  • Family Compund

"Great unique compound for a family retreat with some room to spread out. Three structures and a pool right up from the beach. A little on the rustic side but no complaints for the value. Owner and local manager were a pleasure to work with."

  • Right on the beach! Quiet town, Esterillos Centro.

"This is a small, simple beach house that is right on the beach in a pretty quiet area. You have a small dirt road to cross and you are right on the sand. The price is excellent for basically having the beach to yourself. The neighbor and the neighborhood have quite a few free roaming dogs so if you are not an animal lover, you may want to look elsewhere (then again nearby towns also have free roaming dogs!) =D. We went during August so the ocean was quite mixed up. However, right in front of the hotel nearby is considered a good surf spot. The spot right in front of the house is pretty good for swimming but I recommend bringing boogie fins because of the strong currents. There were boogie boards available when we stayed, which was quite nice. We rented longboards from Brett in Esterillos Oeste (also a good surf spot), nice guy. The hotel/restaurant within walking distance has a pool table and great food. First time trying snook/robalo! House is not too far of a drive from Jacó or Manuel Antonio. Some advice: I highly recommend bringing good mosquito repellant. Also, you are very close to an estuary which is nice to walk through. Pamela and Claudette are very pleasant to talk to. Thanks again."

  • Canot convey the awesome of this place. If you hate to camp but love nature this is your place.

"Villa Tekla is your spot if you like "glamping" Camping with all the amenities, refrigerator, stove, TV, WiFi, hot water and a private pool! A very thought out villa that uses the idea of openness to bring you into the surrounding rain forest. I will have to warn that there are no glass windows in the Villa (master bedroom downstairs is fully screened in) and that unnerved me at first, but with the view and everything you'll forget about that in minutes. After spending only 16 hours on the property I saw Toucans, sloths, small poisons looking frogs and a myriad of birds and butterflies I can't even keep track of. Yes nature may visit inside, as we had several birds pop into the rooms, house geckos to help with keeping the bugs down and the special occasion was when a wayward two toed sloth decided to take a stroll along the gates, the main living room windows and overhang. That is something I will never forget. One word of advice don't leave the main white lights on in any room during the night for a long time. We made that mistake the second day and it became bug central, but hey you're visiting a place that has a huge amount of wildlife and to me it was a plus! Waking up to the morning sun (due to damn loud monkeys and birds) on the patio with a coffee was just amazing. The views are spectacular and just being in the canopy of a rainforest is something I doubt anyone would forget. All rooms have very powerful ceiling fans that facilitate the airflow to make the house very comfortable even during times of high heat and humidity. One day reached 98 degrees F 100% humidity but inside it was a comfortable 75-80 F degrees. The tiered layout of the house made me feel like a kid again (I'm 46). Plenty of room for several couples (only 2 of us but could accommodate 4-6 easily) as long as you aren't concerned about privacy, as the house is constructed for maximum airflow to keep it cool so there are very few doors which may make some westerners uncomfortable. And how can you not resist a private pool (just about 6ft deep). Fully functioning kitchen with coffee maker, blender (most important for pina coladas!), toaster, microwave, full size refrigerator and stove and most all pots/pans you can think of. The knives were actually sharp! It's only 1/4 of a mile to a very well stocked market which had more European cheeses than my local grocer in DC does! People in Manuel Antonio are very friendly and helpful. Wesley DC"

  • Definitely 5 Stars! Fabulous House ! Great Vacation!

"Driving from the San Jose Airport to Los Suenos was well worth the drive! The view from the Carvajal home takes your breath away daily. The house exceeded all of our expectations. The house is very clean and well kept. We felt very safe during our entire stay. It is a gated community and therefore you have to be granted access to get into the community. Maureen the maid is awesome! We just loved her. She was very attentive and she is a great cook. The first day when we arrived she pulled out a schedule for the meal plans. She cooks breakfast and lunch. She made us some very delicious Costa Rican dishes. Even my picky eater would eat all of his food. Some of the food Examples included: Gallo Pinto, Arroz con Pollo, and Cazado. She even gave us a mini cooking lesson because we wanted to know some of her cooking secrets. She is soooooooo sweet. We just loved loved loved Maureen. Donald the grounds keeper is also around to help out. He sets up the outdoor furniture cushions and cleans the outside daily. He is also there to turn the spa on and off for you and with any troubles that may arise. 10 total people stayed comfortably. We also visited the community pool and beach area and everything was nice and clean. There was a grounds person also cleaning the private beach area. Los Suenos isn't too far from Jaco and there is a Market that is not too far as well. We booked excursions to ride ATV's (Jaguars were great), we did the Canopy Ziplining Tour and we loved it, and my kids rafted on the Naranjo River. All excursion companies that we used picked us up from the house. We did go out and explore a lot and we always came back to relax and jump into the pool and look at the view. If we were out exploring during lunch Maureen would leave the prepared meals. We got visitors almost daily coming from the trees that are directly behind the house. Monkeys would come by and we would watch them from the infinity pool. We would leave bananas out so that they could get a little closer. We saw several large iguanas and of course cute little geckos. Great family vacation! One of our best family vacations! Hope you love this home as much as our family did!"
