  • Comfort in Paradise!

"I had the pleasure of renting Casa Santi – a rental house tucked away in the jungle splendor of Cocles, Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica – for two and a half months. Both the owner of the property and the management company, Habitat Rentals, were on top of any issues that arose, and even checked in with me personally when there was a concern about Hurricane Otto's impact on the area. The house itself was easily accessible to the beach and the local town and shopping. A wonderful surprise was the relative lack of mosquitoes, due to the cleanliness of the grounds and that the primary living areas are on the second floor, allowing for the ocean breeze to whisk away all the annoying critters. Speaking of critters... howler monkeys, toucans, blue morpho butterflies and a plethora of other jungle wildlife were my ever-present companions in the trees and upon the grounds. What a delight! I would rent this house, and/or from Habitat Rentals, again with confidence and ease of mind."

  • Lovely vacation paradise!

"You cannot find a better spot in the Puerto Viejo area to stay at than this listing. David was a wonderful property manager and very helpful in the ways of Costa Rican life. This spot was away from the hubbub of the main town, but still within biking distance - and there is a bike shop and lovely pastry shop 2 doors down. I cannot wait to go back and see the monkeys and the sloths hanging in the trees in the backyard."

  • Paradise!!!

"I don't even know where to begin!! We had spoken to different groups of people during the first two weeks of our stay in Costa Rica and either people had never traveled to the Caribbean side or they didn't really like it....we considered cancelling our reservations and finding somewhere else to stay! All I can say is their ignorance was our blessing!!! Casa Marisa on Cocles Beach was by far the most amazing week of our 3 week vacation! Sophie was easy to deal with via email when booking our trip and her property manager Thomas is very easy going and friendly. There are two cottages on the property, Casa Marisa and Casa Caracola. We choose Casa Marisa as it is a beatiful 2 bedroom 2 bath bungalow and we thought we may have family travelling with us. It turned out that it was only the two of us and the space seemed huge but we loved it!!! Casa Marisa is set back on the property closer to the entrance gate than the beach but it is only 100 steps thru the garden to the beach gate...yes, I counted!! If I lived 100 steps from the beach every day I would think I was in Paradise!! The gardens are gorgeous, banana trees, pineapples , hibiscus and many many other plants that attract hummingbirds and the most beautiful blue butterflies...oh...did I mention the trees that surround the property where the howler monkeys live! Casa Marisa is fully equipped with everything you will need to enjoy your vacation, full kitchen, coffee maker, blender for smoothies, bar-b-que, outdoor furniture, safe, alarm and the entire property is fenced and locked. We slept with the doors open every night so that we could enjoy the sounds, the ocean, monkeys, birds and the occasional downpour. If/when we return, we will probably book Casa Caracola as it would be all the space the two of us would need and it has a beautiful view of Cocles Beach. Cocles Beach is absolutely the most beautiful beach we have ever seen! White sand and clear water that just goes on and on....the best part is that it is basically private!! The properties are also walking distance to a grocery store ( which had one of the best selections of wine that we saw in Costa Rica), a French bakery where we bought bread daily as well as yummy baked goods and a 5 star Italian Ristorante, La Pechora Nera. The drive to the Caribbean coast was also interesting, passing banana farms and feeling/seeing the difference in culture as soon as you got outside of Limon! We will be returning to this paradise!!"
