  • Casa Jewel

"This is a must see "million dollar view" from the balcony of this house. The home itself is amazing, very spacious and my favorite part is the outdoor shower! The infinity pool is a bit on the small size but I still loved it and the view is the most amazing you will find in that area. You can see that "millon dollar view" literally from most every room in the house. This is an awesome place for a family with children or several couples to spend a vacation in (both the house & the country). They have different things to offer from you fully doing everything on your own to having full service at the house, ie. housekeeping, cooking, driver, etc... I have stayed at Casa Jewel a couple of times and I would highly recommend it. It is in walking distance of the beach (I will say the trip down is easier than the trip up, there are a couple of steep areas but you can do it! lol) and my favorite Costa Rican restaurant, Father Roosters (which also has an amazing view of the water and sits right on the beach). Most tour guides will come directly to the house to pick you up, cabs are easily gotten for a trip into the town of Playa del Coco if you want to shop or eat just tell them Casa Joya in Ocotal and most know where that is. The Monkey Farm is literally right behind the house in walking distance, there is always a great bunch of volunteers there. I made a new friend, Stuart Calderon, who has a shop in Coco with his mom, Estela and he is the most amazing tour guide you will find in Costa Rica in my book and can help you schedule any tour you can imagine at the best prices (tell him his friend from Mississippi sent you). I will keep going back every chance I get, it never gets old! I could literally just sit on the deck or in the infinity pool and stare at the view the entire time and it would be worth it. I love it!!!!! PURA VIDA!!!"

  • Best Vacation Ever!

"My family (2 adults, 3 teenagers) stayed here for 12 days. The villa is amazing. It has everything you need to complete your vacation in paradise. The villa is large, comfortable, and well stocked. The owner, Al, went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect, including helping with a rental car, suggesting places to visit, and telling us which grocery store he would recommend. The environment is so beautiful, that you don't even need to leave the villa and beach area to have a great time. The view is fantastic, and the snorkeling right off the beach is great. I sure miss going to sleep hearing the waves whooshing on the shore."

"Casa Flores is a great getaway for a large family or for a group of adults who want to get away from the louder, touristy hotels in Guancasta but still stay in luxury with a lot of privacy and quiet. The exotic looking photos of the website are realized in the very natural setting where nearly every room has a view of the great natural surroundings. There are many exotic birds and iguanas just outside and the flowering trees and bushes really make you feel like you are in your own private jungle hideaway. The views are great all day long but the morning sunrise is spectacular. The pool circulates the water all day which keeps it unusually cool and clean and is a nice refresher after the warmer water of the bay. The beach has only a few other people from the surrounding luxury properties and we felt we could leave our beach chairs and other things there all day without worry. The kitchen is a good size but some of the food prep tools and pots/pans could use upgrading/updating. They could use a larger grill for a larger meal if the house is full. The WIFI worked very well and could even be accessed outdoors. The beach items and toys/sports equipment were good. There is pretty good snorkeling at both ends of the short, maybe 400 meter beach. It is a short but strenuous walk to several fine restaurants and bars down the hill. The other houses in the neighborhood look extraordinary and give the whole area a luxurious and private feel. All the beds were fine to sleep in and the air conditioning was up to standards of the states. The team of Renee and Marcos were professional and responsive and made the check in/out process very smooth."
