  • Wonderful Stay

"Our family of six had an incredible time staying here at Villa Manuel Antonio! Let me first say that while searching, I messaged the owner, Laurent, and asked him about public transportation availability and ease as one of my sons is on crutches. Laurent called me to let me know that the transportation was fine, but that there were stairs to our floor since we were looking at the lowest level with a small yard for my children to run around in and search for lizards. He was concerned that my son would not be able to do the stairs and wanted to let me know before I booked the villa. He sent me pictures that he took of the stairs and we decided my son would be fine and continued with our booking. It was nice to see that Laurent's concern was for our comfort and enjoyment, even at the risk of us looking elsewhere if we felt our son would have difficulty on the stairs. So, back to the review... Our villa was located on the lowest level with a small yard and a view of the Pacific and the national park. The two bedrooms have king beds and there is a fold out couch in the living room. The bathrooms are large and the villa is a great place to stay. The kitchen comes with all the hardware for preparing meals yourself. The pool also has a nice view and our kids enjoyed swimming in it. During the morning it is in the sunshine, but after lunch it begins to get some shade to offer respite from the heat of the day. Our kids enjoyed the pool everyday. We also saw monkeys, a sloth, numerous birds and some colorful lizards while at the villa. The location is phenomenal. Perched on a hilltop but only steps to the bus that runs to beaches and the park in one direction, and Quepos in the other. There is no need to rent a car, just take the bus. Taxis were also easy to hail. There are also restaurants nearby (try the Falafel Bar), as well as a Bank of Costa Rica, Economy Car Rental and a small convenience store. There was not a lot of walking to these places so it was perfect for our son. It really is an ideal location for getting to wherever you need to go. As for Laurent, he stays on the property which is such a big help for finding whatever you need. He arranges tours and transportation to San Jose or wherever. He can point you in the right direction for food, groceries or any other needs. He is very friendly and a delight to talk with. It was our pleasure to meet him. We highly recommend booking your stay with Villa Manuel Antonio. You won't regret it!"

  • Relaxing, beautiful and lots of wildlife

"We really enjoyed our stay at this property near Manuel Antonio. It's located about halfway between the small town of Quepos and Manuel Antonio national park. The unit is not fancy, but comfortable and nicely decorated with lots of wood providing a warm feel. The upstairs bedroom is very large, but the downstairs is small with just room for a full-size bed. It was fine for my wife and I and our two daughters. It has two patios (a large one downstairs with a BBQ and a smaller one off the upstairs bedroom). Katherine was a very nice hostess. She lives nearby and is available to help with anything you need. The complex is lush and spread out. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The pool is very nice and there are fruit trees (mango, papaya, coconut, starfruit, plantain) throughout. The best thing was the abundant wildlife. We saw squirrel monkeys (and fed them by hand, although I suppose we weren't supposed to), white-faced monkeys, iguanas, and macaws. I was even woken up from an afternoon nap by banging on the window. When I looked to see what the commotion was, there was a pair of toucans on the balcony. We found a great hiking trail through the jungle nearby with giant bamboo and a waterfall. We went to El Avion (a restaurant built around an old airplane) twice. It has a great view and we dined with sloths just off the restaurant balcony on our second trip. We would definitely recommend this to family and friends."

  • Perfect place for a perfect vacation!

"We recently came back to the Netherlands after a 2 weeks vacation at the Toucan villa. Without a doubt, we had the best vacation ever!!! To start with, the house is absolutely gorgeous. Tastefully decorated, nice interior design, very spacious and has all the amenities (and more) that you need for a very comfortable and luxury stay. Going out into the back yard, there is a HUGE swimming pool. Even with 10 ppl and 6 kids surfing(!!) in the pool, there was still more than enough space. To make it even better, the view from the pool is over acres and acres of prestine rainforest with the Pacific Ocean as the back drop. Paradise!! Walking into the garden on a very well manicured lawn, you are surrounded by various fruit trees, flowers and tropical plants. Our kids loved picking star fruit, lime and mangos. Inside the house, there is a juice machine to make fresh fruit smoothies, yummie!!! Surrounding the garden, there is indeed a very large area of untouched rainforest including a very cool and quite adventurous nature trail. It meant that we got to see and observe (among other animals) toucans, parrots, sloths, butterflies and frogs (that other people pay a lot of money to see in natural parks such as in Manuel Antonio) right in our back yard. Unbelievable! After 2 weeks at the Toucan villa, we decided to travel around Costa Rica for 1 week. While we thoroughly enjoyed this, my husband and I regularly said to each other "yes nice but we saw that in the garden of the Toucan Villa as well". So all in all, this property and it's surrounding areas (with for example the beach within a 20 min drive) offers you all the beauty, fun an adventure that Costa Rica has to offer. If you are worried about security, don't as that is also taken care of with 24 hour security and Jose (property manager) who is available to answer any questions and to help out with any requests. So without hesitation, we would say; for an unforgettable vacation, book this place! Pura Vida."
