  • Wonderful Stay

"Our family of six had an incredible time staying here at Villa Manuel Antonio! Let me first say that while searching, I messaged the owner, Laurent, and asked him about public transportation availability and ease as one of my sons is on crutches. Laurent called me to let me know that the transportation was fine, but that there were stairs to our floor since we were looking at the lowest level with a small yard for my children to run around in and search for lizards. He was concerned that my son would not be able to do the stairs and wanted to let me know before I booked the villa. He sent me pictures that he took of the stairs and we decided my son would be fine and continued with our booking. It was nice to see that Laurent's concern was for our comfort and enjoyment, even at the risk of us looking elsewhere if we felt our son would have difficulty on the stairs. So, back to the review... Our villa was located on the lowest level with a small yard and a view of the Pacific and the national park. The two bedrooms have king beds and there is a fold out couch in the living room. The bathrooms are large and the villa is a great place to stay. The kitchen comes with all the hardware for preparing meals yourself. The pool also has a nice view and our kids enjoyed swimming in it. During the morning it is in the sunshine, but after lunch it begins to get some shade to offer respite from the heat of the day. Our kids enjoyed the pool everyday. We also saw monkeys, a sloth, numerous birds and some colorful lizards while at the villa. The location is phenomenal. Perched on a hilltop but only steps to the bus that runs to beaches and the park in one direction, and Quepos in the other. There is no need to rent a car, just take the bus. Taxis were also easy to hail. There are also restaurants nearby (try the Falafel Bar), as well as a Bank of Costa Rica, Economy Car Rental and a small convenience store. There was not a lot of walking to these places so it was perfect for our son. It really is an ideal location for getting to wherever you need to go. As for Laurent, he stays on the property which is such a big help for finding whatever you need. He arranges tours and transportation to San Jose or wherever. He can point you in the right direction for food, groceries or any other needs. He is very friendly and a delight to talk with. It was our pleasure to meet him. We highly recommend booking your stay with Villa Manuel Antonio. You won't regret it!"

  • Perfection!!!

"My wife and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary trip at Casa Sandra for eight glorious days, and we couldn't have asked for a better "home" or a better location! From the day we arrived until the day we left, we loved every inch of this property. Since 4-6 could stay here very comfortably, the 2 of us had more than enough space. And a balcony on each floor---facing" the "Jungle" or the Pacific Ocean---is it even necessary to choose an adjective on how great that is?!! Casa Sandra is located in the heart of Manuel Antonio, a couple miles from the town of Quepos, and a couple miles from the famous and popular Manuel Antonio Park. It's within walking distance of grocery stores and many nice restaurants (go to Victoria's and ask for Oscar, trust me). The home is very clean--and there is maid service and laundry service. We always felt safe, including walking at night. And speaking of safe, there's one in the home so one can lock their passports and valuables. We saw monkeys almost daily, and many interesting birds. And the sunsets alone are worth renting this home---better than we saw anywhere else all week. The folks we communicated with before and during our stay here were wonderful--patient, kind, helpful, and easy to get ahold of. We sent many emails beforehand, and a couple calls to ask about things during our stay--and always received a quick response. We wanted to be busy almost every morning, so we told Thomas and Angie what we were interested in, and they set up everything---inhouse massage (excellent), Manuel Antonio Park tour (take a guide---very well worth it, very necessary, and Henry is great!), a Sunset Sail (5 hours of FUN), a Mangrove Tour (educational--and more monkeys!), a Villa Vanilla Spice Tour (again, educational and very interesting), ZipLine (first time for us, and it was incredible!). That including us getting picked up and dropped off at our door for all of these as well! We originally thought we would rent a car all week, but decided to get the van ride from the airport in San Jose to Casa Sandra instead. It was a good decision. Easy to walk almost everywhere, and easy to jump on and off a bus just down the road, which we did often. We did rent a car for 2 days (yes, again, all we had to do was ask the team of Thomas/Angie to take care of this---and they did, dropped off and picked up at our front door!!). We can't say enough about how pleased we were with our accomodations, and the A+/excellent service we received."

  • Very beautiful. Wish I could give it a 4.5.

"Our family of 3 just returned from 4 nights at this beautiful condo and I will start by saying we will rent it again in a heartbeat. It was wonderful but it came with a couple of negatives, (mostly worth mentioning because at almost $400/night, I feel like I need to mention them). The location is perfection. Within walking distance to a beautiful beach, 10 minutes to downtown MA, 10 minutes to Quepos. We've been visiting MA for 10 years and love this location. The view from the condo was amazing. The condo was so large, well appointed and better than the pictures. We didn't need a single thing. The pool was wonderful, the restaurant food was good and it was nice to have that restaurant on site. The staff was very friendly. We even had a monkey visit at breakfast to steal our sugar off the table in the restaurant. So fun. Willy was nice. He was very quiet and did his job by basically just dropping off the keys to us and showing us around very quickly. He requested we come early to check in because he had something to do in the afternoon. That was fine with us! The AC in the main living room broke within 3 hours of our arrival. It was heavily dripping water all over. I had texted Willy to alert him. He responded and said he would be there at 4:30pm. At 5:40 he hadn't arrived so I just text him a picture so he could see it soaked through 2 towels and asked him what to do. He then came over and turned off the unit, said someone would come the next day while we were out. That never happened but he called and said someone would be there the next day after. We declined because we wanted to relax in the condo without workers there. The ACs in the master and 2nd bedroom were also not working but we're not leaking. They just blew warm air. Thankfully, it never got to the point where it felt very hot and we were fine but I felt like I was bothering the property manager by bringing it to his attention. The relationship between the hotel and these condos seems odd. The hotel guests get breakfast included in their (cheaper) rate but it's $12 per person for the condo renters which is odd to me. The food was overpriced in general but that seems to be common now in MA. The hotel spa was an awful experience and I don't recommend the services there. I cannot fault the condo owner for this of course but if you plan to have a spa day, check out another spa. Thankful to have found this place but just had a couple bumps!"

  • Delightful

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. A lovely way to see an amazing country. Staff were great, accommodations in good condition. Private beach was a real treat. Wildlife everywhere, great views, and in a nice area. Would recommend the rain forest tour with guide for anyone who wants to see the wildlife - you can do it by yourself but you're going to miss 90% of what's lurking right in front of you. Resort has enough recognizable food to keep middle-school children from starving, but plenty of great native food in the immediate vicinity also. We felt pampered and relaxed the whole time."
