  • Magical time in Atrevida at Puerto Jimenez

"Beautiful, natural location surrounded by local exotic wildlife like howler monkeys and macaws only a few feet away from a secluded, clean, gorgeous beach. Amazing, hard working staff always ready to help and assist to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Luis, the chef, is incredible. Delicious, healthy meals every day with personalized service. The cookout at the beach with the bonfire and a full moon reflecting off the ocean was the cherry on top of a perfect stay. ."

  • True Costa Rican Adventure

"The Whale Resort is more than a beautiful place to stay, it is a wonderful experience that creates lasting memories. The staff at the resort took excellent care of us. Chef Steven's food was exceptional with new flavors and dishes typical of the area, but with a gourmet flare. Our concierge/host, Vanessa, arranged for us to visit local points of interest - a nearby waterfall, snorkeling spots, surfing, deep sea fishing, dolphin watching, horseback riding - whatever we wanted, she made it happen. One of my favorite spots was Rancho Raices de Osa (the Chocolate Farm). The tour was led by the owner, German, with Vanessa assisting as translator. He shared his extensive knowledge of and love for the different plants and trees on their vast farm. We were able to sit down to a savory lunch that included fresh chocolate milk, sweet fruit, and chocolate that our kids helped process. The tour also included a spa treatment of chocolate and coconut oil mask that left our faces and hands soft and smooth. The sites, sounds, and smells were exotic and beautiful. Your stay at the Whale Resort is just the beginning of a true Costa Rican adventure."

  • Great place to relax and commune with nature.

"Quaint, comfortable home in paradise. Perfect for a family, several individuals, two couples or a romantic getaway. Loved the fact that we could coexist with the wildlife. Three different types of monkeys visited our front yard trees. Scarlet Macaws flew across the yard several times a day and basilisk lizards frolicked beside the wading pool. The beach abutted the front yard. No need for beach umbrellas as beautiful trees provided a natural canopy. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean and kayaking. One morning a couple of dolphins played about 200 feet from my kayak. We also enjoyed watching the surfers. The caretaker of the home took us on a great hike. He was knowledgeable about the plants and wildlife. There is a restaurant/bar within walking distance that served excellent food. The owner of the home, Rick, was very pleasant and accommodating. He provided lots of useful advice before our trip and was very responsive during the trip with any questions that came up. It was wonderful to have wifi access in the home. It made it easy to stay in contact with family when necessary."
