  • Costa Rica Fun!

"Our family of seven, stayed for the week over New Years 2016. It was fabulous! It was our first time to Costa Rica and we absolutely loved Playas del Coco! The condo was wonderful, everything you could ask for and more. Spacious rooms and living areas, kitchen, washer/dryer, a/c, patio with grill, pools, gated secure complex and super nice and friendly neighbors and staff. You'll want to bring a few toiletry items, like tp, paper towels, napkins and laundry soap but everthing else is there. We brought our own beach towels but there were some there also. We loved it! We were so comfortable there and everyone was so nice. The short walk to the beach was great, you were there in two minutes and the mini mart was very handy. There are so many restaurants it's hard to know which are best, I'd just give them a try. We liked Cafe de Playa and Tiki Coco. There are plenty of shops to get your souvenirs and numerous tour operators for whatever you're looking for. We booked the catamaran tour on the Visions boat which was really handy getting on right at the beach. The boat ride, free drinks, snorkeling and sunset were amazing. The buffet was so so and I'd recommend getting in line right away as the food does run out. Overall a fun activity though. We also enjoyed the drive out to Volcan Arenal, though it does take a few hours and is very, very narrow and windy roads. Lots of great hiking and restaurants to stop along the way. Our most fun adventure was the Canon de la Vieja Adventure tours. We did a full day combo that included awesome zip lining, rock wall rapelling (not for everyone-it's hard!), horse back riding, whitewater tube rafting (do the tubes not the kayaks- way more fun), an amazing buffet lunch- the food was superperb, fresh and plentiful, and finished up with a sauna, body mud mask, jump in the river and then relaxing hot spring soak. It's right outside Liberia, so not far to travel. If you have a car, drive yourself, it will save you up to $50 a person. We loved hanging out at the beach and swimming in the pools. The beach is a pretty black sand and swimming is just lovely. A nice sandy bottom, no weeds or sharp edges. The pools were great and so nice to have right outside your patio door. We loved it! Julie and Ron are great and we definitely recomend their condo! We plan to return and have family members interested as well, you won't be disappointed! The O's."

  • Precisely what we were hoping for and more

"My wife and I stayed at Casa Holmes for 10 days and I can very much say it was exactly what we were hoping for and more. One of the most overlooked components of booking a property through VRBO/HomeAway is the interaction with the owner and I can tell you first hand that Nita is absolutely amazing to work with. She is responsive, informative, and well deserving of your trust. On top of that, Wes & Lisa, the local property managers, couldn't be more helpful. We had a small snafu - I forgot my driver's license - and Wes & Lisa made it a non-issue for us by introducing us to people we needed to know and helping us get it down to CR via DHL (no small feat). The property itself has THE best view in Playa Coco - even better than the Lookout. We found ourselves just relaxing on the deck and not even wanting to go anywhere else. The house also has just about everything you may need.... from snorkeling gear (there's a neat little rock about 100 yds out in front of the house that is fun to poke around) to a great little stereo (don't bring bluetooth speakers like we did - you don't need them for the house) to an extremely well appointed kitchen. A few things - make sure you rent a vehicle with AWD/4WD. We were without a vehicle for 5 days and the driveway will give you a serious workout... I would believe there are many people who would actually not be able to make it up without help (i.e. my mother, etc.). There is a GREAT little store about 300 yds down the street that has just about everything the larger stores do but I think many people don't know it exists. The house comes with a local cell phone - it's extremely handy. There are a few things I could nit-pick about but we have stayed in many homes around the world is this property is easily deserving of a 5 star rating as is Nita and the way she welcomes you into her home. We would recommend this property to friends and family but also kind of want to keep it to ourselves. :)"

  • Costa Rica Vacation April 2016

"We shared the condo with another couple and it worked out great for us. We had a beautiful view in the morning and a fabulous sunset in the evening. The only thing it was a little warm to sit too long on the patio. We didn't have hot water when we arrived because someone had shut off the hot water heater. This was an easy fix and we had hot water by the time we returned from dinner. The Pacifico Village was really nice. The complex is beautifully landscaped, very clean and we always felt safe. The security guards were always patrolling the area. It was very quite and we had the pool to ourselves most of the time. I would recommend this condo to others. I would also recommend eating in some of the nights because most of the restaurants are outdoor seating and without air-conditioning."

  • Family with young kids

"Two families met at this house with 2 toddlers and a baby. House is just as pictured. Very clean. Has all the appliances/amenities one would need. However it does NOT come with AC throughout (only in the bedrooms) which is fine but just different from what the website says. Also does have a washing machine but NOT a dryer (although there are clothes lines outside). Pool is lovely, kept clean daily by groundskeeper who lives right next door. This guy is also available for any other concerns or questions, although we had none. Property manager, Randy, was friendly and met us at the house upon arrival. Seems like a good guy. We were concerned about having to pay with cash only (does not take credit cards except for deposit) but it was all legit. Property is located directly on the beach and along a strip of homes. Next door neighbors are visible from yard but with landscape still have a fair amount of privacy. It was perfect for us: we like our privacy but also good to not be too secluded when in a foreign country. We felt very safe in this area. Locks on house are appropriate. Beach is clean and no rocks, but unfortunately is a little steep and also small during high tide, so not a great beach for kids to play on. Beach not too crowded. Good for sitting to watch the sunset, taking walks and playing in the water. Water was clean (no seaweed) and fairly warm, but was not the crystal blue waters like we've seen on other beaches (not sure if that's due to location or timing). Grassy part of yard in January was completely burnt yellow and dry, unlike the nice green lush grass seen in the pics, so again not great for kids to play on. No crib available but we made do making bumpers around a bed for the baby. Huge roosters were in our yard each morning and a family of monkeys came to visit us one afternoon-- fun for the kids!"
