  • Perfect location and hospitable town!

"We enjoyed our 2-week stay at Casa Amelia very much. The neighbors/caretakers gave us helpful tips (including attending a 10 am mass on Sunday at Santa Domingo, just around the corner - one of the most spectacular settings for a church service we have experienced). We enjoyed walking to everything and taking a different route home each time. Our girls (6 and 10) had a terrific experience studying for a week at the Spanish school Don Pedro Alvarado. Internet in the house was reliable/fast enough for me to work on my laptop when needed. Cooking was a pleasure in the fully equipped kitchen - we cooked a full thanksgiving feast. Our only issue during the stay was that during our second night in the house (a Thursday), there was a long series of explosions in the streets just outside. It really put us on edge, until we leaned from the neighbor in the morning that they had just been fireworks, probably related to multiple weddings (although what was odd was that it was completely silent except for the fireworks...). In fact, we heard fireworks on most of the remaining nights we were there - so in the hopes of saving others worry, we wanted to mention it. Once we knew what it was, it just added to the ambiance. Thanks for a terrific vacation!"

  • Look No Further in Antigua!

"Our family visited Guatemala for Christmas and spent four nights in this beautiful home for our stay in Antigua. First of all, communication with the owner, Sam Cave, was great, and also with Lorena Yuc, who manages the home locally. This is a very safe location, a gated community, and it's just a 10-15 minute walk from the parque central. Antigua is a small city, so everything is walkable - or you can take tuk tuk. The home has all you need for your stay, a well-equipped kitchen, TV, great wireless, comfortable beds, beautifully furnished with local textiles, and of course that incredible view of Acatenango from the upstairs patio. That view from the master bedroom each morning will stay with me forever. What a great place to sit and enjoy coffee and breakfast! We would stay here again and highly recommend it."

  • An ideal home for visiting Antigua and surrounding locations - greatly exceeded expectations!

"My family (my wife and I and five adult children) rented this GREAT home from Christmas through New Year's. It truly is an amazingly beautiful home in a perfect location (in a gated and safe community very close to the central square in Antigua with easy walking distance throughout the whole town). The pictures don't do it justice as this is probably the nicest VRBO home that we have ever rented. It is a very large home beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We took advantage of the ping pong table often and the many board and card games available in the home as well. The home also has a nice pool and hot tub. Our family, which likes to stay busy with adventurous activities, used the home as a base for visiting Antigua and surrounding locations. There are many ways to stay busy including volcano hikes (Pacaya and Acatenango), mountain biking, day trips (or longer) to Lake Atitlan, golf at La Reunion, coffee plantation tours, just hanging out in Antigua and much more. The owners are very responsive and helpful offering many traveling tips and recommendations for guides/outfitters. I would advise not renting a car - it is not necessary with plenty of transportation alternatives. The home comes with a housekeeper who made breakfast for us a couple of times and a groundskeeper who kept the landscape very beautiful. I can't think of a better home to rent in Antigua."
