  • Excellent Stay

"My wife and I are avid readers of reviews when choosing a place to stay, and after reading all the reviews for Villa Cocobolo, it was an easy decision for us. Trey was very communicative during the reservation process, and after we booked, he was always available to answer any of our questions. We knew from other guests we would be happier if we had a 4x4 vehicle or a 4-wheeler. We chose both! We loved the drive from Liberia to the property, and enjoyed a few days with a 4-wheeler. The roads can be fun, you can get lost, and things certainly can get interesting, but we knew that beforehand, so it just became part of our adventure. Villa Cocobolo is exactly how it is represented on the VRBO site, well to be honest, it is even better. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need, and the home is beautiful. We saw some impressive sunsets right from our porch and at the pool. As for the pool, it is a nice treat at the end of a long day, and the days for us were long. We usually woke up at sunrise to the sounds of monkeys and birds. Trey is always working around the property planting, gardening and making improvements, so he is very accessible. He took my wife and I for our first surf lessons ever, and we both stood up and rode lots of waves to the shore. If you are looking for a surf instructor and Trey is available, look no further. Trey and Jaclyn invited us over to their new project, a craft brewery.  It is a work in progress at this point, but we am excited to see the final product next year! We love craft beer, and we tried Trey’s American Pale Ale, Porter and IPA, and it is obvious  the same love and dedication for the property is being put into the beer. We can’t wait to come back and stay when they have the brewpub open. Cheers!"

  • Once in a lifetime

"My friend and I were looking for a place where we could feel like locals but still have the quality of an upscale hotel and Sunset Villa was just that! The villa is located right above town and has a perfect location to get to anywhere in Santa Teresa. One thing I should note is that the villa is on top of a hill (which gives you incredible views) so if you aren't planning on renting an ATV or car (which I highly recommend you do), get ready to get in shape! Cameron was incredibly helpful from the beginning when we were booking to the day we were leaving Costa Rica. His onsite caretakers Juan and Ruth were nothing but awesome. I just wish my Spanish was better so that we could tell them in person how much we liked them. Overall, we had an amazing time and can't wait to come back!"

  • All the nature you could want

"My family and in-laws stayed at the house for a little less than a week. The hose is literally a 5 minute walk to the beach and just off the road. During our stay, we saw all kinds of nature including two kinds of monkeys, a few large iguana's (that both live on the property) and this was just while sitting in the backyard and swimming in the pool. We have two teenage boys that were able to stay in the cabana on the other side of the pool. We walked over to elcoyote cafe a couple of the afternoons and enjoyed their fresh fruit smoothies. You are a short 10 minute drive from town where we were able to go on a few excursions. The best trip that we took was the snorkeling tour out to isla tortuga. We saw a ton of fish (including some small sharks) and saw macaw's and parrots on the beach. Overall it was a great trip and if you are looking to enjoy nature while you are in costa rica, this is the place!"

  • WE LOVE CASA TOUCAN!!!!!!!!!!

"This property is lovely, well maintained and has all the amenities that you would need. The views are fantastic and we woke early every morning to the sounds and in some cases the sights of monkeys. The home is indeed in the rainforest--so there are lizards, spiders and bats close to the home, so as long as you don't mind some indoor guests --this is the place for you. We personally loved adventure of the 4X4 drive up and down the mountain every day. The first few times were a bit unsettling , but we got used to it and it became a ton of fun for us and the kids. The pool was well maintained and clean. It is larger than it appears in the picture. It was also great that the home provides linens, beach towels and bath towels-- and has a washer/dryer to keep these things fresh. It was great that they had several beach chairs and two boogie boards, that were great for the kids. The kitchen was well stocked with great cooking utensils, pots and pans, glassware and dishes. It has a grill-- so we cooked in a few days after buying the groceries down the mountain at the BM. We took advantage of some close by adventures. We recommend spending time at the waterfall at the bottom of the mountain, visiting Playa Ventanas, and eating at the Jolly Roger, Bamboo Room and the The Baker Bean. We used the recommendations that are provided in the house binder to go zip lining (so fun, but not for the faint of heart), and snorkeling. We also visited and LOVED the Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary in Dominical. We cannot say enough about the beauty of the home and the surroundings. Uvita and Casa Toucan are an excellent choice if you are looking for an affordable and family friendly stay in Costa Rica. Here we had both relaxation and adventure. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!! PURA VIDA!!!!!!!"
