  • Perfect House for a C.R. vacation

"After a year in the planning, our family vacation in Costa Rica was even more than we hoped for, and much of the credit is to the house, Ventana del Mar. The pictures on VRBO drew me in and the actual house more than lived up to the pictures. We were a family of 10, ages 8 to 80, and every one of us enjoyed the pool, slide, palapa and the always cool open air living space surrounded by trees and greenery. The bedrooms were spaced so we never felt crowded. The 5 minute walk to the beach made beach trips a daily delight, especially with the warm ocean and the boogie boards provided. And few, if any, other beachgoers. The house had everything we wanted or needed. Gerardo, the caretaker, answered all of our questions and helped us arrange outings and rides to Samara. It is a short walk to the grocery store and several restaurants so we never lacked for eating opportunities. An added plus was the quick response from Michael, the owner, to each of our numerous questions during the planning. Ventana del Mar and Costa Rica will always be a special place to our family. All 10 of us would highly reccommend it for a fantastic vacation.!"

  • Really great place

"Everything was as easy as could be. The owner was very responsive to some initial questions. Upon arrival we were met and given a tour of the house and a demo on how to operate everything. The kitchen is really nice with modern appliances and a big granite island. There is ac in the bedrooms that was nice to use, but some nights we just slept with the fan and windows open (all windows have screens and security bars). In short, it's a very nice house. The view is terrific and the property makes you feel like you're all alone, even though there are other houses around. It's very peaceful to sit on the porch and listen to the sounds. The nearest beach and town are laid back. There's more of a Tico feel than tourist feel, which was what we were looking for. One thing to note was that one night the wifi stopped working so I called the property manager on the house phone. They were very responsive and made the call to the company, set up the appointment for the repair, and waited for the technician to show up to repair. We knew this was going to be happening while we were out exploring the next day so it was not an inconvinience at all. When we returned that night the wifi was repaired and all the trash cans were emptied. I believe that this small gesture demonstrates the property managers attention to detail and true care for the renters. Sure, it's not a big deal to empty the trash cans but, hey, we were on vacation and it was one less chore to deal with! So thanks again if you're reading this."

  • Secluded, Safe and Tranquil...

"yet close to everything you could want in Costa Rica. My wife and I have been travelling to Costa Rica frequently over the past 15 years, always in Guanacaste from Tamarindo to Playa Del Coco and this was the best location yet. Close to the bustling Tamarindo beach for world-class fishing and the beachy night life, but far enough (just a few minute drive though) to feel away from it all in this Playa Grande villa. Its location is quiet, within a gated, small enclave and its own less populated, even secluded, beaches and business district (meaning a store or two for anything you'd need, good restaurants and beach/surf shops). Perfect for a romantic getaway or a family jaunt; it'll fit the bill for either. Richard is as prompt and easy to deal with as any owner you'll deal with and he/his team are wonderfully helpful with trip planning. You can rent bikes, boards or horses within walking distance and there's never much traffic - another big plus as opposed to Tamarindo, if that matters to you. We also tried the in-villa chef visit with "Ander" (ask your concierge) and it was a fabulous experience with amazing food - lobster bisque and swordfish with a bacon wrap over risotto... it rivals a higher-end, big city fine dining experience, presentation included... but cozier. Great service and when they're done, you wont see a sign they were even there!! They clean everything, put away left overs and you do nothing but enjoy the dinner - I had them deliver a local flower arrangement too - this is one time, you wont know you're in a third world country - excellent experience! The Villa is more than enough for a couple with plenty of space to spare and would be great for a family too giving everyone plenty of room to spread out and relax. The fully stocked kitchen has all the features you'd want and like all of the rooms, plenty of beautiful wood cabinetry to hide away all your stuff. Large bedrooms throughout with a beautiful master and accompanying well-sized master bath. Everything is super clean and the management service is readily available with just a phone call. Ceiling fans and cool air moving well throughout the villa after a hot day on the ocean or beach with air conditioning units in each room (important for us as we keep it pretty cool). Overall, very serene location, beautiful, secure and private villa just a short walk from pristine beach, and laid back atmosphere all over town... Pura Vida awaits you @ Richard's Playa Grande Villa."

  • Wonderful Tamarindo 'Hideaway'

"Every bit of information about this excellent 2 bedroom home was absolutely 'right on'. It was off the main street area, but just a half block from 'the action'. My wife and son and I were able to walk to many of the nice restaurants and the beaches nearby. The two bedrooms are very large and are air conditioned, which was nice in August. The large living and dining area was not air conditioned but we did not spend that much time in there. We enjoyed our morning breakfast and coffee on the wonderful pool deck. When we arrived we had some issues with the WiFi and the coffee maker did not work. We reported this to Maria, the property manager, and she promptly had technician come and fix the WiFi the same day. She also brought a brand new coffee maker for us to use that day. Very responsive to any questions and those were really the only two minor problems we had. It is very comfortable and we would definitely stay there again. Some of the restaurants we liked were Dragonfly, Bamboo, and Pizzeria La Baula. We also spent one day at the Playa Langosta Beach Club and for $10 per person we were treated like members for the day. Lounges on the beach, pool privileges, etc. Great time there in Costa Rica."
