  • For a 5 star memory

"Our family of 11 (3 generations, ages 67 thru 8) spent a week here over New Years. The goal was to make some memories. Mission accomplished....in spades. The view cannot be captured in pictures. Outstanding. The property exceeded everyone's expectation. The staff was top notch. The food delicious. Kids still talking about Diego's breakfast burritos. Carolos kept everyone supplied with Pina Coladas and mojitos. So accommodating to the adults as well as the kids. Thelma and Olitia kept everything spotless as well as did our laundry...which we certainly didn't expect. Andre, our driver for the week (which I highly recommend. No worries) Nester and his wife Carole, the administrators of the property and owners of Savannah Trek (http://www.savannahtrekcr.com/en/ ) had everything we wanted arranged. Not one hiccup. They thought of everything. The tours they selected were a huge hit with all the ages. Nestor was great tour guide and everyone learned so much. As well as not have to be in big crowds waiting in line which was huge with 5 kids. Bottom line. If you are looking to have a vacation you will always remember......look no further. Vista de Oro. Pure Vida!"

  • Birthday family trip

"The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the house was not quite as well kept as in the pictures. Although the house is still beautiful, it seems in need of a little maintenance, mostly on the outside. I do, however, want to praise and compliment the concierge manager and chef! Both were very welcoming, accommodating with excellent service and manners. Fabrice, the concierge manager, was waiting at the house upon on our arrival and continued to connect with us throughout the week to ensure we had everything we needed and were set for our activities. He even handled a potential problem quickly and calmly. It was so refreshing to know he was just a call away, if we needed anything at all. Camille and Pascal, the chefs, were also wonderful and the food was delicious! They even made a beautiful cake for my daughter's birthday. I highly recommend hiring them for a meal or two while your stay at Wood Box."

  • Second time around.

"Second visit for our family to Condo # 4. Great location, short drive to town (supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants, etc.), very well equipped from kitchen to bedroom, A/C worked great in July Samara heat, gorgeous pool in what you would feel is the middle of the jungle."

  • Cleanest, Safest, and most economical place to stay in Guiones

"Villa Canadiense is clean, safe, and has everything you need to relax. I stayed there for two weeks in January/February 2016 and lived care free and happy. Me and three of my friends surfed all day every day at the world famous Guiones beaches and had a blast. The local Ticos were friendly (as long as you didn't paddle battle for waves) and the local Super (grocery store) and sodas (mom and pop restaurants) were relatively inexpensive and convenient. Villa Canadiense is only a short walk through the jungle to the beach and I woke each morning eager to see the wild dogs and other native critters that inhabited the area. At the Villa, we had everything we needed. We cooked plenty of meals, relaxed by the pool, listened to local music and partied. One night, we even had dinner with the owner of the Villa. She was great. There was plenty of room for all of us and four longboards. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT LOOK AT ANY OTHER PLACES IN GUIONES. Villa Canadiense is the cleanest, safest, economical, and most convenient place to stay. Each day we left a tip for the cleaners, and most of the time, if we didn't specifically tell her to take it, we would return from surfing to find the tip untouched. The staff is like family and made our stay worry-free. We already booked our stay for next year and plan to return there each year to surf and take in the local scene."
