  • Great House! Tough Surf...

"We just returned from an 11 day visit to Villa Carramar. It was our third trip to Costa Rica (first trip to Playa Negra) and we shared the house with our dear friends totaling 10 people. Full disclosure - we came here for a surf vacation but during our stay, the largest swell of the year made it too dangerous for us to surf several of the days we were here. It would have been epic if we were more skilled but as it was, we had to drive to nearby Avellanas (15 min away) to get smaller waves. There was plenty of room at the house for everyone and we really enjoyed the open character. The pool was also great...kids loved it! We also enjoyed seeing the monkeys in the mango trees and all the forage around the house - very cool. Big picture takeaway from my perspective - 4x4 vehicle is a requirement (we nearly got stuck and nearly hit a fence on the drive to the property) during this time of year when the rains are frequent, the beach is very rocky and not exactly user friendly for kids, and getting supplies was an ordeal causing a lot of time in transit. Also, during our stay, the house underwent some required maintenance (roof replacement) that was quite noisy at times. Gina was great! She helped us contract a cook for our stay and I highly recommend anyone going to ask for Alexandra (she goes by Shenita). She cooked some really great meals! But like I said, you have to be prepared to make a few runs to the grocery store during your stay (45 min away) as Playa Negra is lacking on supplies. If you want to eat out, Hotel Deeveena is an excellent place (it is $$$$, so be prepared) as well as Jalapeños. If you want to rent surf equipment, I can't say enough good things about Javier at Pargos Surf Adventures (http://pargosadventures.com), he's great! Overall, I'd recommend this location for people with excellent surfing skills that don't mind walking a bit and/or driving to the break. I will also say that the owner, Jon, was a pleasure to work with."

  • Didn't want to leave!!

"We just spent 9 days at Villa Buena Vista and fell in love!!! The property is perched up on a hill overlooking the ocean. The wrap around patio was perfect for listening to the waves role in and the landscaping was lush!! The house was clean and very comfortable. Both Anna Maria and her brother Ernesto were AMAZING!!! We felt very safe knowing that Ernesto was on the property. Anna Maria cleaned each day for us and the best part was the laundry that she did. Coming home from vacation with a family of 5 and all of our clothes clean = Priceless!! We also made arrangements to have Anna Maria cook some breakfast and lunches for us and they were also wonderful!! There are 4 dogs on the property in which we also loved, my kids became attached to each of them and they always greeted us when we returned!! I highly recommend this property and the only consideration would be that one of the bedrooms is on the lower level of the house with its own entrance. None of my kids wanted to sleep down there so depending on who your traveling with or the ages of your kids this may be a problem or it could be an asset. We made it work and would rent this house again in a heart beat!!"

  • Beautiful and well maintained!

"We had a family of 7 stay at Casablanca on June 11-18, 2016. The property grounds were lovely and very clean. It was comforting to have a security guard on the grounds. Upon entering the villa it was quite impressive, with beautiful amenities and fully equipped! Although we did not have a view of the beach, it was right across the street! The iguanas, crabs, howler monkeys, and birds on and around the property was an added delight! Walking to town was a daily short venture with cute little shops and great restaurants. We would definitely recommend staying at this villa. Also the property management group was very helpful. Thank you, Syd and Lynn!"

  • Sharon and Greg W Ontario, Canada

"It was our second visit to the condo ; this time for 9 weeks. The spacious balcony located above the pool is sunny with partial shade. It provides a fine view of the surrounding landscape. The interior is well furnished and the kitchen has everything you need. Groceries and car/golf cart rentals are a 5 minute walk beyond the security gates. There are numerous shops, local markets and restaurants along the 1 km stroll to the ocean. Should you choose to do some excursions be sure to drop in on the Sibu Tours storefront. Their services cannot be beat. The condo provides all the amenities needed. The owners ensure everything is as advertised. Milagro, the management company, are great people to work with. Using this condo as a base will ensure a comfortable, safe and carefree vacation."
