  • Exceptional stay!

"The communication with Gavin from start was very good. Few days/week before the arrival date Gavin emailed us directions. Although the photos are good, the house actually looks better in life. The views from both floors are stunning. The whole house is decorated in very relaxing color. The quality of finish is also very good. The villa is fully equipped also incl. washing machine and tumble drying. The whole house is fully air-conditioned. We haven’t seen any insects, flies or mosquitoes inside the house. As long as you keep the balcony doors closed at dark there will be no flying insects inside the house. No mosquito mesh above bed was needed and no bites experienced. The site is covered by security guard from 6am to 6pm, the security was very helpful and spoken fair English. The villa is located in estate with a number of similar villas. The villa is spacious, also the internet connection is good. Private parking next to villa. So summarizing about the house – it was actually perfect, it really was. Getting to the villa from San Jose is via highway and standard car could be sufficient enough. I would say that you don’t need 4x4 car, it may be useful on the internal steep hill of the estate where the villa is located. The villa is located in a close distance from the highway. We were worried that it may be loud at night, but there is almost no traffic at night, so perfectly fine. General safety in the area. Each day we were leaving the beach 30min after sunset, coming back/walking back to the villa at dark–looking at nearby football pitch with thousands of fireflies. We did shopping at Dominical at 8pm few times and no problems. We felt very safe in Dominical area anyway. The nearby beach is almost empty – during the day you can hide under the shade of trees overhanging above the beach-this means that we staid on the beach for almost all day without sunburns. The water in Ocean was the warmest I’ve ever experienced. There are lots of coconuts that you can just pick, peal and drink from. The beach is sandy with occasional rocks that you need to look for under water. We visited local Osa Canopy & Tour Dolphin watching from local tour operator – Bahia Aventuras – both very good. Overall I wish we could stay longer. If we go back to CR, we would love to stay again at this villa in Dominical, so hopefully it will be still available."

  • Wonderful house and garden!

"When we booked Casa Pura Vida we really liked what we saw on the photos and we were not a bit disappointed when arriving; the property is just wonderful! The house is really charming and walking around in the garden is amazing with all beautiful plants , trees and flowers and hearing and seeing all insects, birds and even monkeys is just fantastic. We were 6 persons staying one week and it was really comfortable as we also rented the little charming extra house. The location of the property is great with just a few minutes to Playa Dominical or Playa Uvita by car. Neil and his staff at "" are very professional, nice and helpful so we really felt that we were well taken care of during our stay."

  • Super fun

"Gorgeous grounds, away from everything, and so much character. We loved it here. Also, having our first breakfast groceries taken care of, umbrellas, a bag of charcoal, and a full box of dry wood for the fire pit were very nice touches. Don't miss Nauyaca waterfalls nearby! They're truly truly amazing. Before booking , you MUST know this is not going to be a luxury resort experience. There are no glass windows, only wooden panels that completely open, you pretty much live outside, in the heart of the jungle. One of the casitas has no walls at all, you're sleeping outside, with a roof over your head. It's very fun and romantic, but just to give you a sense of what it;s like, the swimming pool 8 feet away is the night home of 6 to 10 green frogs, 1 huge toad, and the cutest little baby boa (about 18 inches long). You can find them in and around the pool most nights. We found the boa chilling on the outdoor shower floor one evening. So if this doesn't sound like a fun adventure to you, you will not be happy here. A couple little things you might also know beforehand: - The beach is about 25 - 30 minutes from the house by car. - You MUST have a 4x4 to get through the 2km of rocky paths of the main road. - Wifi is slow. It works, but if you need to get work done, I found my cell phone 3G connection to be faster, so plan accordingly. - It's very difficult to get anything to dry because of humidity. One towel per guest was provided, but I wish we had a few more. - We discovered that what looked like a bookshelf between 2 doors in the main house was actually a ladder to a loft with 2 twin mattresses. Maria hadn't show that to us, or maybe I just misunderstood since I don't speak Spanish, but this was very useful since we only had one couple in our group of 6. I would definitely come back. Amazing jungle home."

  • We absolutely loved our stay!

"This location is stunning, better than the photos! We extended our stay because we didn't want to leave! It was priority to be back on the deck for the amazing sunsets, soft cooling breezes and a dip in the plunge pool! Monkeys, toucans, iguanas abound! A 4 wheel drive is a must! Dave West helped us with a great local company!"
