  • Nine days in Paradise at Dos Iguanas Guest House

"The Guest House at Dos Iguanas is in a perfect Cabuya location with plenty of privacy and within easy walking distance to shopping for all of the essentials, as well as near several restaurants. The house was exactly as advertised, with a well-stocked kitchen, a nice bathroom, a spacious bedroom and sitting room upstairs, and a pleasant outdoor dining space. We spent much time relaxing in the hammock, and we loved being high up in the trees and sharing the place with our frequent iguana, monkey, and bird friends. It was wonderful to be able to open the many sliding windows, but we also appreciated the screening and the fan upstairs. My cousin and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there as a base for our adventures in and around Cabuya, including swimming right out front at high tide, a hike in Cabo Blanco Reserve, a walk to and swim at Cemetery Island, an early morning walk to the river to see many birds, and several bus rides to Montezuma for some lazy days at Playa Grande. Although we were sad to leave, we are sure there will be many others who will have the pleasure of staying at this unique and beautiful gem, and that perhaps we will return again someday. Thank you, Sean, for sharing your special place with us."

  • Beautiful Spacious House in Calm Location

"Michelle and Danielle are the owners of a beautiful, spacious house far off the dusty, beaten roads of Santa Teresa. It takes about 20min by car over bumpy roads to reach Santa Teresa, Montezuma or Cobano (the closest shopping opportunity). The house has a beautiful pool, lush green gardens which attract all sorts of birds, leguans and howlers and is generally really well equipped and tastefully decorated. In retrospective we were really glad about the remote location instead of the dusty dusty roads of Santa Teresa (aaaargh terrible!!). The beaches are nice and perfect for day trips or dinner at beautiful Montezuma but the road through Santa Teresa is really insane. We did not understand the hype of that village. We loved the house. The only suggestion for improvement we have is to schedule the cleaning better. Within the seven days we stayed we saw Michelle and Danielle four times and the cleaning lady twice. That felt a little strange. Also Michelle and Danielle only speak French which I don't but luckily my mom does, so be prepared for that :-) But they are really nice. We had a great time in a great place!"

  • Pura Vida Perfection!

"This is a truly amazing property in a location that allows you to experience the real Costa Rica. First of all, the property is gorgeous; jungle and beach all in one. Look up and you'll see the capuchin monkeys swinging through the trees, a multitude of birds, and incredible greenery. At the same time, the beach is at your back door. Our family of 4 (daughters ages 12 and 14 spent hardly any time with their phones, although there is wifi) spent a week here in December. The sleeping space is upstairs with 3 beds in an open area, with a separate bedroom for the grown ups. I will never forget laying in bed and watching the sun come up over the ocean...yes you can do this-or roll over and gaze out into the jungle. It's easy to cook here, there is a stove top and full sized fridge so you don't have to eat out every night. But, there are some great restaurants in the area too. Cafe Coyote, 5 minutes down the road in Cabuya is amazing. Lots of choices...fresh fish and really good pizza were our faves. Jenny, the owner, can help you arrange any kind of activity and gives great advice and tips; she truly is a great friend to anyone visiting-and is very patient with anyone who wants to try out their Spanish. Cafe Nimbu is another great restaurant. Fish cakes are a must try. Any supplies you need can be found just down the road. Tons to do nearby. Safe beach. Need I say more. Loved it. Not a party town, ideal for families or anyone who wants to connect with nature and get to know some of the unspoiled places and fantastic people in Costa Rica."

  • Beautiful Property

"This is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay in Cabuya. It's right next to the national park and is an animal lovers paradise. We were able to see so many different kinds of birds and the monkeys came through once a day! The yoga there is lovely as well. Jessica is a great teacher and the yoga deck is gorgeous! They are just starting an animal sanctuary which was wonderful to see the beginning stages of. I would definitely recommend staying here and can't wait to go back to see it finished! Thanks for a great stay"
