  • Million dollar views!

"My wife and I really enjoyed this property. We had as much fun laying by the pool with cocktails, enjoying our tunes, and taking in the breathtaking views as we had exploring the plethora of other things there are to do in the Montezuma area. Joachim was extremely helpful and accommodating. The perfect host! The kitchen was well-equipped. No A/C, but we went in December and found the fans certainly adequate. The wildlife that we encountered on the property was a true treat for my family. As a note, the guesthouse is not quite adjacent to the main house. I talked to Joachim about this before we arrived, so we knew what to expect. With our two younger children (ages 6 and 8), that meant that my wife and I split up to each share a bed with a boy. We didn't feel comfortable putting them that distance away from us. It wasn't a deal breaker when we booked and it didn't detract from our experience. Just something to be aware of. I think this property is ideally suited for 2 couples or a family with 1-2 older children that you don't mind sleeping in a separate structure about 50 feet away. For the right adventurous family, I can not stress enough how amazing this property is! I think that you will be hard pressed to find any property at this price point that can beat it in all of Costa Rica...let alone the Montezuma area."

  • Beautiful house and gorgeous setting

"We loved the house and the view from the balcony. Beautiful woodwork throughout. The main room is larger than it looks in the photos. We did not see mosquitoes. We had Melanie cook a meal for us and it was delicious. The yoga classes were a real plus. We enjoyed watching the monkeys from the balcony. We took a number of tours and enjoyed the wildlife. We did not rent a car, which limited us a bit. There are no groceries other than the one in Puerto Jimenez, 40 minutes away on a very bumpy road...NONE. For hiking you can walk twenty minutes to the resort Lapo Rios. We took a 2.5 hour waterfall hike there and enjoyed it. You can also just walk up the river from the main road and get to the same waterfall--if you are sure-footed. I did it and it was beautiful. Any water--river or beach-- is public property. 10 meters either side for rivers, I think 50 meters from high tide for the beaches. I'd suggest that any tours you arrange you are clear with the guide exactly what you have in mind. We took the boat tour to the wildlife refuge, and found out halfway through the tour that we weren't going to the refuge because it was closed. Yes, there were other great things on the boat tour--I just wish he had told me and we might have rearranged it. Similarly, let the nature tour guide know if you want a forest hike or bird watching--two very different things. We also did a kayak tour of the mangrove swamp (Aventures Tropicales )and it was great."

  • Memorable vacation! Perfectly located close to everything you need.

"The Monaco condo's in Jaco is a very safe, cozy and personable vacation rental. Love the huge private balcony with grill, hot-tube and private restroom and a well equipped kitchenette. It is also very conveniently located in the heart of the city. They gave us a very thorough orientation and all their recommendations for beaches, restaurants, excursions and more. I'm a c-6 c-7 quadriplegic in a manual wheelchair in-which I had absolutely no issues getting around the condo. I will defiantly be returning!"
