  • Amazing Experience at Playa Lapa

"Our family spent 9 amazing days at play Lapa. The house is situated perfectly between the jungle and the beach. Every morning, and evening, the various types of monkeys would visit the mango trees on the property. We'd sit and watch them take one bite of the mango and toss it to the ground. The Macaws squawked at one another in the surrounding trees. We'd see as many as 30 macaws flying overhead at once. The beach was a bit rough but swim-able at low tied. The kids played in the waves daily. We'd visit the neighboring lodges and hike though the jungle in search of howler monkeys. The accommodation were perfect for our family. It gave us a chance to disconnect from the reality of daily job and responsibilities and focus on one another and nature. This was a wonderful experience and we are already planning our return."

  • Amazing experience!

"We stayed with our 4 kids 4 days and I can tell you it was the best part of our 2 weeks trip through Costa Rica. The location and the house itself are beautiful. We will recommend this house to anybody."

  • Clean house in a calm area right by the Sierpe river

"We were two families of total 7 people staying in this house right by the town and river Sierpe that takes you via boat both to the Mangrove and out to the Ocean and Corcovado National Park. For us it was perfect to be close to town and supermarkets and then do day Tours' from here. We could sit by the dock and read a book or watch boats pass by. Very calm, friendly and safe town. Sonia, was the excellent host for us bringing tourguides to the house, showing us around town, handing Numbers and information to us that we asked for. So convienient!"

  • Things that make you go hmmm

"After spending the last three years exploring C.R with my extended family it was time to hit the Osa. I have had Life's a Wave on my radar for years. Here is what I found..... 1.THE HOUSE&PROPERTY... Are beautiful!! The house is set up perfectly for our group of 7. We never got in each others way and the house was very comfortable. The wood in C.R is beautiful and this house shows you that. The dining room table especially. The beds are all very comfortable and the fans did there job to keep most of us cool at night. We did have a fan break on us and it was never replaced so that was a bit of a bummer. You are in the jungle so it very hot and humid and once the sun goes down so does the breeze. My only complaint is the light over the table. It is very low so during our nightly game of hearts you are fighting the bugs. Maybe get a higher light with a fan? That would have made our nights a lot more comfortable. My daily walks around the property revealed something new almost daily. Lastly, the pool is awesome. Great for lounging around and watching the Macaw's do their thing. 2. THE BEACH...This was a big disappointment for our family. We are not a surfing family but we love the beach. I was under the impression that this was a surfing/swimming beach. It is Not. It is a surfing beach only. I use the word beach loosely as it is made up mostly of big piles of rocks with a few slivers of sand. It is however a very beautiful beach. The waves are huge and awesome and the views are simply breathtaking. There are a few other beaches nearby but I would say you need to be a very strong swimmer to use them as the rip tide is very strong. We did find lots of critters in the tide pools so that was fun for me and the kids. If you are looking for a beach to take a stroll, take a swim, and head back to pool this is not your beach. Playa Platanares is what you a looking for. 3. THE WILDLIFE.... Is good. We did see all four types of monkeys, a sloth, a basilisk lizard, and lots and lots of birds. The Macaw's steal the show. They are present every day and very fun to watch zip through the trees and devour the almonds. We didn't see any ground animals. I think all the neighborhood dogs keep them away for the most part. All and all a great nature experience. 4. OTHER NOTES... The animal rescue center is worth the trip. Carol is an amazing women with so much passion for wildlife. And sweetie pie will melt your heart. NOTE: The waterfalls are dry during the dry season."
