  • Perfect week

"A terrific week at Casa Velas. We were 3 families--7 adults, 4 kids under 12 and the house met all our needs. Having the pool and beach so accessible meant the kids were always entertained and the spaciousness of the property met the adults could relax and even work in privacy. Having the 5 bedrooms air conditioned was a godsend in a very hot week. The gentle sloping beach meant the kids could play in the water while the adults surfed. Ana the cook and housekeeper cooked us 2 great meals and kept the house free of sand. When we cooked we realized the cookware-- especially the skillets and frying pans need updating. Not having a car was not a problem. We often took the 15 minute walk to the estuary and took the boat ($1 per person) to Tamarindo. Don't try swimming it---one day we saw the 10 foot crocodile. When we made reservations at Seven for their Friday night barbecue ($10) they sent a pickup truck to pick all of us up and return us afterwards. Mariana of "You Are Costa Rica" provided us with transportation, tours, surfing lessons and even some supplies (a case of beer) as well as advice. We were also fortunate to be there when the mangoes on the property were ripe and when the Howler monkeys came to eat. A great week and we all hope to return."

  • The house, the view, the people and most of all the host

"We stayed at this villa for a week. The house is has an amazing location and the view from the terrace is stunning. The place is decorate with amazing taste which makes the stay all the more pleasant. There are friendly animals visiting in case you care for that. The office people are very friendly and accommodating and they facilitated all the requests we had. It was a pleasure dealing with them. Most of all though we were impressed with the host who gave us all kind of valuable information prior to our arrival and then she was extremely responsive to any request we had during our stay A vacation to remember for a long time One recommendation is to have a car to make moving around easier"

  • Perfect location for rest and relaxation

"The condo is in a perfect location for rest and relaxation, yet close enough for active adventures. The condo is just as pictured. The view from the condo is outstanding. To see the blue sky and hear the surf from the front window is heaven on earth. The condo is nicely appointed with all the comforts of home. Beds are very comfortable. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and Rita from the property management company greeted us and led us to the condo to give us an overview of everything. She was most helpful and readily available for any questions we may have. The information provided by Kalli was wonderful. She did not miss a thing in terms of what is provided as well as recommendations for dining and recreation. We took advantage of having groceries delivered to the condo on the day of arrival so that we could have a restful evening and enjoy breakfast items in the morning. We took long walks on the endless beach and enjoyed cocktails and appetizers at the Beach House, which is walking distance from the condo. There is a fruit and vegetable stand just as you enter the property and the pineapples were sooo sweet and delicious. We had a private chef come to the condo on two separate occasions and it was worth every penny. We also had two massage therapist (Alejandra and Karen)come to the condo for heavenly one hour massages. We were so impressed that we had them come back again. Roxanne was the name of the concierge we worked with prior to our arrival and she is the one who set up the private chefs as well as the massage therapists. What a wonderful service. I do recommend renting a car since it is a distance from areas that have more action, such as Tamarindo. Tamarindo is about 25 minutes by car. Everything else is within walking distance; the Beach House, The Shack (best Tico breakfast in town), Playa Flamingo and its beach vendors. I would not hesitate to rent this condo again. Kudos to Kalli, Rita and Roxanne for a job well done! Pura Vida!!!!"

  • Great Place

"We had a great time and loved the place. Comfertably slept 8 ppl, It was also located very close to town, everything is walking distance. The house was very modern and clean inside, didn't have to worry about any critters getting inside. There was a really cool 2 ft iguana the hung out in the back yard with us the whole trip. The house was equipped with everything, including tons of beach towels. The pool lights didn't work, but whatever, it didn't bother us to much. There is a really good traditional Costa Rican restaurant just a block away on the main strip that we all loved and recommend. It was $6 for a plate of fresh fish, beans, rice, salad, and plantains. There is two right next to each other across from witch's rock surf camp, this one is the one on the right if your looking at it from the street. Overall we had a great stay."
