  • Pura Vida Costa Rica at the Casa!

"A busy family of five, looking to disconnect... and that is what we got! If your sick of fighting for a chair at a pool in a resort, or standing in line to eat dinner on a cruise-try this! This beautiful home was secluded, wildlife everywhere, great pool, balconies, comfy beds-and air conditioned bedrooms! (yes 1 is a garage converted-not a big deal) We live at the beach in the US, so we were looking for a mountain get-away, and Casa De la Montana gave us just that. Unlike the last review-we feel your in Costa Rica-so learn the language! Google translate worked just fine. No Oscar, really doesn't speak English, but translate worked for us. He was a wonderful, considerate man! Took us horseback riding, and kids on the quad. He has great tips-ask him! Magally (who walks 30 min. to work-give her a ride if you can) was wonderful. We wanted a vacation, so we asked her to cook on the days she was there-and she did, ask her for the Yuca stuffed with Bisteca! Esteban (he is also on the contact list) is an amazing chef. We hired him for the weekend, we asked for authentic CR food-and he did! He's a great guy, fun to hang with, and a great chef! We don't recommend renting a car. Just use the one at the casa. Fernan-incredible-worth every penny! He picked us up from the airport, took us food shopping, stopped to see the crocs, stopped for us to eat, and found the house at night-which wouldn't have been too easy! Brought us back to airport, stopped for souvenirs, and we were on time! He is a great guy, highly recommend his services! The people on the mountain were lovely... Steven & Saulio at Sky Mountain-the best! We've been zip lining, this was by far- best we've done-scary, high, incredible views! Tres Pilas-go to the falls. Bit of hike, but heah... you want the jungle-you hike. We saw monkeys, and had a blast. Jump in the middle pool, and stay to the left when you arrive, there is a trail up the side of the falls. We surf-go to Hermosa or Esterillos Oesta- find Jorge to rent boards from, he's just as you get to the beach on the right. Snorkled off a catamaran-Ocean King. Great service, nice boat. The road through town and up the mountain isn't the best-yes. But remember where you are. This is an experience like none other- enjoy it, take in the views, play your music, relax, swim, toucans & monkeys on the property... It's the best! Our kids 13,11,9 loved the wifi, lol! We will be back Claudia & Randy!"

  • Super fun

"Gorgeous grounds, away from everything, and so much character. We loved it here. Also, having our first breakfast groceries taken care of, umbrellas, a bag of charcoal, and a full box of dry wood for the fire pit were very nice touches. Don't miss Nauyaca waterfalls nearby! They're truly truly amazing. Before booking , you MUST know this is not going to be a luxury resort experience. There are no glass windows, only wooden panels that completely open, you pretty much live outside, in the heart of the jungle. One of the casitas has no walls at all, you're sleeping outside, with a roof over your head. It's very fun and romantic, but just to give you a sense of what it;s like, the swimming pool 8 feet away is the night home of 6 to 10 green frogs, 1 huge toad, and the cutest little baby boa (about 18 inches long). You can find them in and around the pool most nights. We found the boa chilling on the outdoor shower floor one evening. So if this doesn't sound like a fun adventure to you, you will not be happy here. A couple little things you might also know beforehand: - The beach is about 25 - 30 minutes from the house by car. - You MUST have a 4x4 to get through the 2km of rocky paths of the main road. - Wifi is slow. It works, but if you need to get work done, I found my cell phone 3G connection to be faster, so plan accordingly. - It's very difficult to get anything to dry because of humidity. One towel per guest was provided, but I wish we had a few more. - We discovered that what looked like a bookshelf between 2 doors in the main house was actually a ladder to a loft with 2 twin mattresses. Maria hadn't show that to us, or maybe I just misunderstood since I don't speak Spanish, but this was very useful since we only had one couple in our group of 6. I would definitely come back. Amazing jungle home."

  • Beautiful condo! Can't wait to go back!

"My husband and 2 kids stayed at this condo in May of this year and don't have one thing bad to say about it! The condo was located in the middle of town and within walking distance to everything. We are already planning to go again in December! Thanks again so much for letting us stay in your home and inviting us to stay again! We can't wait!"

  • Little piece of paradise

"Staying in this wonderful house was an experience we'll remember forever. A large and open house with a lovely pool, right in the heart of the forest. And the caretakers, Grace and Juan, really made it special - Grace's cooking was a real treat and nice not to have to cook for ourselves all the time, and Juan was a great guide to the forest nearby. (We asked Adrian for a shopping list before we went which was helpful - and might be a good thing to provide to all guests) There is lots of wildlife walking right by the house - we saw a laughing falcon take a (harmless) snake just below the house, a Tayra climbing a tree, macaws, toucans and lots of hummingbirds and butterflies - even a turtle on the beach! Some of the fixtures and fittings (window latches, wardrobe doors) have taken a little bit of a beating from the jungle, but more than compensated for by the wonderful surroundings. And you should be aware that the sound of the ocean can be quite loud, which didn't bother us - but might be a consideration for others. I'd recommend a visit to Estacion Piro just up the road, and ask Juan to take you to the other part of Adrian's estate - which you might not find by yourself and contains some amazing trees. Really a nature lovers paradise and the pool was a real treat."
