  • Wonderful place to enjoy the natural beauty of the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica!

"My husband and I were lucky to spend a week at Casa de Earlybirds in late September, which, by the way, is a wonderful time to visit. We had almost no rain and the beaches to ourselves. The layout of the house is great: up on the second floor looking out over the jungle toward the beach. The design is nice, too; lots of wood and interesting items decorate the space. The open living area allows the sights and sounds to be with you always...the roar of ocean waves, beautiful plants and the monkeys and birds. The toucans squabble in the trees in front of the house, so we got some pictures of these fabulous birds. The howler monkeys visited a few times in large family groups. My favorite time of day was early morning with coffee in the protected "outdoor" living room. Once the sun was up, so was I; not wanting to miss anything! (my husband slept in!) The property is within a protected wildlife area, and our wanderings around the neighborhood provided as much nature viewing as any excursion we took! We rented bikes in Puerto Viejo, and rode between the different beaches along the road. We enjoyed swimming at the beach just outside our gate. Favorite restaurants: Cool Calm Cafe in Manzanillo, Selvin in Punta Uva, and Carribean Coffee shop...(the tour of their organic chocolate farm is fantastic). The owners of Casa de Earlybirds are easy to deal with and the caretaker downstairs is helpful. All in all, this was the best week of our 3 week trip to Costa Rica."

  • Family Retreat

"Family of five getting away from the hustle of life. The house is absolutely beautiful, and the photos really don't do it justice. The wrap around deck and private pool with waterfall are great , and the views are amazing. It is a 15 min drive to main road, so when you venture out it is usually for the day. The electricity went out a few times while we were there-but other then that it was awesome. Howler monkeys, toucans, and lizards definitely entertained us. Uvita 360 was great for surfing, beach club was great- good body surfing. la Fogata became one of our favorite places to eat- we also enjoyed Sibu (amazing coffee), and The Bakers Bean is a great spot to pick up fresh emenadas to go. Thanks for sharing your home- very spacious and lovely."

  • Fun in the Sun (and Surf!) and Away from the Madding Crowd

"This sweet little retreat provided a delightful base for our group of old surf buddies to R&R and socialize poolside after riding super fun, consistent and uncrowded(!) waves out front. Set on a small hilltop overlooking the Pacific, the house is well-situated and private. The surrounding jungle delighted us with beautiful flowers, dancing butterflies, illusive iguanas, and vine-swinging howler monkeys. The home provided all the basic amenities (cooking utensils, refrigeration, fans, air conditioning, games, etc.) that we needed when we were not surfing. And Ostional Beach out front provided all the waves we could ride and a nice black sand shoreline to explore for shells and the famous sea turtles that seek refuge there. While we cooked most of our meals, there are a few worthwhile restaurants and a small market within walking distance . Meanwhile, the magnet tourist town of Nosara is only a 20 minute drive away if you seek a change of scene and wider variety of restaurants, shops, markets, and people-watching."

  • C.W.

"My husband and I had a wonderful time at Casa MiraMar. The view was amazing. The house was clean. We loved how close the house was to all of the sites and activities we wanted to do. Jane and Ryan (the owners) were very helpful in answering all of our questions before the trip and had great suggestions on places we should experience and see. There is a guest book at the house with others recommendations that we also found extremely helpful. We were able to go on this trip with little planned and had an amazing time. We highly recommend staying here and hope to return again soon!"
