  • Unforgetably positive experience

"It was a beautiful, well maintained building with an excellent chef and staff. You feel like you are in the heart of the rainforest and yet stores and great bars/restaurants are close enough to visit without taking a cab."

  • Things that make you go hmmm

"After spending the last three years exploring C.R with my extended family it was time to hit the Osa. I have had Life's a Wave on my radar for years. Here is what I found..... 1.THE HOUSE&PROPERTY... Are beautiful!! The house is set up perfectly for our group of 7. We never got in each others way and the house was very comfortable. The wood in C.R is beautiful and this house shows you that. The dining room table especially. The beds are all very comfortable and the fans did there job to keep most of us cool at night. We did have a fan break on us and it was never replaced so that was a bit of a bummer. You are in the jungle so it very hot and humid and once the sun goes down so does the breeze. My only complaint is the light over the table. It is very low so during our nightly game of hearts you are fighting the bugs. Maybe get a higher light with a fan? That would have made our nights a lot more comfortable. My daily walks around the property revealed something new almost daily. Lastly, the pool is awesome. Great for lounging around and watching the Macaw's do their thing. 2. THE BEACH...This was a big disappointment for our family. We are not a surfing family but we love the beach. I was under the impression that this was a surfing/swimming beach. It is Not. It is a surfing beach only. I use the word beach loosely as it is made up mostly of big piles of rocks with a few slivers of sand. It is however a very beautiful beach. The waves are huge and awesome and the views are simply breathtaking. There are a few other beaches nearby but I would say you need to be a very strong swimmer to use them as the rip tide is very strong. We did find lots of critters in the tide pools so that was fun for me and the kids. If you are looking for a beach to take a stroll, take a swim, and head back to pool this is not your beach. Playa Platanares is what you a looking for. 3. THE WILDLIFE.... Is good. We did see all four types of monkeys, a sloth, a basilisk lizard, and lots and lots of birds. The Macaw's steal the show. They are present every day and very fun to watch zip through the trees and devour the almonds. We didn't see any ground animals. I think all the neighborhood dogs keep them away for the most part. All and all a great nature experience. 4. OTHER NOTES... The animal rescue center is worth the trip. Carol is an amazing women with so much passion for wildlife. And sweetie pie will melt your heart. NOTE: The waterfalls are dry during the dry season."

  • A wonderful treat!

"As you've read in other reviews the views from the casita are spectacular and the casita itself is clean, spacious and comfortable. Diane and Peter are very gracious hosts and they have a lot of helpful information about nearby sights and restaurants ready for their guests. Strongly suggest you plan your first journey up the road for a daylight arrival - after that the road becomes a non-issue, albeit for a 4x4. Suggest, too, that you stop at one of the two markets in Dominical before heading up the road to stock up on provisions - once at Diane and Peter's you won't want to turn around and leave on errands. It is a wonderful property and we had an enjoyable three days - we'll definitely be back."

  • Beatiful beach front property perfect vacation

"This was simply put, a truly amazing vacation for our group. The Blue Macaw was much better than we anticipated! The property is huge and the layout is perfect. All rooms were nicely furnished with air conditioning and very comfortable bedding The bathrooms were spacious and clean. The swimming pool is resort sized and fit 18 of us with room for 20 more. There is a private beach entry off the back of the property which made getting on and off the beach and the surf easy. The location was perfect as well, with downtown Jaco center being only a 4 minute taxi ride. Taxis were very east to get 24/7 and cheap. We were assigned 2 concierges by the hosting company Jaco VIP ( Lila and Maria) and they made sure we got to where we needed to go and were a hge help in organizing our activities, making sure we never ran out of ice, beer, or groceries, and saved us a lot of time and hassle. We also hired private chef service through the Jaco VIP company which turned out to be a good decision as our chef (Manuel) shopped for all the food we needed and cooked some pretty amazing dishes every day. Breakfast , Dinner and a BBQ our pool party we threw that Saturday with a DJ and bartender. I recommend Blue Macaw to anyone and everyone looking to have a really awesome vacation in Costa Rica. We'll be back without a doubt."
