  • Great location for Monteverde and Santa Elena. Larry and Oscar are amazing hosts!

"The location is great for exploring Monteverde and Santa Elena. Larry sat down with us for almost an hour telling us about different sights to see and places to eat. I did months of research, but he told us about some places that I'd never heard of. Wifi was great, and they'll even help you do laundry."

  • A slice of paradise Tico style

"The apartment is more spacious than the pictures give it credit. The location was everything we wanted. We basically had the whole of playa coyote to ourselves! The beach was amazing in every way e.g. animals, sunsets, shells, water, privacy. The apartment was clean, there were many beach toys and games available. The beds were very comfortable. There was ample post beach showering and rinsing off facilities. Heike and Hans were available most of the time if required and gave us lots of privacy. It felt very safe there. The sugar and coffee could have been topped up by the maid. Also, the beach towels could have been changed. A small hob could be considered but there was a toaster, small fridge, coffee perculator and all the cutlery, plates etc you need. check in and out details were a little confusing but you can always contact cafe Santos if confused. There is also a slightly more expensive studio flat next door if you are thinking of staying with friends/family."

  • Perfect! My Best VRBO Experience

"This house is amazing and it was made better by the owner and his property manager. The communication was great throughout my trip. They helped arrange trips for us and since they are local we got great treatment from the community. The pictures don't do justice to the home. This house is so beautiful and well maintained. We had 6 people there and we had more than enough room for everyone. The outdoor area is great for watching sunsets and floating around after a day of adventures. The house has the basics for cooking [the kitchen is great] and you can easily get to local grocery stores to fill your refrigerator. The property manager shopped for us before we got there so we had a full kitchen before we arrived. She asked that we send a list and she got everything on it. Such a great way to arrive since we got there later at night. They also arranged travel from Liberia and Christy [manager] arrived at the airport with our driver...and cold beer. She is sooooo great to deal with. The housekeeper, Nani, kept the house clean during our trip and was very nice as well. One thing I really liked about the owners was that there were no hidden charges. The price was as advertised and payment was simple. It was so easy and fair I almost questioned if something was up! We spent our days in Brasilito [10 min] and Tamarindo [30 minutes]. Both are easy to get to from the house. Brasilito was a very friendly town with helpful locals. Everything can be arranged out of that town. Ziplines, ATVs, jet skiing, surfing, tours, fishing, and more. Great little restaurants and bars are right by the beach. The area is completely safe and laid back. Safety was never an issue. I travel internationally a lot and Costa Rica is one of the most comfortable places I go. The locals are nice and helpful. They seem to like Americans...be nice so it stays that way! :) If I was forced to make a complaint I would be hard pressed. I guess I wish there was a sharper knife in the kitchen?! If that is the worst thing about the house...things are pretty great there! So, the house is HUGE, beautifully maintained, perfectly located, safe, and run by great people. If you are looking for a great house for you and your friends or family...stop looking...you found it."

  • Beautiful location

"Very well kept home, a nice welcome by Ed and his wife with fresh flowers in the house, bit of an issue with the ants but easy to deal with, no BBQ. Loved having coffee on the terrace and seeing the parrots and toucans and even some monkeys at a distance. Three bedrooms but the third is just a futon not very comfortable. About an 50 min drive to La Fortuna over very twisty roads and slow going, we did the La Fortuna falls( worth doing) approx 500 steps to go down but you can go in the water at the bottom, Mystica hanging bridges seen some wildlife(also worth doing), Sky Trek zip lines (very good) well organized. We also tried out the hot springs the locals used very relaxing. There is a trail nearby the house that Ed told us about that was nice to do and close by. Nice grocery store in La Fortuna. Overall a great experience. Thanks Ed for use of a phone and all your help. ."
