  • comfortable house, nice pool, nice host!

"My family stayed for 3 nights & we made ourselves right at home. It's a nice, large house with a great pool, & not far to walk to food & the beach. We also enjoyed the company of Lucky the dog, who watched over us & the property! Doris is a very nice lady & made us feel very welcome."

  • Relaxing and Peaceful

"The house was very clean and well maintained. The nights were comfortable sleeping under the netting and listening to the rain. It rained most nights during our stay and was sunny most day. The area surrounding the house was very peaceful and private. We enjoyed listening to the abundant wildlife in the rain-forest, howler monkeys and all kinds of birds. After spending the day sightseeing and touring the local area, it was so nice to come back to the spacious house to relax and get ready for the next day's adventure. Stephanie and Johanna were a great help in getting us checked into the house, even though we were a little late arriving due to the holiday traffic. They even helped with arranging a rafting trip on the Pacuare river where we were picked up at a nearby hotel. We rented a 4X4 and had no trouble at all getting up the hill. We loved staying at the Canopy House."

  • Villa Noor

"Our overall experience here was great. We loved the surrounding jungle, the almost private beach, and the location. We saw 10-12 Howler Monkeys where the beach path opens to the beach, which was really cool. The cable TV is 90% spanish programming (we don't speak spanish) and the wireless is a little slow, but was reliable during our stay. We also had a few run ins with bugs the first night."

  • Five nights was not enough!!!

"This is what vacations are supposed to be like. After a superb time hiking around volcanos and kayaking down gorgeous rivers through the rainforest my wife and I spent five glorious nights at Toucan Stay Inn in the Owner's Cabin. It was like having our own little home away from home. The grounds consist of beautiful tropical gardens hiding behind a secure fence and gates, and it's just a very short walk down the road to the beach. The Owner's Cabin is a large one room, combo kitchen, living room, bedroom, with a full bathroom and a large screened porch. There is plenty of hot water. After a great night's sleep in the king size bed (some nights with the A/C, some nights listening to the rain) we'd have coffee, take a long walk on the beach, come back and make breakfast, then grab the beach towels, books, etc. and head back to the beach. We picked up a couple inexpensive low to the ground beach chairs at Walmart in San Jose earlier in out trip and they were perfect for the beach. There are hammocks to use to sling between trees if you prefer. If you want a beer or a cocktail, burger, or pizza, there is a beach bar right there. Better yet wait for one of the local women to come along with hot homemade chicken or veggie empanadas. After a day of total relaxation we'd venture out to one of the many many local restaurants nearby for dinner and then back to our cabin. Night life is available if that's your scene but we prefer our solitude. After seeing many of the other accommodations in the area we could not have been happier with our choice. Mike the grounds manager will soon become a welcome friend and give good advice on local attractions and activities. A couple things we did not know but were not a problem. You have to buy your own drinking/cooking water but there is a little grocery store across the road. $5 for 5 gallons almost got us through our five nights. Also, there is no housekeeping so you can leave your bed unmade just like at home. There is not a house safe but one didn't seem necessary. The wifi worked great, there is no house computer, if you want to ride a bike you'll need to rent one nearby, and breakfast is not included. Some travel sites have not been updated with that current information. Mike informs us we would not have enjoyed his cooking anyway! Oh, the owner Jon, is always reachable by phone and is also a trove of helpful information. Although not entirely necessary since there are taxis, I would recommend a car for greatest convenien"
