  • This IS the place to stay!

"We stayed a week March '16. It is hotter than the hubs of he-double-hockey-sticks, so be prepared! The property has security, very well manicured grounds, is small and quaint, off the beaten path, literally a few steps from the pool, and 1 minute walk through the locked gate to the ocean! The accommodations are great - private laundry rm - soap included, 2 single beds in one bedroom, a queen bed in the master with a master bath. Living room, dining and kitchen are spacious and have all that you need. 2nd bath off the living space that the teenagers used. Lots of towels! Kitchen is well stocked - dish soap included. There is a charcoal grill on the patio, but charcoal is more expensive than at home (Minnesota) and the fluid is a gel that is barely sufficient. The only thing I would improve on the property is the outside chairs as they have probably seen their better days, but were still functional for coffee in the a.m. and wine in the p.m. while listening to the ocean. You will see iguanas and geckos on property, as well as some birds. This property is off the beaten path, but still very close to town - 3 min drive. Be sure to hit the farmers market right down the road from the property on Saturday a.m. - pineapple is to die for! Beach walks are a must - go during low tide to check out the tide pools. If you have a car, go to the town of Guatil to check out the hand made pottery (the office can direct you) - 1st house on the left in town is Edwin - he is fantastic! He will give you a full tour and explanation of their pottery making process that has been handed down over generations. He took us to the backyard and there were iguanas in his mango tree as well as a Howler monkey! Awesome! Ask questions! Be sure to check out Tamarindo Beach, the boat tour in the Nat'l Park is worth it - monkeys eating from our hands and on our heads! This is a very popular area for surfing. The roads suck, period. Rent an SUV for sure. Don't eat at the Bocas restaurant - overpriced for what you get. Cooking in the villa saved us a ton of money, but groceries are not as cheap there as they are here. We went to 3 different grocery stores - all were comparable, but be prepared, they aren't like at home! We did have a couple maintenance issues in our villa - staff was prompt in repairing those items. CR is experiencing a major drought, we ran out of water, they bought 10,000 gallons, pump went out, hand repaired, up and running again. Would stay again!"

  • Nice Oasis

"Great gated property off the edge of the hustle of little Tamarindo. Less about the town- more about the house.... Well located. super outdoor area with an awesome pool with jets. the hot tub we didnt use since it was already hot out. Nice kitchen with adequate supplies to get essential cooking done. dishwasher. AC throughout worked very well and was a super addition. We found the lighting throughout to be a little on the dim side, especially in the kitchen area but it was adequate. Rooms were good size and the living room was a super space for gathering. Their were eight of us and we all had a bed. The little outbuilding has a bedroom and bathroom and is a cute addition. It had its own AC. Everything was very clean and in good order. The locks and keys were a little bit of a chore as they don't all match but we figured it out. The furnishings could use an update and/or a womens touch as they were just a little sparse. The courtyard was awesome with trees and plants. There is a grill in good condition but we did not use, and an outside table area. The owner was very accomodating and friendly. We had a few hiccups with travel that would have caused big problems but the owner was willing to be flexible- turned out we were able to make our scheduled visit as planned. The property manager was not around on the weekend but let us in quickly and answered the basic questions. The cat was a nice addition and added a little homeyness to the property. Its a fun place, and helped give us a great trip. We would recommend it and could stay again. We hit Rosa's and recommend it (worth the drive) and there is certainly no lack of places to eat in Tamarindo. Just not enough days. We had cars and would recommend the convenience. Enjoy!"

  • Magical Beyond Belief!

"This was my first visit to Costa Rica, four of us came to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and I have to say that we all were overwhelmed with the beauty and the charm of this property, you could not be closer to the ocean. When we arrived, Perla (love her!), welcomed us with a warm smile and a great meal. She was very attentive to anything that we needed. Our laundry was done, house was clean, we were very spoiled!! Even prepared a great dinner with a fish that we caught the day before - heavenly!! Mel and Perla were very helpful with suggestions as far as fishing, zip lining and just the overall experience. We were able to walk to some local restaurants and even go to one of the local hotels and use their pool. When we wanted to just chill, we took advantage of the balcony that overlooks the ocean, we even got treated to a big tropical rain storm!! We would definitely go back, and recommend this property to anyone. Thanks Mel and Perla for giving us an amazing experience!"

  • Best Vacation EVER!!

"I am hesitant to write this review because it is a gem and I want to be able to rent it in the future but if you want to have the most wonderful holiday you need to stay at Casa Pacifica. Located between two of the most glorious and different beaches in Costa Rica minutes away walking. Just amazing. The house is over the top, providing everything you need. Pool was amazing and the outdoor shower too. The beds were SO comfortable. The kayaks were super fun to have, we paddled out to Isla Chora with turtles all around, the hermit crabs on the Isla were wonderful as well. Howler Monkeys, lizards, crabs, butterflies, flowers, crocodiles and so many birds. Doesn't get any better. Samara is a special place. We enjoyed coconut water from fresh coconuts everyday, the restaurants were yummy and the people beyond lovely. Pura vida. Pura vida. As mentioned in a previous review EVERYONE associated with this glorious home was so helpful, kind and friendly. I hope you get a chance to enjoy what we did, we can't wait to return."
