  • Truly Amazing

"The most relaxing place EVER. The beach house is humble and extremely well equipped from the kitchen to the water-sports gear. Snorkeling in the backyard and reading on the beach shore was so peaceful. Nevada is a wonderful host, he was always available to help us with anything we needed and answered all of our questions. He even told us about other places on the island that were fun to explore. The best part of this location is the amazing views at any time of day. From the moment the sun rises the Dolphins start filling their tales and when the sun sets the sky is painted with bright stars and lightening. If you pay close attention you are guaranteed to see a shooting star every single night. Five star hotels have nothing on this intimate home, I wish I could have stayed longer. Definitely a place worth returning to!"

  • The best place to stay without breaking the bank..

"Hobbies offers large and small efficiency apartments. They are located on a large secluded beach with easy access to the best restaurants, attractions, parks, diving and snorkeling. You can swim to the reef. The apartments feature high end mattresses, ample air-conditioning, and North American TV channels. There is a lovely deck if you wish to just sit and enjoy the ocean. The dock provides a spectacular view of the sun going down over the water. John and Sue are very gracious hosts who will help with any of your desires. Sue maintains the apartments so they are clean and well stocked with linens and towels and can even recommend a private cook. John knows the island like the back of his hand and does full island tours to places you would not normally see. Your shopping excursions are a trip to themselves bartering with the local fisherman. Having fished the area for many years he can also help you catch your own dinner. If you want to see and experience the real Roatan this is the place to go and it is very reasonable."

  • Great place to stay in Sandy Bay

"Spent a week in this perfect oceanfront villa. Nothing is lacking: well-equipped, well-maintained, outstanding water's edge location. We ate, read, hammocked on the porch, snorkeled to the very close reef, enjoyed the dock to watch the sunset. The beach here is quiet: some horseback riders, fishermen, kids/families walking along the sandy shore. Recommend this villa for all ages looking for a peaceful vacation, yet near many good restaurants and island activities (don't miss the adjacent dolphin preserve for a swim with the beautiful beasts.) We had a rental car (not cheap) to enable searching out the fun stops and best eats; without it, our stay would have been more limited to the villa."

  • Interesting house!

"My family of 12 just returned from Pirates View. Overall the house was ok. It is located on a dirt road in a neighborhood. This is not clear in the description. The beach was not really where we would want to hang out. The neighbors car was actually parked on it. The plunge pool is much smaller than it appears in the picture. The dock was ok but in need of some repair. The water this time of year was brown for about 50 yards from the beach due to a stream running in with rainwater. We went to West Bay to use the beach, about a 20 min drive. We had the upstairs house and downstairs condo. The condo downstairs has quite a strong musty smell. We hired a chef for the week which made the experience manageable. Grocery shopping is a 10 min drive as well as most restaurants. With 12 of us I was happy we had the chef. Overall it was good but remember Roatan IS A DEVELOPING Island."
