  • Gorgeous Retreat

"We traveled to Casa Smith this passed March Break and were blown away by the beauty of the property and upkeep, it looks exactly like it does in the photos when you arrive and like the other reviews, much wildlife right off the balcony! We traveled with our 11 year old daughter, and 12 and 16 year old boys and enjoyed every minute. Surfing and boogy boarding in Jaco was amazing were you could also rent umbrellas and sun chairs. We also visited the rainfall and hiked up and swam in the water there which is so close to the Casa, and toured the 'crocodile' bridge close by. We hiked into Carrera National Park and we in awe of the playing monkeys (capuchins) and entertained with them eating bananas! We ziplined in near Jaco as well on 12 different lines coming down the mountaint- only about 25 minute drive away as well. So much to do and see, or just relax by your very private pool ( which was cleaned twice while we were there) Calm serenity or adventure, whatever you desire is at your fingertips! Pura Vida! Thanks so much for all your help Ron!"

  • Great Home

"My wife and 2 young girls and another family with 3 young children stayed at Casa Ying Yang for a week in April. We had a great time. The house is right off the a beautiful beach. The area in front of the house has a great surf break for experienced surfers. While the house is not super luxurious, it is very comfortable and absolutely appropriate for Costa Rica. Stefan, the owner could not have been more helpful. The house manager, Marta was terrific. She arranged everything that was required. Daily maid service kept the house very clean and comfortable. I would strongly recommend this house to anyone."

  • Perfection!

"The property and gated community is approximately 15 minutes from Downtown Jaco and was very easy to find. Check in was just as easy. Upon arriving to the community you are greeted to beautifully manicured yards and well maintained streets. Be aware it is a dirt road leading to the neighborhood but it is well maintained. In fact one day we were there they were re-grading it to fill in pot holes. I consider this an experience and part of the Costa Rican experience. Made you feel like you were off the beaten path. The house itself was perfect for us. We were two families, 4 kids, 4 adults. The house was the perfect size and had great outdoor spaces. The outside/inside shower in the master bedroom was amazing! I looked forward to taking showers outside hearing the Macaws fly by and other wildlife. Every morning we were greeted by a monkey they call poncho on the back 2nd level patio. To get to the beach and pool area was about a 2 minute walk if that. You can hear the surf breaking from the house all day and night. So relaxing. The beach is beautiful and often empty, you feel like you are in your own private paradise. Great waves every day for surfing. I went out about 3 times a day! The pool is huge and perfect for families and adults alike. There is a small pool bar area and every day there was a lady working there who had a small but good menu of food and snacks that she would cook or have prepared and she would also have various drinks or make frozen drinks. The community was perfect from families. We had great amenities but also felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was perfect and easy driving distance to all you could possibly need. Hermosa itself has a few small beach bar/restaurants. You can also drive into Jaco and there are tons of restaurants and shopping. We did bulk of our food shopping at Maxi Pali, but there is also a small mini mart in Hermosa that has just about everything you could possibly need too. You can also arrange tours at the community clubhouse through the property managers. We decided to go out on our own. We found a gem about 4 miles form the house called Ocean Ranch Park. I highly suggest this between pricing and number of activities and the personalized feel you get. Overall, it was a perfect stay and I can't wait to come back. The homeowner and his communication and recommendations he made were top notch. I'll never stay in a resort/hotel again!"

  • A Costa Rica Gem...

"We've been grateful to visit many places around the globe, but it's still a thrilling surprise to find a place crafted and decorated with such care and inspiration. The owners are gracious and exceptionally accommodating, the setting is gorgeous, and the villa is nothing less than extraordinary. Yes, a 4X4 is a MUST; but that simply goes with the territory (side road in Costa Rica hills). Easy access to three entirely charming towns. Uvita has a great farmers market, not one but two supermarkets, a great coffee shop/restaurant, and others besides. Ojochal is home to some extraordinary restaurants. And Dominical has some brilliant places to eat and shop at and see. Gorgeous wildlife and countryside all around. We stayed at this Villa hoping to have a wonderful and rejuvenating holiday. It was indeed that; a truly exceptional place and setting."
