  • Amazing Vacation!

"Eight couples embarked on a week long vacation in Costa Rica's Playa Ocotal. We were fortunate enough to book Villa Ocotal! I begin by stating that everything was perfect, from the location of this wonderful villa, it's rooms, dinning area, pool, and staff. Guillermo was a wonderful contact and Rafael amazing! Maria Luisa's cooking was superb and we miss it very much! Everyone was kind, friendly, attentive without being obtrusive. We all arrived as family and friends and departed as such, I think due to the fabulous time we all had during our stay. If are reading this then you are seriously considering booking and I urge you to do it! Do it now, you'll be happy that you did."

  • Wonderful villa, great location, A1 service

"We stayed here for a week and we had a wonderful time. We were 6 adults and 3 children (3 month-old, 6 month-old, 1 year old). Liris, from Coastal Management, offered a great service. She arranged the rental of cribs for the babies. She answered to all my questions and emails rapidly. I had a few questions during our stay and Liris either answered rapidly or sent someone. She suggested to use Xplore for airport shuttle. They were easy to find at the airport. We stopped by a grocery to buy water, snacks (and beer), got our keys at Coastal Management and then arrived at the villa. It was rapid and I strongly suggest it. At our arrival, the 3 bedrooms were fresh and almost cold! The AC in the bedrooms works fine. Of course, it was a little hotter in the living room area because there is only 1 AC machine in the kitchen but we were confortable even when it was 37 degrees outside. Anyways, we were there to travel, go the the beach and enjoy the pool. The pool is small but perfect. The roof top jacuzzi worked well. We enjoyed it in the morning and at night. We bought briquettes for the BBQ at the grocery and we even enjoyed grilled fish on the roof top. My only negatives points was that one of our key set didn't have to right key to open the gate. Fortunately there is always a guard around to open the gate if needed. Also, the dishwasher needs a tune-up. Tamarindo is walking distance, about 15-25 minutes depending on your energy! It is not a paved road so it can be hard with an umbrella-type stroller. Langosta beach is really near. It is OK but a little bit rocky. They is a beach access just after the Capitan Suizo hotel and on your way, you will find a boardshop with Surf rentals and a coffee shop (near Fish and Cheeses). There is a small store for water and other essentials at about 100 meters from the villa. Also a restaurant called Boca. We rented an SUV and explored different beaches. Avellana was my personal favorite. Tamarindo is a great location with a lot of restaurants. A little bit touristic, not so much "typical" but great with children."

  • Perfect week

"A terrific week at Casa Velas. We were 3 families--7 adults, 4 kids under 12 and the house met all our needs. Having the pool and beach so accessible meant the kids were always entertained and the spaciousness of the property met the adults could relax and even work in privacy. Having the 5 bedrooms air conditioned was a godsend in a very hot week. The gentle sloping beach meant the kids could play in the water while the adults surfed. Ana the cook and housekeeper cooked us 2 great meals and kept the house free of sand. When we cooked we realized the cookware-- especially the skillets and frying pans need updating. Not having a car was not a problem. We often took the 15 minute walk to the estuary and took the boat ($1 per person) to Tamarindo. Don't try swimming it---one day we saw the 10 foot crocodile. When we made reservations at Seven for their Friday night barbecue ($10) they sent a pickup truck to pick all of us up and return us afterwards. Mariana of "You Are Costa Rica" provided us with transportation, tours, surfing lessons and even some supplies (a case of beer) as well as advice. We were also fortunate to be there when the mangoes on the property were ripe and when the Howler monkeys came to eat. A great week and we all hope to return."

  • My stay at CASA MIRAMAR in Guanacaste

"The view was beyond belief. The property was perfect for our group, everyone had their own room with an on suite. We were able to walk to the beach, shops and several places to eat! Donald was wonderful but Marta didn't seem to take care of the other rooms as well as she did the first floor Master. Also we didn't get a wash cloth or hand towel in the Master until we had been there two days. My daughter never got a bath towel and shared mine. We were not sure if it was her job to take care of the trash in the kitchen or not but we had to ask where to put it. Perhaps it was not her responsibility and the linens may be all that was available so we didn't let it interfere with our overall joy!"
