  • 5 Star Resort, 4 Star House

"This was our third time in this town, but first time at this resort. There was friendly staff throughout the property, beautiful gardens, walking trails, pools, shuttle service, restaurants with excellent food, but the BEST part was the private beach and bar nearby. It is an amazing house and we enjoyed our time here. We arranged with Green Coast to have groceries waiting for us upon arrival, which added a nice touch to their service. There were two disappointing features of the house that I feel I need to note here. The first and most important was the view. The 9th picture on this listing shows an amazing unobstructed view of the ocean and hills below the casa, with the caption, "view of the Pacific". Unfortunately, this is NOT the view that you get from the balcony this house, as there is now a very large palm tree that is blocking much of the center of the view. There are now only ocean views from the sides of the balcony, when you look to the right and left of the giant palm tree. I was very disappointed to see the tree, as I had chosen this house mainly because of the view that is advertised in the ad. I hope that they take a new updated photos of their "view", because I feel that the current ad is quite misleading. The second issue that we encountered was that the two toilets downstairs that are attached to the bedrooms are located outside on the balcony, along with the showers. We liked that the showers are outside, but in the middle of the night, none of us wanted to use a toilet outside as there were bats hanging from the ceiling above. This meant that we had to walk up the stairs to the main floor in the middle of the night to use the first floor's toilet. On the second morning we started finding large piles of bat feces in our showers that we would then have to step around. The last day, when the maid service came, we assumed she would clean up the shower area, but the piles were still there after she left. By then it was too late to call for cleanup. Overall, we had a fantastic trip to CR and really enjoyed the location. The house was almost perfect for us. I do not think we will stay at this house again in the future, but will consider other houses nearby."

  • Amazing views, spectacular condo!

"This is an amazing property. The first thing to mention is the stunning ocean views from the family room and each of the three bedrooms. The location will never disappoint. The condo was well equipped and the owners Kerwin and Lisa were very responsive when setting up the reservations and answered all questions. There is a local manager Willy who will help with arranging any tours you want to enjoy, such as fishing etc. We caught fish one day (4 Spanish Mackerel) and brought it to a local restaurant (La Luna) for their preparation. They made ceviche with it and also grilled the rest. It was the best meal we had there. Just amazing and La Luna has a great location with views. There was plenty of fish left which we prepared in the condo for tacos the next evening. We had a party of eight and the condo was plenty big for us all. The only problem we had was water pressure at times, but whenever we reported it, it was fixed after a few minutes. I would easily stay here again as it is one of the most beautiful locations for a hotel I ever stayed at. Oh and concerning wildlife, we saw a couple monkeys and sloths near the hotel and during our 5 minute walk downhill to the local beach. It was a great little beach, but the water wasn't too clear for snorkeling, although I saw some fish near the rocks, but as mentioned clarity is lacking there. Take a trip 30 mins south to Dominical and head inland to the Nauyaca waterfalls. You can hike in or take horseback. It is worth it. Horseback ride is only $70 US per person and includes a breakfast and lunch midway in both directions. Horses were very nice and well kept. We didn't see too much wildlife on that trip, but if you head into Manuel Antonio State Park, you will see plenty there. We saw 3 monkey types, a coati, iquanas, peccary, vine snake and pesky raccoons that will snatch your food from your bags right next to you. This time of year (with locals on vacation too) the park is very busy and be prepared to be around some crowds. This place will not disappoint! Last comment, the restaurant at the hotel is good, but is a bit pricey. Better options are out and about nearby concerning pricing."

  • Beautiful condo... wonderful experience!

"My friends and I (all in our 60s) stayed at Shana #310 for a week in November. We had a fantastic time! The condo was beautiful and had everything we needed. Vanessa, our concierge, was helpful and was available for all of our questions and needs. She was very knowledgable about the best tours and set us up with friends of hers that do the Manuel Antonio park tour and the Rainmakers Canopy tour which we highly recommend. The pool was beautiful and very relaxing, and the nearby restaurant was convenient for breakfast, snacks, or dinner. We took taxis which only cost us $10 total per trip, and they took us everywhere in and around Manuel Antonio. We especially loved the capuchin and squirrel monkeys that visited us twice a day and the toucans that were in a tree by the pool. The only drawback was the beach wasn't as easily accessible as we expected, but it wasn't a problem because we enjoyed the pool so much, and we could see the ocean from our condo balconies. We would come back in a heartbeat and would recommend the condo to anyone. Costa Rica is a beautiful country, and the people were exceptionally friendly and helpful."

  • Can't wait to return!

"What a FANTASTIC property! We stayed in Tulemar Bungalows.... You really feel like you're in a tree house in an isolated jungle. Wish we stayed longer. From the moment you drive onto the property you are transported into a dream. And yet, just outside the gates are all the great local restaurants and services you need. The staff is amazing.... Everyone was so kind and genuine. From the restaurant staff to the outstanding service at the PRIVATE beach to the shuttle driver and staff. They made our entire trip a true pleasure. The highlight of our stay was the Sloth Walk with Tom. He is an amazing guide who has a great personality. We saw 9 sloths, mating howler monkeys, and countless birds. We saw more wildlife on the property than in the park. In fact, there's little reason to leave with the A+ beach on site. We did enjoy the great views at the restaurant for breakfast also. So, JUST BOOK IT! You won't be sorry."
