  • Cleanest, Safest, and most economical place to stay in Guiones

"Villa Canadiense is clean, safe, and has everything you need to relax. I stayed there for two weeks in January/February 2016 and lived care free and happy. Me and three of my friends surfed all day every day at the world famous Guiones beaches and had a blast. The local Ticos were friendly (as long as you didn't paddle battle for waves) and the local Super (grocery store) and sodas (mom and pop restaurants) were relatively inexpensive and convenient. Villa Canadiense is only a short walk through the jungle to the beach and I woke each morning eager to see the wild dogs and other native critters that inhabited the area. At the Villa, we had everything we needed. We cooked plenty of meals, relaxed by the pool, listened to local music and partied. One night, we even had dinner with the owner of the Villa. She was great. There was plenty of room for all of us and four longboards. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT LOOK AT ANY OTHER PLACES IN GUIONES. Villa Canadiense is the cleanest, safest, economical, and most convenient place to stay. Each day we left a tip for the cleaners, and most of the time, if we didn't specifically tell her to take it, we would return from surfing to find the tip untouched. The staff is like family and made our stay worry-free. We already booked our stay for next year and plan to return there each year to surf and take in the local scene."

  • Wonderful house, staff and location

"Wonderful home. Spacious with plenty of room for large groups to spend together and large rooms for ours teenagers to hide away in. Great kitchen. Staff is friendly and personable. Having the option for meals to be cooked was a blessing. Not having to eat out for every meal was great. Not having the burden of planning every meal (and grocery shopping) was a blessing. Plus the meals were excellent! The pool isn't huge, but was big enough to cool off and lounge in. The beach is a 2 minute walk away. And what a great beach. Perfect for all to enjoy. The location of the house is ideal. A short water taxi (or hike if the tide is low) to Tamarindo where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. To the north are a trove of other wonderful beaches to explore as well as adventures such as ATV, zip line and snorkeling/scuba. It was so nice to be so close to everything we wanted to do, yet have our quiet retreat to return to each day. The only thing to be aware of is the last 2km of the road. Can be pretty bumpy and muddy. We were glad to have the raised 4WD. Not that we needed the 4WD but it was reassuring that we had it. This was our first trip to Costa Rica. Everyone had a great time and looks forward to returning. Would definitely consider another stay at Case de Estrella!"

  • Secluded, Safe and Tranquil...

"yet close to everything you could want in Costa Rica. My wife and I have been travelling to Costa Rica frequently over the past 15 years, always in Guanacaste from Tamarindo to Playa Del Coco and this was the best location yet. Close to the bustling Tamarindo beach for world-class fishing and the beachy night life, but far enough (just a few minute drive though) to feel away from it all in this Playa Grande villa. Its location is quiet, within a gated, small enclave and its own less populated, even secluded, beaches and business district (meaning a store or two for anything you'd need, good restaurants and beach/surf shops). Perfect for a romantic getaway or a family jaunt; it'll fit the bill for either. Richard is as prompt and easy to deal with as any owner you'll deal with and he/his team are wonderfully helpful with trip planning. You can rent bikes, boards or horses within walking distance and there's never much traffic - another big plus as opposed to Tamarindo, if that matters to you. We also tried the in-villa chef visit with "Ander" (ask your concierge) and it was a fabulous experience with amazing food - lobster bisque and swordfish with a bacon wrap over risotto... it rivals a higher-end, big city fine dining experience, presentation included... but cozier. Great service and when they're done, you wont see a sign they were even there!! They clean everything, put away left overs and you do nothing but enjoy the dinner - I had them deliver a local flower arrangement too - this is one time, you wont know you're in a third world country - excellent experience! The Villa is more than enough for a couple with plenty of space to spare and would be great for a family too giving everyone plenty of room to spread out and relax. The fully stocked kitchen has all the features you'd want and like all of the rooms, plenty of beautiful wood cabinetry to hide away all your stuff. Large bedrooms throughout with a beautiful master and accompanying well-sized master bath. Everything is super clean and the management service is readily available with just a phone call. Ceiling fans and cool air moving well throughout the villa after a hot day on the ocean or beach with air conditioning units in each room (important for us as we keep it pretty cool). Overall, very serene location, beautiful, secure and private villa just a short walk from pristine beach, and laid back atmosphere all over town... Pura Vida awaits you @ Richard's Playa Grande Villa."

  • Perfect Cozy place

"Casa Camaleon is a wonderful casita just a 5 minute walk from Playa Grande where you can hear the waves. It is very clean and perfect for a small family or a couple friends looking to surf and explore. Security was there even at 2am when we first arrived to let us into the place. Murat is a great property manager very kind and helpful. I would absolutely go back and stay here again."
