  • Beatiful private villa

"We stayed at BPV in April 2016. I shared the apartment with my wife and 4 sons. There was plenty of room. I really believe that this is probably the perfect place to stay in Costa Rica. It's only a half hour to the airport. You can leave the US in the morning and be on the beach in the afternoon. Another restaurant and scuba diving is only 5 minutes away and Coco is only a few minutes beyond that. Coco is a fun place to walk around when tired of the beach. The villa faces a private beach without other tourists or a marina. Picante restaurant is as good as any in Costa Rica and you can almost roll out of bed into the restaurant. Al is a wonderful host who arranges all the details and can arrange many exciting excursions as well. We had a wonderful time and would go back in a heartbeat."

  • Will return

"The house is as advertised. Right on the beach. Clean, user friendly, lots of modern conveniences. We LOVED the howler monkey family that live on the property. Being able to walk the beach to town, restaurants, shops if we wanted and not having to walk the street was fabulous, but walking the street wasn't bad either, just not as beautiful and quiet. The 1 walk each way, every morning was a fantastic way to start your day. The weather was great, the water extremely warm and everyone very friendly and helpful. We wanted to see the sunset off the ocean and not the "bay" so walked to the far west side either at low tide or over the top of the hill. Real easy and way worth the walk. Fun condos, hotels and house on this side. What probably was the best was the overall best location of this house. Never crowded, wonderful to learn to surf and only a 40 minute ride from the airport. I would caution any one coming at Christmas. The crowds were so interesting to mingle with because every nationality was represented but the outdoor disco music that played between Christmas and New Years was some times difficult to handle when it went from 9 AM to 2 AM LOUD, like it was right next door but really was in town. Water carries sound :( In the beginning we thought the howler monkeys were loud but..... It didn't hamper our stay but would have liked it better at night to hear the waves and not the banging of the music. We will go back and will try to stay in this house again. You can be right on the beach (rarity), take a 30 second water taxi ride over to playa grande to see the turtles, 15 minutes to Ziplining with Monkey Jungle, see sunsets without leaving your area, go out to what ever kind of food you can imagine within a 10 minute walk and even walk to the Automarket grocery, if you don't mind a little further walk, or 5 minutes to the little market/store. We were able to drink the water 1/2 way through our stay without issues, we cooked most days and nights and had a great time. Places great to eat Shrimp Hole by 2001 grocery El Blula- Italian , great Pizza Falafal - great greek salad Wicked Jack area where they rent surf boards Nugi's for happy hour We NEVER got in a car or taxi after we were dropped off day one, except to Zipline"

  • Great stay at Flamingo beach with some epic sunsets

"We had a wonderful stay, great location! Lots of fun things to do at walkingdistance. We went surfing every day, which was about a 15min drive from the condo to playa Grande. The condo has everything you need, it has a big fully equiped kitchen for homemade dinners. We made some big tuna tartars in this kitchen, but also one of the great things to have at Angelina's.(Local restaurant). Oh and the sunsets are epic!"

  • Manage expectations and you'll like it

"First the good: the view is spectacular, and no photos do it any justice. The view, the pool, the location close to so many great beaches all make this a great place to day trip and see the Guanacaste area, provided you have a car. 4WD recommended, but not essential. The pool was great! My 6 year old daughter went from tentative swimmer to a fish in 6 days, and her swimming instructors couldn't believe it. Nice views, comfy beds (with a caveat below), and a tasteful decor. For 3 of us, it was the right size. Now the bad: first of all, the owner disappeared about two weeks before our arrival. I wrote several times asking for directions, etc. and no reply. Only when I was already in Costa Rica and filled out the form for prospective renters did I get a reply, the night before our arrival. Personally I don't like to travel this way. Maybe I've a lot to learn about "Pura Vida." As I said, the place has a great view, but is poorly equipped for someone with experience staying in VRBO properties. With so many photos of the kitchen and guests dining on the patio, I expected more. The kitchen is stocked as if a bachelor lived there - more George Foreman grills than wine glasses, and that's no exaggeration. There is basically one set of dishes, matching coffee mugs, some silverware and not much else. As someone who likes to cook I was extremely disappointed with so barren a kitchen. No mixing bowls, no potato peeler, no measuring cups, nothing even the most basic of kitchens would have to make a decent scratch meal. No spices, not even salt and pepper. I'd have gladly traded the cute welcome flashlights for a few spices and essential kitchen tools. Carlos was mostly helpful, but it always seemed like asking him for something was a little inconvenient for him. We did not realize that once we went through the stocked two rolls of toilet paper we'd have to buy our own. The Wifi was on and off; this must have impacted Carlos as well, as this was the one problem we had that carried a certain sense of urgency. That said, the TV was nice, and I encouraged our girl to watch her favorite cartoons in Spanish. No bedspreads on the bed. Just a topsheet. Hope that suits you cause that's all you get. And the poolside grill? Just a piece of aluminum grating. Seriously, another $300 on some more essentials and this place would rock; maybe the current renovation will help. I'm ranking at 3.5 stars; round it up to 4 only for the view and the pool."
