  • Clean, Cozy, Close to the beach

"Villa Almendro (part of Villas Solar) is a great place. Greg and his staff are super nice and helpful. The apartment is super cute, very clean and secure. Also a plus it is very close to the beach! We ate out as we were only here for 2 nights but there is a fully equipped kitchen for meals and a well priced market close by. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Playa Santa Teresa!"

  • Awesome place, perfect location.

"We traveled to Costa Rica in Late April and stayed 4 nights at this place in Santa Teresa. We were 3 couples (6 people total) and it worked out perfect for each couple to have their own bedroom. It was very hot and very dry on the Nicoya Peninsula with it being the end of dry season, I would love to come back when the area is much more lush and verdant. With that said, it was a godsend to have a pool and A/C units in the bedroom. The units cool down the rooms very quickly, therefore we could turn them on as needed and conserve energy. We were able to drive up the hill easily in the Daihatsu Terios, these cars have 4WD but we didn't even need to turn it on to get up the hill. You definitely don't need to rent ATVs for the week unless if you don't have a rental car and don't feel like walking up the hill/ The location is perfect because you are away from the noise and dust of the main street without being far away from the best beach and restaurants. We ate one evening at Brisas Del Mar just down the hill, this restaurant is phenomenal albeit a bit pricy. Habaneros was a great place to go for a sunset dinner and tasty margaritas. We did breakfast at The Bakery one of the days and the other 3 days cooked breakfast at the house. Be careful when reaching for the dishes, as we did find a scorpion tucked behind a cutting board. My biggest critiques of the house are the lack of real cabinets in the kitchen to keep the dishes clean and scorpions out and that the second bathroom is not air conditioned or even well ventilated. We did a 24 hour surf board rental which was a blast and another day rented ATVs and did a big loop around the peninsula, visiting Montezuma and much more. I don't know that I will be returning to Costa Rica anytime soon, but if I did, I would definitely stay at this property again."

  • Can't wait to return!

"Our party of 8 recently returned from a wonderful stay at Casa Java. My husband and I and our two girls (ages 10 and 8) traveled from Cleveland, Ohio with our dear friends and their two like age daughters. We have visited Santa Teresa twice before but this is the first time we took the children along, after a quick internet search we decided that Casa Java would be perfect for our weeklong stay and I am so pleased to say we were right! The property is lovely and the house stunning, the pictures truly do not do it justice. The main living space is open, unique, and entranced both children and adults alike. The children loved having their "own space" in the double bedroom. Iguanas, birds, and yes monkeys abound! The pool was a mainstay for everyone after returning from the various activities booked by the outstanding concierge who arranged surfing lessons for the kids, a private boat tour to tortugas, buggy rentals, dinner reservations, fishing tours, zip-lining, and child care. All were amazing, the childcare provider (Brittany) was a favorite of both the kids and parents. The surf instructors were fantastic and had the kids up on their boards in no time. All of our other excursions were wonderful and unlike anything we had experienced on our prior visits. When we returned to the house everything was back in its place which is incredibly difficult with 4 young girls! The carekeeping staff were truly lovely, specially arranging all the children's toys in their rooms in a different way each day that had them racing to the door to their room to see what surprise was in store. We truly appreciated all of the staff, who were gracious and unobtrusive. I could not recommend this property more, it is truly a special place and I am so grateful for this is my children's first view of Santa Teresa, they enjoyed it so much we asked them to share a page in the beautiful guest book. We meant one page. They wrote four."

  • A little bit of heaven off the (literally) beaten path

"My 18 year old daughter, her friend and I just spent 10 heavenly days at Maison Marazul. The house and property were wonderful and perfect for our little group. The two suites are set up quite independently of each other and gave us the space an adult and two teenagers require. The property is right on the beach, with just the right amount of landscaping to keep the house private but still be able to see the surf. From the comfort of our loungers we spied iguana, geckos, monkeys, squirrels, parrots, magpies, heron and hummingbirds . Every evening we sat on the loungers at the beach and marvelled at the stunning sunsets. We had a mix of active days and relaxing days. On the relaxing days the hardest part of my day was choosing my spot! Chaise by pool, chaise on the lawn, chaise on the beach, arm chair on one of 3 porches or the hammock (pick the hammock!!!). Hide tide or low tide the beach was always great. At low tide you can walk the beach for hours in either direction. The tide pools are so interesting and big enough to relax in! You can't swim right in front of the house, but there is a small swimming area two minutes away ( in front of Florblanca resort) or Santa Theresa beach is a 10 minute walk away. The kitchen is completely equipped with everything you need to prepare full meals. They had salt, pepper, sugar, oil, vinegar and lots of spices available for use. Generally we ate breakfast and lunch at home, then went out to many wonderful restaurants for dinner. There is a binder full of information in the house with great restaurant and activity suggestions. Our concierge Tania set up two great excursions for us, zip-lining in Mal Pais ( the family who runs it are so much fun) and a snorkelling/touring/fishing tour with a great guide named Micho. The girls had a great surf lesson with Taylor (expat Canadian) from Surf 360 in Santa Theresa. We rented a 4x4 Daihatsu Bego ( arranged by Mario the property manager) and wouldn't have enjoyed the vacation as much without it. With the car we checked out Hermosa beach, the falls at Montezuma, Santa Theresa and Mal Pais. There was so much more we could have done but it was hard to leave the wonderful house! I would love to go back....right now! The 3 house staff deserve a big thank you. They keep the house and the gardens clean, beautiful and safe. I don't recommend the house for families with young children as the second and third rooms are accessed from outside the main house."
