  • Secluded, peaceful, and magical stay!

"We stayed at Casa Cielo for 2 nights--it was not enough time! Perched on a hillside with a magnificent view toward the gulf, this cabin feels like it's in it's own world. It's a unique location and a really special place--do yourself a favor and book a stay here! On our way up, we stopped by the Sustainability Demonstration Center to meet Veronica, and would strongly encourage everyone to do the same--she's so wonderful and they're doing great work there! We also got to visit the farmers market across the street which was lovely. When we arrived at Casa Cielo, Giselle met us, showed us around, and provided delicious, farm-fresh, homemade refreshments! The cabin has everything you need, and is comfy and cozy. We had some dog and cat visitors, strays or neighbors but all very friendly, so that's a bonus if you love animals! The location is very convenient if you want to visit the cloud forest, and Veronica's recommendation/help with reservations at Selvatura Park was very valuable. Can't say enough good things about this special place, and can't wait to go back! Very highly recommended!"

  • Great property

"We felt very welcome at Casa Trogon by Alex and Khalida. I wish we would have had more than 3 nights there. The pools were great and what a view! There were many birds on the property as well as howler monkeys, coati and agouti. There is no dryer in the unit, but when Alex saw how much laundry I planned to do, he hung an extra clothesline out for me. The washer did leak water, but I am certain the owners will get that fixed as soon as possible. We did hike to the upper falls from the property, which was quite a hike and not very appreciated by my daughters. Even though I consider us to be pretty athletic and agile, both my 10 year old and I had pretty significant falls on the slippery rocks, so be careful. We drive over to Santa Teresa for 1 day and ate at the Bakery there, which I highly recommend."

  • Mostly Terrific

"We visited in mid-July with my daughter, her friend, and her two children and had a mostly terrific experience. The main part of the house and the pool are really incredible. Loved the open concept - always had a great view of the ocean/bay whether from the house or pool. The surroundings provided privacy and the feeling of being away from it all. Loved having the awesome pool to ourselves (and the occasional vulture that would land for a drink). Being the "rainy" season had us a little concerned but Javier told us not to worry - that the days would be beautiful and any rain would be in the evening or night. He was exactly right! A typical day was to get up and spend the day in and around the pool. Didn't miss TV and/or using my phone to stay in touch with people in the U.S. The internet service was sufficient to pick up texts, emails, and news. The house, pool and grounds are well maintained by Javier and his crew and they were quick to take care of a couple of small problems (light on patio not working, bulbs burnt out). Some things to consider: The house is about 3 hours from the nearest major airport. We flew in to Liberia - easy to get through customs and Javier was there to pick us up and had a great opportunity to see much of the country while driving down - including about 40 minutes of gravel road. The sidewalk to the hotel / restaurant / beach is quite steep and anyone with health issues may not be able to negotiate it. There are other nearby (walking distance) restaurants - not a problem for us since Javier helped us get to grocery stores, meat markets and fruit stands where we bought was was needed to cook / grill our meals. The two main bedrooms (while roomy) are somewhat rustic. One bedroom in the back building is small but has an attached bathroom. The other bedroom is large, but no attached bathroom so will need to go to one of the other bedrooms for access to a bathroom. All bathrooms are only accessible from bedrooms. Javier provides not only excellent property management but also provided us with transportation when needed and helped with an excursion that helped build great memories. He is great to work with as everyone has said! Overall - a great vacation - relaxing - beautiful - great times - great memories with family - great pictures - great times in the pool (did I say great times in the pool)!"

  • Stunning Condo; Relaxing Lifestyle

"The property is just stunning; very well maintained. The condo itself is beautifully appointed. My favorite spot was under the Paradise Found sign on the spacious deck, where I must admit I fell asleep several nights in the soft warm air. The pool was always a refreshing dip after the ocean swim. I must warn you that the sand is from lava rock and somewhat course. The ocean temperature is perfect, but be careful of the rip tides and be prepared for some strong waves. Jaco is a surfing destination after all! The food is fantastic; produce as fresh as can be, flavorful and delicious, whether you cook for yourself or eat out."
