  • Five nights was not enough!!!

"This is what vacations are supposed to be like. After a superb time hiking around volcanos and kayaking down gorgeous rivers through the rainforest my wife and I spent five glorious nights at Toucan Stay Inn in the Owner's Cabin. It was like having our own little home away from home. The grounds consist of beautiful tropical gardens hiding behind a secure fence and gates, and it's just a very short walk down the road to the beach. The Owner's Cabin is a large one room, combo kitchen, living room, bedroom, with a full bathroom and a large screened porch. There is plenty of hot water. After a great night's sleep in the king size bed (some nights with the A/C, some nights listening to the rain) we'd have coffee, take a long walk on the beach, come back and make breakfast, then grab the beach towels, books, etc. and head back to the beach. We picked up a couple inexpensive low to the ground beach chairs at Walmart in San Jose earlier in out trip and they were perfect for the beach. There are hammocks to use to sling between trees if you prefer. If you want a beer or a cocktail, burger, or pizza, there is a beach bar right there. Better yet wait for one of the local women to come along with hot homemade chicken or veggie empanadas. After a day of total relaxation we'd venture out to one of the many many local restaurants nearby for dinner and then back to our cabin. Night life is available if that's your scene but we prefer our solitude. After seeing many of the other accommodations in the area we could not have been happier with our choice. Mike the grounds manager will soon become a welcome friend and give good advice on local attractions and activities. A couple things we did not know but were not a problem. You have to buy your own drinking/cooking water but there is a little grocery store across the road. $5 for 5 gallons almost got us through our five nights. Also, there is no housekeeping so you can leave your bed unmade just like at home. There is not a house safe but one didn't seem necessary. The wifi worked great, there is no house computer, if you want to ride a bike you'll need to rent one nearby, and breakfast is not included. Some travel sites have not been updated with that current information. Mike informs us we would not have enjoyed his cooking anyway! Oh, the owner Jon, is always reachable by phone and is also a trove of helpful information. Although not entirely necessary since there are taxis, I would recommend a car for greatest convenien"

  • Awesome house in a perfect location!

"I stayed at Troy's house in Cahuita for two nights recently. When I arrived, I was amazed by the lush, green gardens, and the friendly welcome by Troy. He showed us the house, how things worked, and let us know he was around if we needed him. The house is really cute--very nice furnishings and decorations. Super clean! Great kitchen. I loved the room upstairs with the hammock on the balcony--perfect place to sit and look for Bruno, the resident sloth. The beach is a quick walk--about 5 minutes. It's such a long, beautiful beach, and every morning, it was just me and maybe one other person enjoying the daybreak. The house is in walking distance to quite a few restaurants and little bars, and the center of town is about 5 minutes away. It's also about 5 minutes from Cahuita National Park which is a must see when you're staying there. We snorkeled out on the reef which was awesome. I highly recommend staying at this comfy home--it has so much to offer, and Troy is a wonderful host. Looking forward to my next visit!"

  • Dream Location

"My wife and I stayed for a week and enjoyed the extremes of weather; sunny, mild and an incredible storm. The bungalow was perfect for both. When it was nice we enjoyed the best beach you can imagine right in front, I mean, just out the door, pick a spot in the shade, under the palms to read, then in for a dip, repeat!! When it stormed we walked a short way around the point where the water was calmer to swim and were able to enjoy the bungalow when the power went out because there were candles and a gas stove to make a memorable dinner. It was windy so the fans weren't missed, quite comfortable. Another reviewer mentioned the security and I agree it really is like Fort Knox. We never felt in any way like the neighborhood had anything to worry about, but it was nice to swing the big wooden door closed and not have to worry about even the remotest possibility of any hi-jinks. The other outstanding feature of the property is the property booking and management company. Caribe Sur Rentals and Green Management treated us like we were their most important guests ever and I'm sure that's the way they treat everyone. The bungalow and grounds were clean and presented more like a fine resort than a vacation rental. They are as good at what they do as you could ever expect! We are a couple in our very senior years and some might say are more picky than we used to be, but we couldn't have been happier with the way we were treated and our stay at Robinson's Beach Bungalow."

  • Wonderful Place

"We stayed at Casa Z from Sept 30th to Oct 7th. There was 4 of us (2 18 year olds) Casa Z was perfect and fit our needs perfectly. Casa Z is super close to town and surroundings so walking or renting bikes are the best options. Casa Z is clean, spacious and very safe. The owner is great and always available by email and gets right back to you if he is contacted. Check in and out is a breeze it was so nice to arrive to Casa Z and have everything expected from prior communication. This was our first time in the country so we did not know what to expect, but everything was perfect. I would not hesitate to stay at Casa Z the next time I travel to PV and highly recommend Casa Z for your stay. Thank you to Casa Z for making our stay absolutely perfect!"
