  • Fantastic Oceanfront House!

"We recently spent a week at Casa Loca and had a fantastic experience as first time travelers to CR. Booking was a breeze, Jarrod and Meaghan were great to deal with, always helpful and quick to reply to our messages. Upon arrival we were all impressed with the cleanliness, size and layout of the home. The outdoor space was fantastic with a great sized swimming pool, and the views at sunset were breathtaking from the veranda. Jarrod and Meaghan referred us to a local tour company called TPV who were also amazing! We all had a wonderful vacation and would recommend Playa Negra Vacation Rentals for anyone looking to book with ease."

  • Great House! Tough Surf...

"We just returned from an 11 day visit to Villa Carramar. It was our third trip to Costa Rica (first trip to Playa Negra) and we shared the house with our dear friends totaling 10 people. Full disclosure - we came here for a surf vacation but during our stay, the largest swell of the year made it too dangerous for us to surf several of the days we were here. It would have been epic if we were more skilled but as it was, we had to drive to nearby Avellanas (15 min away) to get smaller waves. There was plenty of room at the house for everyone and we really enjoyed the open character. The pool was also great...kids loved it! We also enjoyed seeing the monkeys in the mango trees and all the forage around the house - very cool. Big picture takeaway from my perspective - 4x4 vehicle is a requirement (we nearly got stuck and nearly hit a fence on the drive to the property) during this time of year when the rains are frequent, the beach is very rocky and not exactly user friendly for kids, and getting supplies was an ordeal causing a lot of time in transit. Also, during our stay, the house underwent some required maintenance (roof replacement) that was quite noisy at times. Gina was great! She helped us contract a cook for our stay and I highly recommend anyone going to ask for Alexandra (she goes by Shenita). She cooked some really great meals! But like I said, you have to be prepared to make a few runs to the grocery store during your stay (45 min away) as Playa Negra is lacking on supplies. If you want to eat out, Hotel Deeveena is an excellent place (it is $$$$, so be prepared) as well as Jalapeños. If you want to rent surf equipment, I can't say enough good things about Javier at Pargos Surf Adventures (http://pargosadventures.com), he's great! Overall, I'd recommend this location for people with excellent surfing skills that don't mind walking a bit and/or driving to the break. I will also say that the owner, Jon, was a pleasure to work with."

  • Relaxing oceanfront vacation home

"Our family of four stayed for a week at Casa Luna de Miel as part of our three week vacation to Costa Rica . This was our 2nd stop and it was perfect ! It is located in a very private community and we rarely saw other people. Every morning we enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the amazing wrap around porch listening to the waves and admiring the view. As I write this review I still can't believe we we fortunate enough to be able to stay here. The home is just like the pictures and video show but only better !! We spent a lot of time in the beautiful pool which was always the perfect temperature. The bedrooms and living and dining rooms all had ac and all the rooms had great ceiling fans to keep the house cool. The kitchen is well stocked and we cooked most of our meals, why would you want to go out to eat when you have this amazing view. The living room is very comfortable and has a good selection of DVDs, games( we had a few monopoly nights) and a good satellite package to those wanting to watch tv. Swimming and surf beaches are a short car ride or walk away and the water was very warm. The guards at the gate always greeted us with a smile as we would come and go and Makomba the community dog spent a lot of time with us. The house has a washer/ dryer in the garage stocked with detergent and a new bbq . Playa Negra was the perfect location for us; secluded, quite, and beautiful but close enough to activities and the tourist town of Tamarindo ( we made a few trips to the auto mercado for groceries, very much like a US grocery store) and a short drive to Lola's for lunch and drinks. Our favorite place to grab a bite in the area was at Cafe Playa Negra, very good food and friendly service. When we arrived it was the beginning of the rainy season and we did have some rain each day which was always very brief and a nice cool down. Hummingbirds, butterflies, birds, and other wildlife provided great photo opportunities. Meaghan and Jarrod were fantastic! Always available to answer questions and help if you needed anything. We enjoyed meeting and talking with them and hope to return to one of their properties that they manage in the near future . This was our first trip to CR and we can't wait to return. It was also our first non resort vacation and everything went smooth and better than I imagined it could be. The abundance of nature and beauty of the land as well as the kindness of the people makes Cosa Rica a place I recommend to everyone. Pura Vida"

  • Once in a lifetime experience

"Our trip to Costa Rica was such a cool experience. This home on the hill offers more than you can imagine. It is wonderfully furnished and beautifully decorated. The bed in the master bedroom is so comfortable and the open-air style of the home allows you to interact with the natural surroundings. We had evening visits from the local howler monkeys and looked forward to their visits each night. Be sure to rent an SUV to reach this home and to navigate the roads in the area. We loved the local beaches at Playa Juanillo and Playa Negra but also ventured out on a day trip suggested by the owners. We found wonderful restaurants, interesting people and great shopping within 45 minutes of the treehouse. The only downside for us was that it was really hot while we were there. We traveled at the end of the dry season and temps reached into the 90's. The owners were great to work with us regarding the reservation. Our outgoing flight was cancelled and we had to arrive much later than expected on our first day. Paul and Jeanne made arrangements to accommodate our late arrival and followed up to be sure everything went okay for us. A part of my heart will always be in this beautiful jungle home."
