  • Gorgeous House and Beach!

"Stayed her with my husband, kids and extended family. We had in total 9 adults and 3 kids (under the age of 7) and fit very comfortably in the house. The location on the beach is amazing and love the the tranquility of it! Beautiful views! If you are looking for a beautiful place to relax, please rent this home it's perfect. A lady from the surf shop came by and rented us boogie boards for the kids for $7 a day and offered surf lessons. They had a blast! If you want night life, Tamarindo is just a 20 min drive away. Great time and would definitely do it again!"

  • Great location, and roomy property

"We stayed 8 days at this house and the place was very spacious, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The living area was also big and comfortable. The only thing it was missing was a proper dining table inside. There is a large one outside with benches but it gets dark and mosquitoes eat you alive. The pool area was nice, private and the garden was luxurious. It was kept clean everyday by the maintenance staff. The beach is few minutes walking. Maritza, the lady who welcomed us, was so generous of her time and services. The little grocery store next to the property is practical but very small and expensive. If you need to do proper groceries, go to Mega Super, 12 km driving distance. We highly recommend having a car to stay in that area. After 6PM, there is a security guard that opens a gate to get into the community."

  • Idyllic beach house, with miles of pristine beach

"This house is a special place. It is a carefully decorated house, with a backyard garden that leads you to a pristine 3-mile long semi-private beach. Playa Grande, which is separated by an estuary from the much more crowded and touristy Playa Tamarindo. Interestingly enough, hardly anyone from Playa Tamarindo crosses over to Playa Grande, as far as we could tell. So, you end up on Playa Grande with a beautiful expanse of beach, with hardly anyone around. It's lovely. My wife, 15-year old son, and I just returned from a fantastic week at Casa Baula. The house is well-appointed and maintained. Compared to our many short-term rental stays in northern California, this house had the most well stocked kitchen we've seen. Nice pots and pans, tons of dishes and glassware, the classic Osterizer blender powering through the ice cubes in our guanabana and passion fruit smoothies. We felt very comfortable making all of our breakfasts and lunches in the house, and a few dinners as well. The services for the house are a real plus. The caretaker is always available by cell, and was happy to meet us at the house at 11 pm because our flight was delayed. As a retired professional chef, he even bakes delicious baguettes and croissants and delivers them in the morning to the house-- how cool is that! Cleaning staff spiffs up the house 3x per week, and it looks like the front and back yards are done weekly. The concierge service that the owners connect you with make the entire vacation a turnkey operation. They set you up with your rental car, airport transportation, and all your tours. All of that worked out flawlessly for us-- everything on time and very enjoyable. Since the concierge works out of the local surf shop, about a mile from the house, we had easy access to tons of surf boards. Paddle boarding at playa grande I would only do at low tide on a calm day, unless you're comfortable with waves. At this time of year, when the surf conditions aren't perfect, but still good, we quickly figured out the early morning high tide was good for surfing, and the low tide was fine for boogie boarding and walks on the beach. AC in the house worked great. The ping pong table was great fun-- even the paddles were in good condition. Wifi worked fine-- the master BR was sometimes a dead spot, but hey, you're in Costa Rica so you should be disconnecting a bit anyway. Very nice to have a full washer and dryer. We used the outdoor gas grill for a few dinners--worked great."

  • Beach House Made for an amazing vacation

"We spent 6 days at the beach house with our four kids, ages 6 to 11. We had a great time. Spent time at the beach every day. The Dodge's were great hosts and loaned us some boogie boards, the kids would go out and play in the surf for hours. The kids collected beautiful shells, sand dollars, and built sand castles for big and small hermit crabs to live in. The beach was perfect. The sand gradually slopes into the ocean, gently enough that my 6 year old that doesn't swim very well could still go out into the ocean without too much worry. We sometimes felt we had the beach all to ourselves. The beach was clean and felt very safe. The sunsets were amazing. Comparing to any of the other beaches we went to, for our family Playa Grande was the best."
