  • Perfect Hideaway

"This place is ideally situated: out of the fray of Santa Teresa but close to all and with a stunning view of the ocean. You often almost don't want to leave the house if it weren't for the beckoning expanse of gorgeous blue water. Yes you need to have a 4x4 vehicle but you will want one regardless to explore beyond the immediate area. The house itself is extremely well maintained and well appointed and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Sheryl the property manager was very attentive and always available when we had questions or needed tips about the area. The house is on the smaller side and great for a couple who wants a little more room but could comfortably sleep a family or small group with its design; I wouldn't recommend it for those with small children as the central staircase is open and only has a railing on one side. Bottom line: I can't recommend this place highly enough and will miss it after we leave. One tip: skip the neighboring hotel for a sunset cocktail as it is over run with spring breaker tourists. Instead hit one of the places on the beach e.g. Caracolas right down the hill which has amazing margaritas."

  • Amazing...did I mention how Amazing?

"First let me state that I have used many rentals through some sort of Rental by owner website and Daniel is by the far the most helpful, patient and kind owner we have rented from thus far. Though we were not able to meet him (booo, I wanted to thank him in person) he is a fantastic host. Thank you for everything. Now to the Villa, the pictures do not do this place justice. We rented this home to be the location for our 10-year wedding anniversary/vow renewal ceremony and I'm so glad I didn't go with a modern/Hollywood style beach home. This is pure Costa Rican Art/Architecture. We are spending 7 days here (yes still here) and our group( 5 adults) is simply amazed by this home. The pictures cannot show how large and beautiful each bedroom is, the staircase leading to each bedroom is something you would see out of a movie. Each bedroom has a private bath and shower, plus there is one on the lower level by the outdoor shower for when you are spending time by the pool or cooking in the kitchen. I am an avid cook and the kitchen was amazing. I was very impressed with the high quality cuisinart pots and pans with a layer of copper heat distribution. This is a major plus for those who love to cook. The views are amazing from all angles. You fall asleep to the sounds of various birds and awake to the howler monkeys in the distance. You will be visited by iguanas, bats, and insects but don't be discouraged..It's all part of being surrounded by jungle. Please be diligent with the compost bucket and garbage can. His property is beautiful with amazing tropical plants plus a greenhouse and the compost is needed. The hill to the house is beyond steep but we rented ATVs from Pacific Dirt Roads and had no problems going up the driveway in 2nd or 3rd gear. Lola and Carlos are wonderful staff and you will be truly amazed by this home, host, staff, the residential dogs who would followed me everywhere (Ray) especially, and the views. Please book..You will not be disappointed. One last thing, if you are worried about no AC, don't..being on a hill, with massive windows and the fans will keep you cool all night and sleep like a baby. Thank you again Daniel for everything, you and your home are both truly amazing. Pura Vida!!!"

  • Oasis in the Jungle

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Malpais... everyday was packed a with a new adventure and activity---each better than the last, but the best thing was coming home to Casa de Noni and its wide open layout and saltwater pool. The walls practically go away and the whole house is open and to the clean, sweet Costa Rican air. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking on site, the bedrooms all have AC except the loft which made for great nights sleep and the deck and patio gave a number of outdoor seating options. We explored the area by 4 WD vehicle (definitely recommend) and a couple of ATVs. There are plenty of restaurants, beaches and shops within 2 miles of the house so you don't have to venture far to fill your day. Ruth, who lives in a cottage on the property, was a great host and concierge both before and during our stay. Malpais is a dusty, working village with terrifically friendly residents. This is not for everyone... it is not a resort, but maybe the best place I have ever been."

  • Our stay was always amazing!

"This was our second visit and stayed the same place. This time we rented the house for the whole month of August. Davie and his wife always there when you needed them. We are looking to go back next year again. Thank you Mike!"
