  • Great property

"We felt very welcome at Casa Trogon by Alex and Khalida. I wish we would have had more than 3 nights there. The pools were great and what a view! There were many birds on the property as well as howler monkeys, coati and agouti. There is no dryer in the unit, but when Alex saw how much laundry I planned to do, he hung an extra clothesline out for me. The washer did leak water, but I am certain the owners will get that fixed as soon as possible. We did hike to the upper falls from the property, which was quite a hike and not very appreciated by my daughters. Even though I consider us to be pretty athletic and agile, both my 10 year old and I had pretty significant falls on the slippery rocks, so be careful. We drive over to Santa Teresa for 1 day and ate at the Bakery there, which I highly recommend."

  • Great Property!

"Great stay....the back yard sets the property apart...pool, tropical landscape, nice furnishings, privacy...we planned our days to be back at the house for a couple hours in the afternoon to hang out. Property was as shown in the pictures...easy jaunt to Montezuma or is nicely stocked with the things you'd need. Gini was great accomodating with the couple things we needed help with! Would stay here again!"

"I spent a three-day weekend with some friends at this 27-1/2 Acre, Wildlife-Sanctuary Villa and had the time of my life! Eventhough I am not a foreign tourist (I’m a Costa Ricanliving all my life here, I have rented many vacation homes in Costa Rica, and this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. For example, I woke up at 5:30 a.m.on Saturday, and as I wassitting on the porch drinking my morning coffee, looking at the amazing view of the Sea, suddenly, a family of monkeys started coming to the mango trees. At the same time some little guatusas and pizotes were running across the grass in the garden, where there were hundreds of beautiful butterflies and all kind of little birds... later on I saw two little baby deer and foxes. I felt so blessed to be among these magnificent creatures! I said to myself, “This truly IS a “Sanctuary” not just for the animals, plants and birds but for ALL living creatures, such as myself! This wonderful Villa has so many comfortable spots to sit, read a book or just meditate. I said to myself, “Who needs a swimming pool, with chlorinated water, when you have a fresh-water riverwith natural swimming pools and all kinds of waterfalls just 50 meters down the path!”The town of Montezuma is less than a 5-minute drive (20 minute walk), down the hill, as are the miles of gorgeous beaches there. This rental property has everything that one needsin order to have a marvelous vacation; just make sure you try to stay at least 5 nights in order to fully relax into this magical paradise. I guarantee you will let go of all stresses and strains. I wish that I could have stayed longer, but I had to return to my home to go to work. This is truly a little piece of heaven and I felt honored to spend my weekend there. I thank you Kati for deciding to dedicate your land as a Wildlife Sanctuary and for donating ALL THE INCOME to supporting it as a not-for-profit entity!!!"

  • The perfect place for a truly relaxing holiday

"My husband and I recently stayed in the beach house for three weeks. This was our 5th trip to Costa Rica (a different location each time) and have seen a lot of this gorgeous country and thus, we didn't feel the urge to run out everyday and be "tourists". Cabuya is small and quiet, and away from the craziness of Montezuma. This is the perfect spot to lay back and relax. Each morning we carried the chaise loungers down to the beach under the shade of the almond trees and spent hours watching the pelicans and herons feeding feeding out on the water. Or gaze up in the trees, and we could watsh numerous other birds, squirrels, and howler monkeys crossing the property. There were a lot of female monkeys with tiny babies on their backs - what a delight! One morning there were two rays caught in the tidal pool in front of the house. When the tide comes in, swimming or just plain lolling in the warm water is heaven. Oliver purchased several "pool noodles" for the house. Just wrap one under yourself and float listlessly in the water forever. The house is very private with an empty lot next door on one side and a seldom used, little house on the other. Beyond that, is a small hotel but even though it was high season, we rarely saw anyone. I'll bet no more than a dozen people walked by on the beach on any given day. That said, we did make some great new friends there. The beach itself, is great for long beach walks - right out to the Island if you feel so inclined. We always rent a "fully equipped" place when we travel with the hopes of cooking most of our meals ourselves. More often than not, kitchens in rentals are poorly equipped or have a half size fridge and/or stove making meals very difficult. The opposite is true for this beach house - it has everything you need and all in good condition (great pots & pans, good utensils, mixing bowls, the works). With the local fisherman just down the road (fresh tuna, snapper, barracuda, shrimp, and more), plenty of fresh fruit, other necessities around, and a great kitchen, we were finally able to prepare the majority of our own wonderful meals. Bath and beach towels were newish, big and fluffy - another thing that does not seem to be common in rentals. A very comfortable place to stay! The only drawback when we were there was that it hadn't rained in a very long time and because the road is only gravel, it could be quite dusty. However, everything else was so wonderful, we just carried on and ignored this."
