  • Excellent jungle experience

"Finca Pachira The communication with owner-Fugy was very good. Photos of the villa are good and represent true condition of the building. The place contains 3 villas. Fugy leaves at the bottom one while Michelle leaves at the top. Our villa was in between. The views from both floors of our villa were just breath-taking. The sky at night was so dark, that we could see the Milky-way. The house is decorated in nice relaxing colours. The building is an open style canopy house so we were worried about the security as there are no doors or windows that could be locked, but in reality it's actually safe and secure place. The only way of getting there is by 4x4 car–driving to the beach is around 10min. Fugy or Michele are usually at their villas all the time. The house overviews the jungle, distant mountains/hills and to the West the Ocean. You will hear the jungle all day and night long–this is truly an amazing experience. Note that the house is in the jungle, so sleeping is under mosquito mesh only. Although we haven’t seen many mosquitoes, there are many small flies or other insects–after all it’s a living jungle. We visited the place with two children aged 8 and 10 y.o. They enjoyed the stay. It gets very hot on the beach between 11am–2pm so we stayed at the villa and chilled out during that time. We experienced pleasant draft at the top of the villa during the day. Perfect to stay there even during very hot day. We’ve seen many animals including monkeys just 15m away from the house, iguanas, parrots, number of other birds. The humbling bird was actually flying in our bedroom once. In other hand you will see also other animals that some may not wish to see and this include most beautiful spiders I’ve ever seen. If you don’t want to see spiders Fugy can move them away. It may sound obvious for the open style canopy villa, but there is no air-conditioning – just ceiling fans to help to cope with the heat at night. It may get hot at night, but our family could cope with it. We loved the view in the morning from our bedroom–just opened the folding doors of our room and we could enjoy 180 deg jungle view from our bed–truly amazing experience. Kitchen is well equipped, bedrooms are nice, each bed has mosquito mesh. It could help if the folding doors also had the mosquito mesh, perhaps we could then turn the light at night in the bedroom more often. The house is nice and clean. Thanks for surfing lessons Fugy. Pura Vida and many thanks, hope to visit again."

  • “Difficult roads lead to the most beautiful places

"It is a crazy road from the highway to the top but once you arrive, breathtaking. We eloped and honeymooned in beautiful Costa Rica and spent two glorious weeks at Seawind Villa, just outside of Uvita. It is surrounded by jungle and overlooks the water and for those who know the region, you can see what is called the Whale’s Tail from the deck. We awoke each morning to a cacophony of bird songs and howler monkeys and spent many days of our two weeks relaxing on the deck and in the infinity pool enjoying the spectacular view. We spent oodles of time looking for monkeys, makaws, parrots, and anything else we could spot and try to identify from the reference pictures that were at the villa. Oh and we never tired of taking pictures of the beautiful sunsets. We got married at Nauyaca Falls early one morning and then enjoyed a siesta at Seawind followed by sunset pictures at Playa Dominicalita. We then had an exquisite dinner at Exotica restaurant in Ojachal before returning to Seawind to dance in the moonlight. It was a truly magical day – there is no other way to describe it. From moment one to moment last, it was everything we wanted and we loved it. For those of you who might be thinking about getting married here we highly recommend John Williamson for photography and Marcelo Gallo for officiate/lawyer services. Not only is their work top notch, they are great guys to work with as well. And of course, a big thumbs up for Exotica restaurant (see our review). If you are looking to relax, this is the place. You can get to town in 20 minutes for groceries, the beach, or shopping if you so desire, or stop at the Jolly Rogers pub halfway down the hill (about 10 minutes) for the best wings you have ever had, great music, and awesome hospitality. However, aside from our wedding day and a couple of other trips into town, we enjoyed staying at Seawind soaking up the sun and the beautiful vista all around us. Seawind has everything you need in terms of amenities and it is well cared for by the owners’ (Leland and Cheryl) right hand man Rudy. Leland was great in terms of corresponding with us both before and after we arrived and we cannot say enough about how awesome Rudy was in terms of responding quickly to our needs and questions. Oh one last thing, we recommend that you pay the extra and rent the larger 4X4 vehicle, your back will thank you! We absolutely loved it and we will be making a return visit!"

  • Exceptional Beauty, Tranquility and Hospitality

"Our family stayed 14 days at Kalapiti. We had the entire property to ourselves and it was heaven. The beauty of this property was breathtaking. Being world travelers, this had to be one of the most tranquil and peaceful stays we have had in our 30 years of travels. Set on 10 acres of beautifully maintained botanical gardens, we walked the property every morning and evening enjoying the hundreds of different varieties of plants, flowers and animals. The howler monkeys and their babies were amazing to watch in the treetops. I am a professional photographer and I was able to get an entire portfolio of nature photos just from the grounds of this property. Our two boys 9 and 11 had the time of their lives on the water slide and spent most of their days playing in the huge pool. All of the colors of the property itself are vibrant and fantasy-like. We felt like we walked into another world when we arrived on the property. The details and love put into this property were uncompromising. Each room and living area offered something special and provided a feeling of peace and luxury in an old world setting. Miguel and his family treated us like we were a part of their family, but also respected our privacy. They brought us fresh breakfast every morning that included fresh baked croissants, tiramisu (to die for), breads, jams, homemade yogurt and fresh fruits from the property that were ripe with mouth exploding flavor. We all felt very safe and secure here. The property sits a convenient ten minutes from both Montezuma Beach, Santa Theresa, and Malpais. You will definitely want to rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle though. All of these places were beautiful, full of vibrant colors, amazing exotic animals, and great restaurants. We highly recommend visiting them all. The only downside to our stay was directly outside of the property. As typical with Costa Rica, there were many dogs wandering around that were underfed and not well taken care of. While they were all friendly animals, as dog lovers it was very disheartening and difficult for us to see all of these emaciated animals. We actually rescued a sick puppy that followed us each day and brought him back to the U.S. We have given him a forever home filled with love and proper care. If you are a dog lover, this most likely is not the place for you. Overall, we would highly recommend Kalapiti to anyone who loves nature and wants a peaceful and tranquil place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica."
