  • Second visit even better than the first!

"Returned this week from our second visit to Rancho Ramar. We loved our 7 day visit last year so much (see review below), this time we stayed 10 days! Upon arrival we found the home & the grounds in immaculate condition. Only disappointment was missing the coconut harvest. Loved that coconut milk 1st time! Pilo & Noylin helped us in anyway they could throughout our stay. We were able to converse, for the most part. If we were stumped, we communicated through Spanish/English translation apps on our phones & iPads. Worked great! Contrary to the previous reviewer(Elizabeth), Pilo was very respectful of our privacy. He works hard to keep the grounds kept. Most mornings, he was up at daylight doing his thing & was out of our way the rest of the day. If we needed something or needed his help, we could find him in the casita he & his wife stay in. The internet isn't blazing fast but so what. We could still get the info we needed & send messages. I couldn't vouch for using cell phones (sim cards etc.). Didn't use mine. We went there to get away & relax. Jose (Joe) was every bit as awesome to work with this time as last. He genuinely wants you to have a great experience. He is great about answering any questions/concerns you might have. We had all our contact both prior to & during our visit by email. Needless to say, if you are considering Rancho Ramar, DO IT! For those who have signed up or plan on it, I would offer some insights we gained about the area. 1. At Joe's recommendation, we contacted Vamos 4x4 car rental online. Awesome to work with. Upfront $ total. No b.s. & no surprises. 2. The road from Liberia to Jicaral is paved. The last 42 km to Rancho Ramar is not. No biggie. There are signs all the way to San Francisco de Coyote. Joe has instructions that help. 3. We bought groceries in Nicoya, but it's surprising how much they have at Super Rey market in S.F. We took a chance & froze steaks, hamburgers, & bacon in "seal a meal" bags and put them in the bottom of our suitcases. No problems at the airport. They were still plenty frozen after 12+ hours! 4. Zipline in Montezuma was great. $45 each & it takes you to the waterfall there. The road there has been graded & is much improved. 5. All the local restaurants are good. Loma Cara was our favorite. Rafael (owner) ordered us fresh local produce with his order. 6. Take bug spray ("no see um" bugs). Some in our group used it, however I never used it once! 7. Have fun!"

  • Cute property. Clean and quiet.

"We loved having this casita to ourselves. It was a two bedroom with plenty of living space. Kitchen was a good size. Washed and dryer next to kitchen was a nice touch. The walk to the beach was about 10-15 minutes. We wish we could have used the outdoor space more but it was too hot! Shelley and Robert were super helpful as were the the folks at Horizon Pacific who help manage the property. We would definitely recommend this to future travelers. PURA VIDA!"

  • Spacious villa with a great outdoor space and private pool

"This villa was very comfortable. We shared this villa with another small family and had plenty of room. Beds are comfortable and we had hot water for showers and wifi worked great. Very close to the airport in Liberia and only took us about 25 minutes to get there. We spent most of our time on the balcony grilling and enjoying the pool which is shaded making the water pretty cool. We found it pretty easy to use the shuttle to get to the beach area. There is a grocery store just a few minutes away from the resort that has a pretty good selection of food and drinks. playa Hermosa is beautiful and the waves were calm enough to enjoy with kiddos. I highly recommend this villa!"

  • Casa Blanca 2 - Little Oasis

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent 8 nights enjoying CB2. It was very hot when we visited (Jan. 27 - Feb. 4/17) & CB2 was our little oasis after a day's adventures. The pool and the A/C were wonderful. The kitchen was well equipped (including a brand new D/W) & we had lots of fresh linens. We rented a car and daily went on adventures (do rent a car if you can). From CB2, we were steps to the lovely beach. We explored the area beyond Tamarindo. We did several day trips to places like Palo Verde Nature Reserve & Monte Verde Cloud Forest, happily returning to CB2, to rest and recover. With the exception of the days we travelled, every evening was spent strolling the beach, enjoying the sunsets, & finding a spot for dinner. The Langosta Beach Club was excellent for lounging & dining, & it was a only a 5 minute walk away! The birding & overall wildlife in this area is spectacular, as are the lovely beaches. Thank you to the Staff at the RPM office in Langosta for all of the advice & recommendations. We were well cared for."
