  • Fantastic Stay!

"Really wonderful and private place tucked up a jungle lane, would stay there again for sure. For the extra $20 per might, take the main house as the casitas are much smaller and don't have the same outlook. Basically located right in the jungle with all kinds of animals rolling through the property. Howler monkeys make their presence know every day, birds, butterflies, and everything else. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, as well as beaches, Punta Uva was our favourite for bobbing in the waves or boogie boarding. Ocean was the best temperature and the water was clean and clear. The hosts were very attentive and they have everything you need for cooking on site, thanks to Erinn and Darren for the great stay!"

  • Lovely house, convenient location

"For our family of young and older adults, this was absolutely the most perfect house and location. Restaurants, stores and beaches are within close walking distance. Punta Uva, the town of Puerto Viejo, and attractions like the Jaguar Rescue Center are within easy biking or walking distance (including the restaurant La Pecora Nera). The jungle is all around, but the property is completely secured by fencing and there's a feeling of security as well as privacy. The managers (Mao when we were there) were so helpful, before and during our visit, and always available. The saltwater pool was lovely, and we had it all to ourselves since we rented the entire house. Star-gazing from the lounge chairs by the pool at night was amazing. Every morning we walked along the dirt road through the jungle to the beach to watch the sunrise. We took flashlights to see the leaf-cutter ants doing their thing along the path. Some mornings the howler monkeys would be right up overhead, which was thrilling to hear. There were so many different birds in the area around the house, including toucans. On the beach, where the nearby creek feeds into the ocean, there was a variety of shore birds there every morning. At the house, we spent most of our time at the pool or upstairs in the open kitchen area. It was always comfortable, with a ceiling fan as well as a floor fan and plenty of seating for six, including rockers and a hammock. It was the dry season so we had no problems at all with mosquitoes. The bedrooms were air conditioned, which provided a nice break from the humidity. The bedrooms also had screened windows that could be opened if preferred to a/c. We cooked a lot of our meals and found the kitchen well-equipped. If you rent the entire house there is also an indoor kitchen downstairs, but we didn't use it at all. There's a charcoal grill by the pool that we used one night to grill some fresh fish. Plenty of towels are provided, with extras for the pool. If you rent for an entire week, someone will come mid-week to clean, bring clean towels, and even change the sheets if you want. We loved the house. Away from the crowds of Puerto Viejo, but within biking distance, close to Playa Cocles (with a lifeguard and surfboard rentals), surrounded by nature, but also in the midst of a vibrant community, it was the perfect location for our family--just what we were looking for."

  • Fantastic getaway jungle garden house

"Beautifully groomed piece of land and cabins by two friendly owners. Lovely salt pool to cool down on those very humid CR days. Would highly recommend to families, or couples or small quiet groups of friends looking for a place where you can be autonomous, with a perfect distance from more bustling village of Puerto Viejo. Carter is a musician and has a local band that plays in town. Pamela gives yoga classes. They helped us with a "lost and found at airport" baggage situation, taking calls and greeting driver. Dogs are very quiet, chase after animals that visit. 7 minute walk to the beach, 25 minute walk to town. Fast Wi-fi station inside our cabin, water just warm enough in the outdoor shower, fully functional kitchen. Litchis, limes and more in the garden. What more to say? Pura Vida ! Hope I can come back some day."

  • Wonderful little trip to paradise

"My boyfriend and I spent a wonderful week in Puerto Viejo. Lovely little house that was very well kept and had all the amenities you needed to be comfortable. All of the management staff were very quick to respond and great to deal with. It's secluded enough that you have your own little jungle oasis but quite close to Puerto Viejo, just a short bike ride away."
