  • Home Away From Home

"This has been one of our favourite places to stay in Costa Rica. We stayed for only 7 days, and wish we could have stayed longer. Nothing compares to waking up to the sounds of the jungle. The view is absolutely breathtaking and often accompanied with monkeys and tucans - which is always a pleasure! You are right in the heart of the jungle with the comforts of a 5-star hotel and amazingly close to the beach. There are so many activities to do close by! I left feeling a wonderful sense of calm. I can't wait to come back next year!!"

  • Great house in a great area!

"We loved this house. It had plenty of room - more than we needed for the two of us. The house is separated from the beach only by a gravel road. Beach access was just across that road. There was an outdoor shower in the yard which was nice for washing off the sand. The front porch was a great place to stay out of the sun and still enjoy the sound of the waves. The kitchen was well equipped (no microwave though) and had almost everything we needed (a large bowl for salad would be a good addition). It was nice to have a great non-stick pan for cooking breakfasts. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The mosquito nets were not needed when we were there. I never once saw a mosquito but there were little no-see-ums just at sunset that bothered me a little (but nothing more than a minor annoyance). On our first day the water pump for the hot water quit working and the owners were there immediately to get it fixed. On the second day, I locked myself out. The owner's mother lives next door and she was very kind to let me back in. The house does have a security system. The gates on the yard both lock as well so we felt very secure. You can walk into the town on the beach but it would be 30-45 mins or so. It is a 5 minute drive. There were lots of good restaurants - we really liked Lazlo's Catch of the Day. The gaucamole and ceviche at the Point (just 10 mins walk down the beach) was great. The beach BBQ on Sunday at Hotel Banana Azul (5 mins walk away) was also great. We highly recommend this property."

  • Great and relaxing experience

"We had a lovely stay of 10 days in Vila Laurel. The house is very spacious and perfect for a family, especially the master bedroom is and the huge terrass were amazing. Nadja and Julius are great hosts and they made us feel welcome and comfortable during the whole stay. Nadja also has a lot of experience from the tourism sector making her a great source of knowledge for what to do (and even more important, what to not do) when visiting Costa Rica. If we get the chance to return to Puerto Viejo and Cocles, we would not hesitate staying with them again."
