  • Beach House Made for an amazing vacation

"We spent 6 days at the beach house with our four kids, ages 6 to 11. We had a great time. Spent time at the beach every day. The Dodge's were great hosts and loaned us some boogie boards, the kids would go out and play in the surf for hours. The kids collected beautiful shells, sand dollars, and built sand castles for big and small hermit crabs to live in. The beach was perfect. The sand gradually slopes into the ocean, gently enough that my 6 year old that doesn't swim very well could still go out into the ocean without too much worry. We sometimes felt we had the beach all to ourselves. The beach was clean and felt very safe. The sunsets were amazing. Comparing to any of the other beaches we went to, for our family Playa Grande was the best."

  • Wonderful stay, as described

"We had a wonderful time staying at this condo in Samara! It was very much as described in the listing and the reviews of others. The owner and the local hostess were wonderful and helpful! The rooms were all very clean and the kitchen provided all of the essentials for us. If you go out of the condo complex to your right, there is a little grocery store and little café. The walk into the downtown from the condo is a little far for a quick meal or with many people. So we were glad to have our rental car. It is nice though that it was a little outside of town as Samara is a nightlife town and we enjoyed the quiet and rest. There's a beautiful view from the pool area of the beach and we loved the afternoon pool times. Overall, it was a quick but wonderful stay in Samara at this condo! I recommend it!"

  • Beautiful Home with Great Property Managers

"My family and I had a great time at Villa Aurelia. The home is beautiful, the kitchen is great, and we all loved the pool. We spent our mornings at the beach and the afternoons at the pool - can't ask for a better vacation. The property managers were also great in helping us arrange for a personal chef to come to the house (who was wonderful!), book excursions, book our rental car and just navigate around the city. But there were a couple of things I wish we had known before we arrived. The home sits on a hill, which allows for a great view of Playa Hermosa. But the drive up to the house isn't ideal. Only the part right by the house is paved, and the rest is a steep, uneven dirt road. A rental car is a must, and you won't really be able to walk anywhere from the house because of the hill. Especially if you have young children, like we did. The other item we wished we had known about was the water. We were told about two days before our trip that there were severe water restrictions in place, but they shouldn't impact our vacation as long as we limited the length of our showers. Not a big deal. When we arrived the water tank was about 1/3 full, which was enough to last us a few days. But because of the above mentioned road, the water truck didn't fill the tank on Monday like they were supposed to. We went a day and a half without running water at the house, which was frustrating. The property managers were very helpful in fixing the pipe down to the road and getting trucks to come out as quickly as the could to refill the tank. Hopefully the pipe they installed prevents this from happening to anyone else, but just wanted to share our experience. And although it was frustrating, we still had a wonderful vacation."

  • One of the best Vactions ever

"My family of 8 visited Costa Rica in July 2016 and stayed at Casa Marbella. It is a beautiful, spacious house and well-appointed. The beds were great and I slept like a baby. Plenty of restrooms for my wife and three daughters. There are two masters with huge bathrooms. Our large family never felt cramped. Overall a great house to spend your vacation. I was anticipating the house being located more in the jungle but it is actually in a subdivision and you had to go through 2 guard gates. Although the backyard does have some trees and vegetation it was not as dense as I thought it would be. We did see the fruit bats that camped each day on the front porch awning. Also saw a tarantula. Neither the bats nor the tarantula paid us any attention and I thought it was actually a cool experience. Didn't see any monkeys at the house. The pool was a lot of fun but we only used it 3 or 4 times and never for any length of time. It is a bit narrower than the pictures looked to me. But we spent a lot of time at Playa Avellana and the Beach Club. Playa Avellana is so sandy and soft. The Beach Club beach is a bit rocky and I stumped my toes a few times under water. The Beach Club and Playa Avellana are about a five minute walk from each other. The water temperature is enjoyable and when I had enough of the ocean, I never really got too hot sitting on the beach either. Maybe that explains why we were at the beach for almost 10 hours one day. We loved the beaches. Sunsets are beautiful. I recommend eating at Lola's at Playa Avellana also. Sooo good. We ate at home most nights and the kitchen was more than adequate. Food prices are bit expensive, more than the US I thought. But it is a tourist area. The golf cart came in handy when going to the JW Marriott and the Beach Club. I'm also a runner so running inside the property was no problem and I found some cool routes. All in all, this house is great. A cell phone was provided which was a nice touch. Cyn, the property manager, was great and booked a lot of excursions for us and plugged the routes into the phone so we wouldn't get lost. I highly recommend Pura Aventura for ziplines. We also went scuba diving at Catalina Island and saw 3 bull sharks and a group of manta rays. What a great thrill. We used Aqua Rica and Billy was great to dive with but they did have to reschedule us. Small inconvenience. But if you visit Costa Rica, be aware the roads are really bad. Recommend a SUV is you rent a car."
