  • Views, monkeys, close to town, and helpful owner

"We had a group of six who stayed at this villa in late March 2016, and we really enjoyed our time there. We had two older couples and then our son in his 20s who came with a friend. We chose this location because you don't need a car and can walk to the town and to the local shuttle bus stop in about 5 minutes -- though the return trip is up a hill for a short time. The home is large with sweeping views of the jungle and the ocean in the background, and there is a nice pool often visited by monkeys. Our son and his friend said they saw more monkeys at the pool than at Manuel Antonio park. My husband and I enjoyed the top bedroom, though people need to know that it is more of a loft so it doesn't have total privacy. However, we loved the view from up there out all of the windows. The attached bathroom has windows at the tree level, and these trees attract some beautiful colorful birds, so I did much of my bird watching from the bathroom! The bedrooms are also air conditioned. The bedrooms on the other level are not as large, and the shared bathroom is smaller, so people should be aware of that along with the fact those upstairs need to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the lower level (unless Jean has another way around this). We're all close, so that didn't bother us. Jean was the ultimate host and was responsive and great to work with. We even invited him to join us for a drink one evening, as he is very interesting and well-traveled. He also let us store our bags there after we had checked out so we didn't have to take them with us to the beach that afternoon. We would recommend Villa Azul."

  • Truly Paradise

"We spent several weeks at Rocamar Villa in November/December. The villa was comfortable & had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the the rooftop deck, the beautiful pool, the proximity to the beach, and Tracy - always there and very helpful. We spent most of our time in Esterillos, eating at local restaurants, exploring the area, and enjoying the beautiful and fascinating wildlife - from Scarlet Macaws to giant iguanas and monkeys. We did explore up and down the coast as well - many beautiful beaches, cool towns and national parks a short drive away. It was an unforgettable experience and we hope to return soon. Pura vida."

  • Beautiful Grounds & View

"We enjoyed our stay at Casa Vista very much. The view by the pool is stunningly beautiful. Diane & Peter are wonderful hosts. They will help you with planning tours or just be there for a chat. It's nice to know if you need anything they are always there to help. There was one little issue which really wasn't too much a big deal. We had booked a different cabin/casita, the one with the view but unfortunately we couldn't stay there because of construction. Diane did put us in a different cabin which was larger but it didn't have the wonderful view like the one we had originally booked. The pool area was lovely, we definitely took advantage cooling off in the pool after a hot day touring. The weather was prefect but definitely keep in mind during the dry season it gets really hot! We kept busy everyday, there are many things to do and wonderful places to eat. We found many beaches with no one on them and others that were somewhat crowded so don't be afraid to venture off the main road. Our stay was for 18 days, lots of time to get to know the area and time to chill. During our stay the area hosts a big festival called Envision. It definitely changes the feel of the area. It was much busier and the beaches at times were crowed. So if you decide to go to the South Pacific/Domincal area in late February and don't want the crowds you may want to double check the dates of this festival/Envision. If we had known we would have definitely avoided staying in that area. You definitely need a 4WD! Don't even try to get there without one. But once you get to the top and see the view you will see it's all worth it. So just go with it and enjoy the adventure. Diane & Peter have a wonderful dog, Kirby that I fell in love with, so very cute. You won't have any regrets staying at Casa Vista, you will just have great memories that will stay with you for many years. Thanks to Diane, Peter & Kirby for making our stay a wonderful experience."

  • Incredible private getaway

"My husband and I spent the last couple of days of our honeymoon here and it was INCREDIBLE! The drive up is a little intimidating at first but you get comfortable very quickly and the views on the way up make it totally worth it. Rodney was incredible with filling the fridge with necessities, scheduling whale watching and surf lessons and the beautiful flower arrangement he created for us as a "Congratulations gift". Lynne gave us every detail we needed for the area, we fell in love with this particular area after traveling up and down the coast. The house was BEAUTIFUL and so private...way bigger than expected but absolutely no complaints! We loved seeing all the critters roam around outside the house. I will definitely be staying at this peaceful getaway again very soon!"
