  • Right on the beach! Quiet town, Esterillos Centro.

"This is a small, simple beach house that is right on the beach in a pretty quiet area. You have a small dirt road to cross and you are right on the sand. The price is excellent for basically having the beach to yourself. The neighbor and the neighborhood have quite a few free roaming dogs so if you are not an animal lover, you may want to look elsewhere (then again nearby towns also have free roaming dogs!) =D. We went during August so the ocean was quite mixed up. However, right in front of the hotel nearby is considered a good surf spot. The spot right in front of the house is pretty good for swimming but I recommend bringing boogie fins because of the strong currents. There were boogie boards available when we stayed, which was quite nice. We rented longboards from Brett in Esterillos Oeste (also a good surf spot), nice guy. The hotel/restaurant within walking distance has a pool table and great food. First time trying snook/robalo! House is not too far of a drive from Jacó or Manuel Antonio. Some advice: I highly recommend bringing good mosquito repellant. Also, you are very close to an estuary which is nice to walk through. Pamela and Claudette are very pleasant to talk to. Thanks again."

  • Wonderful Stay

"Our family of six had an incredible time staying here at Villa Manuel Antonio! Let me first say that while searching, I messaged the owner, Laurent, and asked him about public transportation availability and ease as one of my sons is on crutches. Laurent called me to let me know that the transportation was fine, but that there were stairs to our floor since we were looking at the lowest level with a small yard for my children to run around in and search for lizards. He was concerned that my son would not be able to do the stairs and wanted to let me know before I booked the villa. He sent me pictures that he took of the stairs and we decided my son would be fine and continued with our booking. It was nice to see that Laurent's concern was for our comfort and enjoyment, even at the risk of us looking elsewhere if we felt our son would have difficulty on the stairs. So, back to the review... Our villa was located on the lowest level with a small yard and a view of the Pacific and the national park. The two bedrooms have king beds and there is a fold out couch in the living room. The bathrooms are large and the villa is a great place to stay. The kitchen comes with all the hardware for preparing meals yourself. The pool also has a nice view and our kids enjoyed swimming in it. During the morning it is in the sunshine, but after lunch it begins to get some shade to offer respite from the heat of the day. Our kids enjoyed the pool everyday. We also saw monkeys, a sloth, numerous birds and some colorful lizards while at the villa. The location is phenomenal. Perched on a hilltop but only steps to the bus that runs to beaches and the park in one direction, and Quepos in the other. There is no need to rent a car, just take the bus. Taxis were also easy to hail. There are also restaurants nearby (try the Falafel Bar), as well as a Bank of Costa Rica, Economy Car Rental and a small convenience store. There was not a lot of walking to these places so it was perfect for our son. It really is an ideal location for getting to wherever you need to go. As for Laurent, he stays on the property which is such a big help for finding whatever you need. He arranges tours and transportation to San Jose or wherever. He can point you in the right direction for food, groceries or any other needs. He is very friendly and a delight to talk with. It was our pleasure to meet him. We highly recommend booking your stay with Villa Manuel Antonio. You won't regret it!"

  • Perfect for a family of 4

"Excellent choice for our family with 2 teenage boys (16 & 19). Close enough to all the Jaco action for the boys & far enough away for Mom and Dad :). Great set up on the ground floor for access to the pool & BBQ & beach. We'll equipped for cooking at home. Loved the sun screens on the patio. Nice small friendly complex. Make sure you meet Alejandro (office on top of the gatehouse) he's very helpfull with any requests you may have, any issues with the unit, reservations, shuttles, advice etc. Good value for the money Tours recommended: Costa Rica waterfall adventures, Rainforest zip lining, Tortuga surf school"

  • Wonderful

"Stayed for a week in Dec. Claudia is a very gracious host, with a wealth of local knowledge and a kind heart. Her place is very clean and well appointed, and she is always available for assistance, yet thoroughly respects her guests privacy. We were a family of five but felt like a family of six after adding Claudia to the list. Excellent host. The house itself was great, and we all fit quite comfortably. The kitchen was a blessing as restaurants were a drive. The beach, however, was about a two minute walk away and was absolutely amazing. The tranquility of her property was unsurpassed. Thank you Claudia for providing us with a base for creating family memories that will last a lifetime. We hope to see you again soon."
