  • Beautiful oasis

"This was my second visit to Playa Guiones, my first time staying at Casa Olaje: I will be back! This house was the perfect space for the 2 couples that traveled together, the large kitchen and living/ dining areas provided plenty of space and tools for cooking and spending time together and the bedrooms are perfect little pockets of personal respite. We enjoyed the beautiful landscaped yard and all the wildlife attracted to the plants. The sheltered pool and multiple hammocks were welcome spaces between surf sets. The house is close enough to walk to town and the beach is minutes away by private path. The owners arrived during our stay and were close at hand in an upstairs apartment when we needed anything (but not omnipresent); the management company also answered email and text promptly when ewe needed them. We look forward to coming back to this beautiful home in this amazing little town :)"

  • Perfect Family Retreat in Playa Hermosa

"We had a wonderful time staying at Chris' unit in Villas Sol! At first, my husband was a little disappointed that the unit didn't have the view offered by many others advertised on VRBO in Playa Hermosa. However, we quickly realized that our unit's proximity to the beach was far more important and convenient than if we had rented a villa with a view as those units were all located up a very steep hillside! The unit itself was very clean and spacious and had all of the amenities we needed. The patio was perfect for playing board games, dining al fresco or simply reading and/or napping on a chaise and the small pool was ideal for our use with two small children ages 5 and 2. They LOVED it!! Plus, if we wanted to go socialize and play around in a bigger pool, there was that option also with the other two resort pools! Being in the complex itself made us feel safer and it was nice knowing that if we needed ANYTHING (especially having small children with us) there was always 24 hour staff that could assist us. Another great thing about being a part of the resort was that they offered great tours, as well as car rentals. I highly recommend getting shuttled into Villas Sol (preferably by Liberia Shuttle-Javier is great!) and renting a car from the resort. As it turned out, it was actually CHEAPER to rent from them than it was to rent near the airport AND it was much more convenient. Playa Hermosa itself was so peaceful with very few people on it at any given time. It is definitely not the 'mill' that Playas del Coco or Tamarindo are where you have people begging for money or trying to sell you things at your every turn. I think we were approached maybe twice to buy something the entire week we were in Playa Hermosa. As for restaurants, we favored Roberto's! We found it to have the best location, delicious food and a wonderful waitstaff!! AquaSport was also another fun spot a little further down. And if you rent a car, you MUST find Father Roosters! It's kind of tucked away in Playa Ocotal, but once you find it, you'll love it! Good food (although a bit on the pricey side), great entertainment and waitstaff and spectacular sunsets! Just a really unique place! All in all, we had a fabulous time while staying at Chris' unit and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!! She, too, was a gem to work with and made everything very simple and stress-free. We can't wait to return to our newly found paradise as soon as possible!"

  • Once in a lifetime experience

"Our trip to Costa Rica was such a cool experience. This home on the hill offers more than you can imagine. It is wonderfully furnished and beautifully decorated. The bed in the master bedroom is so comfortable and the open-air style of the home allows you to interact with the natural surroundings. We had evening visits from the local howler monkeys and looked forward to their visits each night. Be sure to rent an SUV to reach this home and to navigate the roads in the area. We loved the local beaches at Playa Juanillo and Playa Negra but also ventured out on a day trip suggested by the owners. We found wonderful restaurants, interesting people and great shopping within 45 minutes of the treehouse. The only downside for us was that it was really hot while we were there. We traveled at the end of the dry season and temps reached into the 90's. The owners were great to work with us regarding the reservation. Our outgoing flight was cancelled and we had to arrive much later than expected on our first day. Paul and Jeanne made arrangements to accommodate our late arrival and followed up to be sure everything went okay for us. A part of my heart will always be in this beautiful jungle home."

  • Property has a great view and location!

"Property is in a great location, property was clean accessible. The internet is hit or miss and that was disclosed to us up front not surprises there. There are plenty of places to sit down and Wifi access. Overall the time we spend at the property was tremendous. After walking along the beach all day can emphasize how nice it was to come back and relax at the pool which by the afternoon is shaded. Coffee place next to the complex convenient. All in all a great relaxing trip we look forward to coming back next year."
