  • Hiding in the Trees

"This little gem is perfect for a couple who want to have a view of the lake with birds as their neighbours. This place is quiet and set in a perfect spot; the pictures on the website do not lie. Terry, the owner, is a delight and more than willing to help but she also gives you your privacy. It is situated just outside of San Marcos on the way to Tsunuma. It is between Casa Joyce and Casa Palo, lakeside with a blue gate and some bamboo at the bottom. We arrived by car, in the dark, so these directions are very helpful. Everything except your groceries is provided - even drinking water! The bathroom with a view is to die for! San Marcos has many ex-pats who live there or are there for extended visits and the Mayans live behind the lakeside village. All necessary provisions are available in the village which is an easy walk. There are a number of trails on the property and you can walk down to the waterfront. Be sure to check the water on the web before you swim. We can't thank Terry enough for our wonderful and unique visit."

  • Beautiful property and extremely hospitable staff!

"The Atitlan Villas were absolutely breathtaking and such a wonderful relaxing little piece of paradise. We had 11 people stay in the house comfortably. The staff was very hospitable in supplying food and drinks for the house at our request, and also booking excursions for us to hike and explore the nearby towns. You can hike on the property or enjoy a relaxing day at the pool by the lake or any of the nearby towns are only a short boatride away. Our group absolutely loved this place!"

  • It's like paradise on earth!

"We spent 6 nights at Jim's place called Villa Atitlán and it was amazing. From the home to the on site concierge, Victoriano....amazing! If you want a get away, learn more about a different culture, go visit this beautiful place just outside of San Antonio Palopo, Atitlán in Guatemala. The only thing I missed was a Kayak or two, but you can always rent them from places around if you really want one! Antonio Flamenco"

"This repeat visit was just as great as the first time, with an added treat: the house now has a motor launch, complete with driver and assistant whom we hired for a lovely tour of the lake shore with a stop to visit the charming village of San Juan La Laguna. The tropical fruits and artisan bread that we bought in San Marcos made a great breakfast while we watched the little fishing canoes and the beautiful view of the lake. The house is more welcoming and colorful than ever, with fresh paint in most of the rooms and new tile features in the kitchen. A very relaxing stay!!"
