  • Beautiful House, great staff, great pool, great beach!!

"The house is great! Playa Grande is a beautiful beach and west coast wild! Only a couple minute walk to the beach. There is a quiet swimming beach, good for toddlers about 4 k away(snorkeling). Took my grown up children, a spouse, and grand-child, all had a wonderful time. Pool was excellent(34-35-36 degree weather every day) so we were in and out all the time when not at a beach. Regular maintenance by Javier kept the pool pristine and there was a weekly visit by a nice young lady to clean up. All in all a very good holiday!"

  • Secluded, Safe and Tranquil...

"yet close to everything you could want in Costa Rica. My wife and I have been travelling to Costa Rica frequently over the past 15 years, always in Guanacaste from Tamarindo to Playa Del Coco and this was the best location yet. Close to the bustling Tamarindo beach for world-class fishing and the beachy night life, but far enough (just a few minute drive though) to feel away from it all in this Playa Grande villa. Its location is quiet, within a gated, small enclave and its own less populated, even secluded, beaches and business district (meaning a store or two for anything you'd need, good restaurants and beach/surf shops). Perfect for a romantic getaway or a family jaunt; it'll fit the bill for either. Richard is as prompt and easy to deal with as any owner you'll deal with and he/his team are wonderfully helpful with trip planning. You can rent bikes, boards or horses within walking distance and there's never much traffic - another big plus as opposed to Tamarindo, if that matters to you. We also tried the in-villa chef visit with "Ander" (ask your concierge) and it was a fabulous experience with amazing food - lobster bisque and swordfish with a bacon wrap over risotto... it rivals a higher-end, big city fine dining experience, presentation included... but cozier. Great service and when they're done, you wont see a sign they were even there!! They clean everything, put away left overs and you do nothing but enjoy the dinner - I had them deliver a local flower arrangement too - this is one time, you wont know you're in a third world country - excellent experience! The Villa is more than enough for a couple with plenty of space to spare and would be great for a family too giving everyone plenty of room to spread out and relax. The fully stocked kitchen has all the features you'd want and like all of the rooms, plenty of beautiful wood cabinetry to hide away all your stuff. Large bedrooms throughout with a beautiful master and accompanying well-sized master bath. Everything is super clean and the management service is readily available with just a phone call. Ceiling fans and cool air moving well throughout the villa after a hot day on the ocean or beach with air conditioning units in each room (important for us as we keep it pretty cool). Overall, very serene location, beautiful, secure and private villa just a short walk from pristine beach, and laid back atmosphere all over town... Pura Vida awaits you @ Richard's Playa Grande Villa."

  • Very clean, Howler Monkeys, quick walk to beach and ammenities. Great value for the money!

"Imagine the best 6 am wake up call to the sound of a Howler monkey troup passing thru! Our kids have never been so excited to be awakened that early! Was amazing to watch on the one day they happened to pass by. Rough start trying to find the place and communicating with property owner, but you can blame that on Homeaway's wonky process that forces you to download their app in order to try to get directions or view full itinerary and poor customer service who never made sure owner got our requests for directions. The place itself has an onsite property manager Kristi who did a great job checking in often, supplying us with extra towels and making sure we got help or suggestions on things when needed. Place is good sized and fit our family of 5 just fine. There is a place you can walk with kids and buy drinks and food and they let you use their pool for free if needed. Fun taking water taxi to Tamarindo if mingling with a ton of tourists is your thing. We liked how quiet and few people were on Playa Grande instead as well as the many other cool beaches nearby. Plenty of good restaurants close and a grocery store to walk to as well. Beds, except the futon, were way more comfortable than mattresses we slept on at all other locations in CR on our 2 week trip."

  • Paradise Found!

"We have stayed at Casa Lanikai twice and just booked our third consecutive trip to go back and stay for a week. We searched for a week trying to find the right place to stay, and after a coworker ( who is from CR) told us about Playa Grande beach. From the very first contact I made with Greg I knew we made the right choice. He called me personally and answered every question a nervous Father of two teenage girls might have about coming to a foreign country. With Gabriela's help, we rented a car and made our way to the house where we were greeted by Nicho and Miriam. Everyone came out to welcome us, and the hospitality never stopped! The house is beautiful and looks brand new. Nicho is always around and available to help with anything, and we really looked forward to seeing both he and Miriam each morning. I just cannot say enough about how well we were treated and how nice the house is. I will tell you that this experience has forever changed the way we will vacation. Why would you ever stay in any hotel when you can stay in such a beautiful home on the beach with unsurpassed hospitality? This home is on the most beautiful stretch of beach and there are times you can walk with coffee or wine and be one of a dozen or so people as far as you can see. There is plenty to do within a short drive, and this past year we spent two days in the Arenal volcano rainforest before driving down to the house. You will be immersed in the community and the culture, experience the friendliest, most relaxed people, and are always safe. The food is good( we cook at home or with the neighbors)- We stop at the local grocery store and stock up the house on our way in and its close by if you need anything. There the sunsets are amazing and different each night. If waves are your thing it is just doesn't get much better. Wifi is as good as any place ive been but seriously- put away the phone and enjoy this place. My kids actually left their phones at home the second trip! That should say it all! Daniella will arrange for any excursions that you could possibly want to do( zip lining is a must). I travel quite a bit and I get to see a lot of great places, but Playa Grande, Greg and his family, Miriam and Nicho - they have become something we look forward to and hope to come back to for many years. We are so grateful to have found Casa Lanikai and we are counting the days until we see everyone again! Thank you all so much !- Jesse, Robin, Emma, & Ashley"
