  • Perfect beach house experience

"A beach house that is the perfect quiet, relaxing base to stay all day there or from which to explore the beautiful peninsula. The open style made us feel we were really living in the forest, especially when the howler monkeys come through. Beautiful trees and birds all around. The sand beach in front of the house has glorious sunrises - and is lovely for swimming at high tide - take trainers as it is stony in the water. There are restaurants nearby, Montezuma 5k's away and plenty more great beaches and forest to explore. And all around the interesting, small community of Cabuya. I highly recommend having your own car as there is a lot to explore . The grocery shop is just a walk away from the beach house. It's really lovely to just relax at the beach house too on the upstairs verandah in the hammock."

  • Wow!!! Wow!!! Wow!!!

"What can I say about this perfect house?? My husband and I have rented houses all over the world and this was by far the best one we've ever had. I had to pick my chin up off the floor when we first arrived. It is absolutely beautiful! The view is the first thing that grabs you and never gets old. The house is amazing and the owner has thought of everything!! The more than fully equipped kitchen was perfect. We cooked most of our meals in because we didn't want to leave paradise. We spent a leisurely week here either staying on our hilltop paradise or checking out the beautiful beaches. From the birds in the morning to the spectacular sunsets in the afternoon to the stars at night I can't say enough wonderful things about this property. I call Denise a "rock star" in the property management field. She met us at a restaurant and we followed her to the house. She was available to us the entire week if we needed anything. She made us feel most welcome. When (not if) we come back again we want to stay here longer. It was so hard to leave. We highly recommend the Exotica restaurant for a delicious and romantic dinner and the Bamboo Room restaurant for a great meal and live music. John and Janet (the owners) made us feel right at home. If you're spending time in the Ojochal area this house is a must!!!"

  • Beautiful View and Great Location/Needs Maintenance

"The view from this villa is incredible!! It is conveniently located within walking distance to the beach and short drive to several restaurants in Dominical. Wildlife is abundant as we saw several howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, and toucans in the area. The drive to the villa is steep but on a very well maintained road. The villa needs some minor maintenance. The garbage disposal wasn't working, locks on the sliding glass doors didn't lock, several light bulbs blown inside and outside, dishwasher leaked, and the sink leaked when trying to drain a full sink of water. Overall, a great stay."

  • Highly recommended

"My girlfriend and I stayed in the cabina for a week and it was incredible. Cassidy and Rayna made planning the trip a breeze, and Guillermo was very helpful when we got there and always responsive whenever we needed a ride into town. He was ready with the boat in Sierpe when we arrived, loaded our luggage into the boat, took us to SDP (10-15 minute ride), and then walked us up to the cabina and pointed out a few things, including the group of howler monkeys sleeping in the trees, during our walk up. The 95-99 degree heat was a little intimidating at first, but the ceiling fans in the cabina make it much better and at night it would cool off to upper 70s which made it very comfortable to sleep in. The walk from the pier to the cabina is uphill and can seem somewhat steep in parts, but makes it all the more worth it as you progress from the mangroves and forest floor to the canopy, where you're cabina is sitting perched overlooking the surrounding rainforest. Plus, you get used to that walk very quickly during your stay and we had some of our best wildlife viewing while walking on this trail. There are also numerous trails to hike throughout the property. I personally recommend the mangrove trail, which takes you through the garden where you can find some fresh fruit and then it proceeds along the river. We stocked up on some fresh limes and enjoyed them with our imperial beers. We just about ran out of batteries for our camera and took over 300 pictures during our first couple of days, which shows how much you can see while staying at SDP. One of our favorite moments was hanging out on the porch in the rocking chairs and seeing a three-toed sloth lounging high up in a tree during sunset just 100 feet away from our porch. We also took the kayaks out on the tributary near the pier and I tried fly fishing for a bit, but had no luck. My favorite activity was the night hike with Cesar. He is very knowledgeable and took us out on his farm and pointed out some amazing wildlife. It is a must for all adventure seekers! We also recommend getting out to Isla del Caño for a day, whether you snorkel or go fishing. They picked us up and dropped us off right at the SDP pier for all of these trips, which was very convenient. The town of Sierpe is full of friendly locals as well as a few shops and restaurants. If you love wildlife, hiking, camping, being remote, exploring, etc., this is the place to be. We will be returning here again in the future. Thanks again, Cassidy!"
