  • Our Shangri-La

"A family group of five adults, we were thrilled with our week-long Villa La Vista experience. The Villa is beautiful, and we so enjoyed hearing the comforting sounds of the ocean surf at all times of day. We happily spread out into the three spacious bedrooms (one in a separate apartment), each with its private ocean-view patio, and air-conditioning. We gathered in the main living area to enjoy the comfy chairs and sofa for reading and wifi time, or we moved on to the ocean-view patio, which everyone sought out from dawn ‘til dusk. That’s where we watched a sloth hanging out for twenty-four hours on a nearby tree; and that’s where the squirrel and white-faced monkeys visited us. Squirrel monkeys are not to be missed—they play like kittens! The kitchen was convenient and well-equipped, although we mainly prepared breakfast and lunch, as eating out was fun at the many nearby restaurants which we could easily walk to. With vegetarians in our group, we loved Café Milagro, which turned into one of our favorite spots for an occasional breakfast as well as dinner. Fred’s provided a fabulous view of the spectacular sunsets. The Villa, which is located on a dirt road, is very quiet and private—so private that it was possible to skinny dip in our own “plunge pool.” The pool is beautifully surrounded by flowering plants such as the magnificent hanging “lobster claw,” and it was our go-to spot for a fast refresher whenever we got too warm, for instance when we had made the walk back up the hill after a swim in the ocean. The ocean is just ten minutes down the road from the Villa; we couldn’t believe what felt like our own private white sand beach, with excellent surf! We were also thrilled to find trees lining the beach, so that we didn’t have to stay in the sun. Getting set up to stay at the Villa was made very easy by its owner, Nancy, who provided fast feedback and excellent information—everything one could want. The concierge, Geralyn, couldn’t have been more helpful, before and during our visit, from setting up tours to providing a birthday cake to calling cabs when our Spanish was insufficient. We were also grateful for the excellent attentions of the housekeeper, Lidette, and the groundskeeper, Chino. It was so very nice not to have to do laundry (unless we preferred to do it ourselves) and occasionally to have fresh sheets. Our only complaint? We should have stayed longer - and we will next year!"

  • An excellent adventure

"Our group ranged in age from 20's through "up there" and this was a perfect house for all of us. The pre-trip assistance from Vanessa was extremely helpful and made trip planning much easier (and exciting!) . The house has four wonderful suites so each group had their own space with wonderful views from all rooms. The common areas were comfortable and the infinity pool was inviting throughout the day. We cooked meals without difficulty in the equipped kitchen. Hot/cold water cooler provided, as well as basic spices and kitchen needs. Vanessa made herself available to us throughout the week and helped with shopping and trip planning. It was very easy to get cab service from the house, and there are great activities (beaches, surfing , bars, dining, national forest) within 5-10 minute drive from the house. We enjoyed lounging on the patios and taking in the beautiful views from the house. An excellent house for an excellent adventure."

  • Luxury Condo in Manuel Antonio

"We stayed in Tom's Shana Condo #310 the first week of June. Upon opening the front door on the evening of our arrival we knew it was going to be a special trip. The condo is nicer than portrayed in the pictures and very clean. The dual master layout is ideal for families or a couples vacation offering privacy and a comfortable place to retreat. We were very happy to find the condo fully equipped with anything you might need during your stay - even had umbrellas sitting at the ready by the front door. The furnishings are quality items and clean. Beds and linens were very comfortable. The concierge Vanessa was incredibly helpful all the weeks leading up to the trip and during our stay. All her recommendations were spot on and she was able to secure reservations for popular tourist attractions the same day. Vanessa stopped by on our first day and filled our counter with fresh fruits which we converted into smoothies the following mornings. We had a minor technical issue on day 3 and Vanessa got it resolved the same day while we were out. The views from the condo and deck are outstanding and since we were not in high season very private. Our favorite times to be on the deck were the evenings as the rain and thunderstorms rolled in. Nature at it's finest! The location is excellent and within a few minutes drive to many outstanding restaurants and sights. The property sits on a steep hillside so if you're walking be sure to bring good footwear. Restaurants we highly recommend (that Vanessa clued us into) that are casual and reasonably priced. Barba Roja - great ceviche and my kids say the burgers are very good. Ronny´s Place - on the top of a hill on a gravel road. Wide open (no walls) with great views. Very good food and friendly staff! Raphael´s Terrazas - one of our best meals of the trip! El Avión - very fun atmosphere and outstanding views. The food is good but not memorable. Emilio´s Cafe -- on the same street as the condo. Best coffee (iced) we ever had. Food is beyond good. We took a vote and decided to eat there again for dinner on our last night in M.A. Thanks again Vanessa and Tom. We hope to visit you again in the coming years!"

  • Beautiful Spacious Condo, Stunning View, Wonderful Concierge

"We spent three beautiful nights here in June 2016. Wish it had been more time, but we were exploring a few different areas. The condo is spacious with large closets and bathrooms, three balconies, and a well equipped kitchen. It would have been perfect to cook in if we had wanted to, but we were enjoying the delicious restaurants. There is also a washer and dryer which could come in handy for a longer trip. Alex is wonderful at arranging activities and was an angel to help me out so much when I became very ill one day. (Maybe sea sick from the fishing.) So glad my brother told me where he had stayed so we could keep this gem of a location in the family!!"
