  • Beautiful Honeymoon

"We could not have asked for a better honeymoon! The grounds are spacious and gorgeous with nature all around you. Wonderful views all the way to the ocean. (I have many videos of the plant and animal life in the yard) The neighbors are so far away, you feel as though you are on your own island! It was very private. In the early morning and evening, the toucans would come out and call to one another in the trees on the property. The house even provided a telescope to see into the rainforest which surrounds the house. We came during the rainy season and it did rain some, but it was so warm out that it was fun to go swimming. The house provides so much: a pool table, bbq, outdoor shower, 2 hammocks, pool lounges, workout equipment, a ping pong table, A/C, an indoor spa tub, a juicer, a t.v., telescope, an on site nature trail, 24 hour security with Juan and Raul and a wonderful, personal host, Jose, who helps you do anything you'd like to do! He can recommend and set up a catamaran adventure, zip line, a nature walk with a waterfall and pools to swim in, massages, facials, restaurants, nightlife and the list goes on and on! His knowledge of the people and culture were of such value to us. Even getting to the grocery store! There are a couple restaurants that became our go-to for an impromptu night out. And if we wanted to eat in, we popped round to the local grocery store and stocked up on goodies for the fridge. Quepos and Manuel Antonio were about a 20minute drive away. When we were craving a pizza, we went in to town for a great pie! Everything you could want was so close and almost everyone speaks English. (Although when we go back I hope to be much more fluent in Spanish) We definitely plan on coming back with friends and family. This was more than we hoped for!"

  • Tulemar Bungalows perfect Costa Rican experience!

"My family visited Costa Rica for the first time in August 2016. We booked Tulemar Bungalows based in all the positive online reviews. We could not have been happier with our choice. From the very beginning, Julie at Green Coast Rentals was so helpful with answers about the property, activities in area and amenities. Frank, our concierge, arranged a car for us upon our arrival at the airport and met us at the property to show us our room and answer any questions. It is about a 3 hour drive from San Jose airport but our driver made it go by fast by pointing out sights, telling us about the area, giving us tips on what to do and see and even stopping to let the kids see the giant crocodiles at Rio Tarcoles. We had bungalow #111 and it was absolutely amazing. It was spacious, clean, private and the views out the windows were unreal......it really did feel like we were nestled right in the trees. The kids were thrilled that there were monkeys outside our windows on the very first morning! The Infinity pool by the restaurant had amazing views and was well maintained. We may have been there at a less busy time but, we walked along the path down to the beach and the kids found their favorite pool with a waterfall and had it all to themselves for hours! We spent an entire afternoon with boogie boards down at Tulemars private beach. They have boogie boards to use, food & drink service, and towel service. The kids LOVED playing in the waves here. We went to several different beaches while in Costa Rica and this was a favorite. It's quite a hike down to the beach and back up to the bungalow......we didn't mind the walk but they also have a shuttle service if you prefer. There are really good restaurants and grocery stores all within walking distance. We didn't pick up our rental car until the end of our stay at Tulemar but never needed it. The only time we took a taxi was when we went to Manuel Antonio National Park for the morning (only a 10 minute ride). We would very highly recommend Tulemar Bungelows to anyone staying in the area and we would most definitely stay here again."

  • Canot convey the awesome of this place. If you hate to camp but love nature this is your place.

"Villa Tekla is your spot if you like "glamping" Camping with all the amenities, refrigerator, stove, TV, WiFi, hot water and a private pool! A very thought out villa that uses the idea of openness to bring you into the surrounding rain forest. I will have to warn that there are no glass windows in the Villa (master bedroom downstairs is fully screened in) and that unnerved me at first, but with the view and everything you'll forget about that in minutes. After spending only 16 hours on the property I saw Toucans, sloths, small poisons looking frogs and a myriad of birds and butterflies I can't even keep track of. Yes nature may visit inside, as we had several birds pop into the rooms, house geckos to help with keeping the bugs down and the special occasion was when a wayward two toed sloth decided to take a stroll along the gates, the main living room windows and overhang. That is something I will never forget. One word of advice don't leave the main white lights on in any room during the night for a long time. We made that mistake the second day and it became bug central, but hey you're visiting a place that has a huge amount of wildlife and to me it was a plus! Waking up to the morning sun (due to damn loud monkeys and birds) on the patio with a coffee was just amazing. The views are spectacular and just being in the canopy of a rainforest is something I doubt anyone would forget. All rooms have very powerful ceiling fans that facilitate the airflow to make the house very comfortable even during times of high heat and humidity. One day reached 98 degrees F 100% humidity but inside it was a comfortable 75-80 F degrees. The tiered layout of the house made me feel like a kid again (I'm 46). Plenty of room for several couples (only 2 of us but could accommodate 4-6 easily) as long as you aren't concerned about privacy, as the house is constructed for maximum airflow to keep it cool so there are very few doors which may make some westerners uncomfortable. And how can you not resist a private pool (just about 6ft deep). Fully functioning kitchen with coffee maker, blender (most important for pina coladas!), toaster, microwave, full size refrigerator and stove and most all pots/pans you can think of. The knives were actually sharp! It's only 1/4 of a mile to a very well stocked market which had more European cheeses than my local grocer in DC does! People in Manuel Antonio are very friendly and helpful. Wesley DC"

  • Amazing views, spectacular condo!

"This is an amazing property. The first thing to mention is the stunning ocean views from the family room and each of the three bedrooms. The location will never disappoint. The condo was well equipped and the owners Kerwin and Lisa were very responsive when setting up the reservations and answered all questions. There is a local manager Willy who will help with arranging any tours you want to enjoy, such as fishing etc. We caught fish one day (4 Spanish Mackerel) and brought it to a local restaurant (La Luna) for their preparation. They made ceviche with it and also grilled the rest. It was the best meal we had there. Just amazing and La Luna has a great location with views. There was plenty of fish left which we prepared in the condo for tacos the next evening. We had a party of eight and the condo was plenty big for us all. The only problem we had was water pressure at times, but whenever we reported it, it was fixed after a few minutes. I would easily stay here again as it is one of the most beautiful locations for a hotel I ever stayed at. Oh and concerning wildlife, we saw a couple monkeys and sloths near the hotel and during our 5 minute walk downhill to the local beach. It was a great little beach, but the water wasn't too clear for snorkeling, although I saw some fish near the rocks, but as mentioned clarity is lacking there. Take a trip 30 mins south to Dominical and head inland to the Nauyaca waterfalls. You can hike in or take horseback. It is worth it. Horseback ride is only $70 US per person and includes a breakfast and lunch midway in both directions. Horses were very nice and well kept. We didn't see too much wildlife on that trip, but if you head into Manuel Antonio State Park, you will see plenty there. We saw 3 monkey types, a coati, iquanas, peccary, vine snake and pesky raccoons that will snatch your food from your bags right next to you. This time of year (with locals on vacation too) the park is very busy and be prepared to be around some crowds. This place will not disappoint! Last comment, the restaurant at the hotel is good, but is a bit pricey. Better options are out and about nearby concerning pricing."
