  • Dreamy getaway

"This house was an absolute dream. My boyfriend and I did not experience any issues whatsoever. We met the property manager Luis with ease. He showed us the house, gave us local tips, arranged a taxi to pick us up that evening and even dropped off some amazing fresh red snapper to grill the next day. The house itself is gorgeous. The views are unbelievable. I could have spent all day relaxing in the master bedroom looking out the window at the ocean. The AC in the bedroom was a huge plus. It worked perfectly. The house has everything you need - AC (in the bedrooms), wifi, a pool, a charcoal grill and a fully equipped kitchen. The town is quiet and felt very safe. Samara is a great option for couples looking for a quiet getaway or for families looking for a safe beach with fun water activities for their children. We visited just two weeks before peak season started, so the weather was perfect (it was the end of the green season) and the town wasn't very crowded. We took a taxi to town the first night but decided it was easy enough to drive back and forth the rest of the time. Note that the house is on top of the mountain and an SUV is highly recommended to get around. Our favorite activity in Samara was kayaking out to Isla Chora to snorkel along the beach. If I had to write one negative comment, I would say that the wifi connection was poor in most of the house aside from the master bedroom...but maybe this was a sign for us to disconnect from reality for a few days!"

  • Casa Sullo Experience Top Notch

"Our stay at Casa Sullo on Lake Arenal was top notch in all areas. First, the property manager, Joannie, was an exceptional host. She not only had the property in tip top shape, but she also offered us information - everything from where to buy carne locally, to a great restaurant recommendation, to the local Catholic church services. The property was perfect for two couples sharing a vacation. We spent much time on the large back patio overlooking the lake and a huge backyard. The landscaping around the house was beautiful and very well maintained. We saw monkeys, Tucans, and many bird species, which was mentioned in the property description and came true before our eyes. The house was well supplied upon arrival with basics to begin our vacation. Also, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils - everything was thought of from our point of view. The Wi Fi and cable offered good reception and all worked well. There was a very nice grill that we used several times. The laundry facilities worked well and were much appreciated. The house was very, very clean - we did not feel we needed to wash things before using them, as we have had to do at some other properties. We would highly recommend Casa Sullo when visiting the Lake Arenal area. Oh yes, there is a lovely view of the Arenal Volcano from the front kitchen window - a treat, indeed! Again, many compliments to Joannie for being our perfect hostess. Also, the owner, Mr. Sullo, was very helpful on everything from the very beginning of our booking. Thank you Pat and Joannie for making our vacation so very special. Constance Hagen and Friends Tarpon Springs, FL"

  • A perfect vacation spot

"Our family has traveled quite a bit over the years, so when my 20 year old son summed up our time at Villa Artemis as "the best vacation ever" I knew that we had found a gem. The house is spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. The layout with 4 individual bedroom/bathrooms on two levels, a central living area/kitchen, outdoor side porch with hammocks, and pool overlooking the beach is ideal, providing just the right amount of personal space. The view of Tamarindo Beach and beyond is nothing short of spectacular, especially at sunrise and sunset. When we arrived, there was fresh fruit and coffee waiting for us and William (the rental agent) and Minor (the groundskeeper) are extremely friendly and helpful. We spent time on the beach, went to the rodeo in Villareal (a few kms away), chartered a fishing boat, and some of us took a day trip to the Rincon de la Vieja National Park (two of my three adult sons could not be torn away from the house). Not only would I recommend Villa Artemis to a friend, I already have! As others have said in their reviews, this was our first trip to Tamarindo, Costa Rica, but will certainly not be our last."

  • Modern, Comfortable Stay

"I stayed at Stef Surf for four days with my boyfriend and another couple. We had an amazing time on the property, felt very taken care of and were never bored! Francisco was so friendly, he would come to let us know whenever our taxis/shuttles/etc arrived and was available at any time. Lis gave us great advice on a catamaran trip that was the best thing we did in an 8 day trip. The property is beautifully maintained, so lush and comfortable, I spent a few hours out on the couches by the pool and read after a day of adventure. The location is great-its a short walk to the beach and an easy stroll to the beach club and a bunch of restaurants. We got great advice from Greg on live music two of the nights we were there, having him and Gladys on the property made us feel so welcome. Thank you both so much!"
