.C. but eventually caved. The A.C.s do a decent job cooling down the rooms, but especially the downstairs of the junior suite. House is walkable to a variety of restaurants and bars, and makes for a fantastic home base. On a couple of days, I never left "the compound." Ed is a great property manager who helped us to coordinate a chef for the group - meals for the group of 10 were $100 (chicken meal) and $120 (fish) - definitely recommended."

  • Beautiful, Affordable Home with Spectacular Views!

"My husband and I stayed at this beautiful property for one week in April during the dry season and it was truly not long enough. While the roads leading to Nosara are rough and challenging, they have kept the small towns of Nosara and Guiones tucked away and undeveloped. It truly is an escape away from it all. The house was well-equipped, well-maintained, and offered at a very reasonable price. The wildlife (Howler monkeys, coatimundi, array of birds, and more), sunsets, and views of the Nosara and Montana Rivers as they join the Pacific Ocean were beyond spectacular. We loved relaxing around the beautiful, warm infinity pool. The beaches are gorgeous and we enjoyed visiting Nosara, Peleda, Garza, Guiones, and Samara. Peleda and Guiones do not have much shade but there are palm trees on the others. There's a small bike shop in Guiones that rents beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers. We highly recommend hiking the trails at the entrance to the Biological Reserve, which is very close to the house near the Nosara River and the trails right near the house that lead down to Playa Peleda. We found a wide array of pretty shells and huge sand dollars hiking down Nosara Beach at low tide. We took surfing lessons on Guiones, which was perfect for beginners at low tide. We enjoyed eating breakfasts at Cafe Paris in Guiones, the local tico-style food at Rancho Tico, and dinner at La Luna (get the Greek humus appetizer - yummy!). While Carl and Cathy were not at the house during our stay, we felt comfortable with Alex and Alejandro, who checked in on us and were there if we needed anything. Don't forget to feed their family of goats across the street. We highly recommend the house!"
