  • Large impressive home

"We had hoped to arrive in daylight, but our GPS wouldn't take either the name or the coordinates of the location, so we stopped at a local hotel/restaurant to call the owners. With directions, we got on the correct side road and their housekeeper, Aleida, met us at the driveway entrance. An unexpected bonus was the garage to park the car! Costa Rica being unseasonably cool in the evenings the week we were there, we immediately started the fireplace to help warm the house. Open concept living room, dining room and kitchen with entrance from garage or front door and a half bath just off the entry. There was also a closed pantry next to kitchen. Two huge bedrooms, one with a large flat screen, cable TV and queen bed and one with two queen beds. Both bedrooms had electric heaters and bathrooms with shower. The duvets and bed linens were lovely and warm. Lots of little details made the house very charming. This house would easily accommodate 6 people, except for dishes (only 4 bowls and 4 large plates). There was a large refrigerator not plugged in and a small fridge which was barely large enough for two. We ate our main meals out each day. If you are a family or 4/6 people, you would need the large fridge and a better equipped kitchen. There were no food storage articles of any kind for the kitchen. We left a only once used roll of Glad Wrap for the next guests. The house does have WiFi, which worked very slowly in the mornings, but not in the evening. A suggestion would be to have games, puzzles, dvds, books on Costa Rica, preferably all in English, for things to do in the evening. We met and truly enjoyed visiting with Guillermo on our last evening there. We mentioned how windy the mountain seemed and that our first night it had really stormed so badly we thought we were in a hurricane. Guillermo has a room over the garage and perhaps something above had been open as after I mentioned it, our last night there was perfectly quiet. We found Quinta Esencia to be a good central location from which to take day trips. We visited Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens one day; Grecia, Sarchi, San Ramon and Parque Aventuras San Luis one day; La Fortuna and Lago Arenal to take pictures of Arenal Volcano one day; Atenas and Playa Jaco one day; and Sarapiqui/Selva Verde one day. It was a full week! Mucho gracias to Marisol and Guillermo for sharing their lovely bit of paradise."

  • We felt like at home with a resort flavor!

"Thank you Lily... We had an awesome time.. Your hospitality is the best. My husband and I live in US...and all my family is in Costa Rica. We wanted to have a place that felt like home to host our Costa Rican family reunion and a big birthday party, with 65 guests. We had the blessing to find Casa Primo. We had the whole house for a weekend. Family and friends enjoyed the house. Lily and family were super helpful and accommodating with us. We felt, we were at home! We used the kitchen to gather and cook. All my siblings (7 of them) and some grand kids joined us to stay overnight. A total of 16 relatives, sharing, and catching up around the nice pool. The party was a success... The big room was perfect to accommodate chairs and tables, and have space for dancing. The bedrooms are super spacious, each with their bathroom, offering lots of privacy. The house is airy, comfortable, in a quiet secluded place! My favorite area in the house is the entrance..and the stairs, with tile decorations and the wrought iron. The kitchen is super spacious (it could used a wider counter top by the tables), and sits 16 people. I personally loved, the way windows open to allow the fresh air come in. The location is perfect. There are stores close by and good restaurants too. Very easy to get to the highway and to the airport. Parking is plenty. Lastly, it has wifi, which makes communications much easier. They say there is no place like home... and Casa Primo really made me feel at home. I will definitely come back and adopt Casa Primo as my home, and have another family reunion... and a few days of quiet time too. Blessings... and thank you again for so much help. We love your place. RV"

  • A Second Home

"Staying at this property felt like home to us. It is safely located at the end of road in a gated lot. The weather is beautiful and air conditioning is not needed in the house at all. There are fans throughout the house but your best bet is to open the screened in windows and let the beautiful, cool breeze blow through the house. The property is exactly as described and the wifi works very very well. I was pregnant and planning on delivering our daughter at CIMA which as the crow flies is close but it is a quite a drive (even for my Costa Rican husband) through San Jose. Steve, the owner, took the time to show us his favorite routes to get through the city from his house. He was very considerate throughout our entire trip and he makes sure that you have everything you need. If Steve can figure out a way to help, he will! He's just a great guy. I strongly recommend this property!"
